      There is but one question here if you replace the producer's board withe universal one is it still up to code and is it certified so in case something happens your insurance will still cover it a burned down house is more valuable then a saved what 50 € difference between the original board and a universal one

      @@wasserman63 there's no guarantee the original part will not burn your house too. Also OE manufacturer will not give you guarantee for old machine. So once you are trying to repair old stuff - everything is on your own risk.

    Wire that is green with yellow stripe (or yellow with green stripe) should only be used for equipment ground.

    • @Jo-re2ye
      @Jo-re2ye ปีที่แล้ว +20

      In Europe yellow/green wire is used for earth. It should never have live tension on it. Not even neutral. That would be blue wire here. There is still red, black, grey, purple, white, even pink could be used. So no real reason to use yellow/green for anything but earth. Over here even yellow and green monocolour wire isn't used anymore

    "fun" story. ended up here because of a laundry machine with an unobotainable busted board. my 1st thought was "well then, ill make one myself". followed by "yeah... every single time i say that, someone, somewhere, has already thought of it.. so lets check it out"... and here i am hahahaa. my idea was to use arduino, which has been done as well hahaha. this board makes it all way easier tho. thank you kind sir for making this video. it was very instructive. and its clear that you are a proud worker. can tell just by how tidy your work is. congratulations.

    Thank you so much for this video! I have a watching machine in my basement. It was working well for a few years, but then the controller board was damaged. From the connections that were burned I concluded it was a door switch which caught a water and caused a short in a circuit. I left it in the basement for years now in hope I will be able to replace the controller with something new, maybe a Raspberry Pi, or something similar. It's worth to note that I found a new controller for this specific washing machine, but it was to expensive. I could buy a second hand washing machine of the same model for the controller price, so I said nay. What you demonstrated in your video is awesome! I never knew there is something like universal controller we can use. Thank you so much! I learned a new things today from your video.

  • @sergeipshenichnikov6718
    @sergeipshenichnikov6718 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    You made a good video, thank you. But there are a few notes: 1. The yellow-green wire cannot be used anywhere other than Protective Earth (PÉ). 2. Do not connect wires of different colors in the terminal block. 3. Separate the low-current tachometer wires from the power wires in the block on the motor. (This is a sneaky decision by the manufacturers; the mainboard will burn if foam gets on the pad). 4. Blow out the pressure sensor tube, since you've gone so deep.

    • @NicksStuff
      @NicksStuff ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't get the 3. 🤔

    • @sergeipshenichnikov6718
      @sergeipshenichnikov6718 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@NicksStuff This is a fairly common breakdown. When the foam from the tank (it is enough to pour in the hand washing powder once, it will give a lot of foam) comes out of the tank and flows down the outer wall of the tank onto the motor. The foam gets on the open connector and shorts the high voltage of the rotor to the contact of the tachometer sensor. Then the speed sensor circuit on the board will burn out.

Apparently the same board is used in some Whirlpool machines. I recently had to replace the diaphragm/seal in the inlet valve and the shock absorbers. hard to find good quality ones unfortunately. An interesting video. The channel says based in the US but I don't think many people in the US or the UK would want to be messing about with a universal controller especially on an older machine - just buy a second hand board and fit that. The cost of the labour alone would not make it financially viable. It would be cheaper to buy a new machine. There may also be some features on the washing machine which are not provided for in a universal board.

      Its because of affordability (business sell items with Insurance), and they scrap their old appliances and buy another (new or used). Sadly, majority of people in western countries do not practice Green Environmental Protection Laws, i.e. 5Rs
      1 Reduce 2 Reuse 3 Recycle 4 Recover 5 Rethink or Repurpose. We must follow 5Rs. 1. Reduce: Minimize the generation of waste by using resources more efficiently and consuming less. 2. Reuse: Extend the life of products and materials by finding ways to use them again instead of discarding them after a single use. 3. Recycle: Collect, process, and transform materials into new products to prevent them from ending up in landfills. 4. Recover: Extract energy or materials from waste through processes like waste-to-energy, contributing to resource recovery. 5. Repurpose or Rethink: Encourage a shift in thinking and behaviour towards more sustainable choices, considering the environmental impact of decisions and promoting a broader awareness of the consequences of consumption and waste generation. The video looks like from Asia (India or Pakistan), where people cannot afford new things and repair and use old appliances.

    That machine looks spookily similar to an AEG washer-dryer that I threw out when it stopped working. I had fun taking it apart to make it easier to dispose of. I wonder if it was made in the same factory as that one. The control board was available for about £150, but I thought with my luck something else would break soon after. With the state of the UK economy today, I probably wouldn't be so cavalier in discarding it if it happened now.

    Esperando essa novidade chegar aqui no Brasil. Peças de reposição originais às vezes são impossíveis de encontrar.

      Well you can ask a local technician around you, in your area. He will tell you better what the price is for installing a universal Control board.

    Great video and I had no idea you could get a universal controller for washing machines. The one thing I would ask is that you never use the green/yellow wire for anything other than Earth / Ground. If you need another colour of wire, consider using some rings of tape on a colour already used e.g. brown with a black ring.

      There's not much to a washing machine. At its heart is basically a timer. The circuits are run to specific timings, on a cycle. You can see the theory in operation on those old dishwashers that use mechanical mode dials that rotate electrically as the program runs. They are quite simple in theory.

      why is everybody hung up on this?

    • @andyscott5978
      @andyscott5978 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UGPepe if you use the Earth wire as a live conductor and someone other than you works on it, they may well reconnect that “live Earth” to Earth because that’s the universal rule. At best this make a bit of a bang when you turn it all back on at worst it makes every metal item which is connected to Earth in your house (or wherever you’re doing it) live. I’m sure you can work out what the result might be.
      I’ve worked on systems where someone used the Earth as a live and it all went bang when I turned it back on and I’m a qualified electrician. Or were you meaning just the whole alternative controller?

    Is such a significant repair even economically profitable? I live in Europe and a repair of this magnitude (including labor and shipping) would cost more than half the price of a new washing machine. It is then a question whether this is worth doing with, for example, a 5-6 year old washing machine.
    Otherwise, of course, I praise and wonder that you are taking such care of it. Of course, it's not easy, you had to study the washing machine first, which certainly took a few hours of time. And time is money.
