  • @reaper060670
    @reaper060670 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've been wanting to get my hands on a couple of working motors but I'm worried about the wiring of them. I read somewhere that the speed on these is hard to control?
    Is that true and would u need a potentiometer of a type to control it better?
    I'm only really starting into the electronics game now so It's all a little bit scary.
    I want to wire my own CNC Router one day soon but it scares the hell out of me. I guess that is how it is when u don't know much about it.
    I want to build a couple of shop machines using these types of washing machine motors too.
    How powerful are they really? Are they powerful enough to run a belt sander? I do a bit of metal work and I need to build a proper belt sander and I would like to make a saving on the motors if I can.
    I have a 3HP motor from an old Garden shredder that I'm hoping to use for a table saw build soon.

      If you us this on a car, would you have to ground this to the body? is that why they do that?

    • @ethelmini
      @ethelmini ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Eduardo_Espinoza No. Car bodies are good conductors & used as a collective neutral, so all the car's control circuity can be done with single (+ve) wires. An earth on a mains electricity device is for safety by providing a better conductor than you, in case parts that shouldn't be live become live & you touch them creating a circuit through your body. Even if you connected it as an earth for that purpose, while using an external mains supply, the rubber tyres wouldn't conduct well enough & the car body would need earthing too.

    Nice, because the motor needs a electronic, without the motor get faster and faster. The rotation gets so fast that the motor comes to the point of mechanical distruction by the speed of the rotation.

    • @forevertechenglish
      @forevertechenglish  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a true fact, that is why electronic control is important

    • @fly3209
      @fly3209 ปีที่แล้ว

      what you said it is only valid only for a DC power supply and without a minimum load, it will over-speed and destroy itself if not controlled, but for AC power supply, there is no such a problem. In AC, with a triac, you can control the speed very cheaply, the triac will produce very little heat, but you need an EMI filter on AC to block the noise this type of speed control will generate, otherwise you may jam or damage other electronics connected.

    When testing a SERIES connected motor ( like this ) without a mechanical load , the speed can become DANGEROUS ... supply the motor with a much lower AC voltage ( 40 Volts ? ) this will keep the demonstration speed to a safe level ..( tried - n - tested ) ....... DAVE™ ...............

    Can I ask a question about the Capacitors in these motors coming out of a garden Shredder/Wood chipper? Where exactly is the capacitor housed with the motor housing bcos on my motor from the shredder I'm going to steal the whole housing and just cut off the parts I don't want. I'm hoping to use the motor for my table saw build but this capacitor thing is a little bit scary bcos I do not want to get fried for touching that yoke. I have been told they can shock the shit out of u if ur not careful.. LOL

    • @reaper060670

      @@forevertechenglish I found this Garden Shredder 2400W in my garage. It's called a Champion, made in the UK I believe. 2006 is the year on shredder. This was never used. It actually sat under a load of crap in my garage for over 15 or more years. I know bcos I was told it was left in the garage and never taken out of the box.
      It's a 3HP motor. It has a plastic housing and this steel plate over the top of it with the blade housing fitted into a round sort of opening. I tried to get the motor out but it needs to be kept in it's housing so I will have to do some cutting and shaping of the top part which holds the blade in.
      It's a nice quiet motor actually. I wanted to ask about this capacitor bcos I could not see one.
      There must be one inside the housing somewhere but I will need to take it fully apart to find out where it is kept within the motor housing. Do all these motors have capacitors? The ones in these shredders I mean?
      Appreciate the reply my friend. I'm hoping to use this 3HP on my table saw build. THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE PLAN ANYWAYS..lol
