Hey Charlotte, thanks for sharing your story with Robin last week. I watched it a second time and took several useful points from it. I especially appreciated your advice to not try to apply the recovery lessons perfectly, and also not to get stuck in a rut of constantly trying to work on yourself. Just live! I am definitely at the over-thinking end of the spectrum, so I appreciated your example that you can put all that aside and life gets so much better :)

Great insights! Thank you! Charlotte have you heard of Claire Weekes? - seems like a lot of the insights you were talking about are aligned with her teachings.

"Hi, I’ve been struggling with intense existential thoughts and fears about our place in the universe. These thoughts make me anxious, especially at night, and I often feel like my heart is racing or that I might faint. It’s hard to calm my mind, and I’ve even started avoiding things like stargazing, which I used to enjoy. Any advice on how to manage this overwhelming fear and regain peace of mind would be deeply appreciated. Thank you!"

Stop taking charge of your fear. It may sound counterintuitive and language always makes it hard to explain it. But imagine that you are in quicksand: the more strategies you establish to escape, the more you sink. Fear is the same, the more you notice it, freeze to it, avoid things because of it, obsess over it and argue with it, the more it feeds and perpetuate. If, however, you just acknowledge it, smile to it, and carry on with your life without handling it or trying to "solve" it in any way, it just dissolves.
The same way, if you just let yourself go and forfeit the struggle, you will stop sinking and float right out of the quicksand.
In summary: allow yourself to be afraid, give yourself permission to suffer, and go on. Don't miss any opportunity of having fun! Say yes to everything! You will be afraid, you will feel bad, but it doesnt matter, do stuff and BE anyway.
Love and hugs! You can overcome it! ❤

Avoiding things like stargazing. Can relate. It's gonna be okay. Take it easy. Just label your thoughts and let it pass through. Don't give too much attention to the thoughts.

@@ca7582You could not have said it better! I suffered from deep existential anxiety, and I think the first step to recover is to let yourself feel everything, wear the feelings (physical and mental) with no resistence. As hard as it sounds, it is possible. Go do the things you used to enjoy, and even if you suffer through it, it is your way to show your brain you are safe. Don't stop doing things because of your existential fears! Those fears can't define your days! 💪
