There's also the U.S.S. Venture, the flagship of the relief force in DS9 Way of the Warrior that debuted the dorsal phaser strips on the nacelles. Kid-me decided that must mean they got sick of Galaxys exploding and overhauled the tactical systems, especially since Gowron sitting in his new Negh'var flagship with a hundred ships around him was concerned enough about a task force of only 1 Galaxy and 5 other ships getting close to withdraw.
Yep, those are Galaxy II’s and they launched with something like 30% of their hull space empty. The rest of the ship heavily focused on combat to include increased shields, additional phaser strips, better arcs, etc. The Galaxy II program took what was a heavily armed cruise ship and converted it into a true-blue battle cruiser/battleship with an insane amount of kick-ass built in. There’s a reason why Starfleet used Galaxy II’s as command ships for their Galaxy wings. You throw in a Galaxy Ii and a couple of Nebulas with weapon pods and you’re looking at a nearly 35 torpedo frontal volley and 45-50 torpedo rear volley. That’s a whole lotta boom…. big boom…. big…. mucho grande…. big boom.
During the dominion war, my head cannon is that every Galaxy receives a "war saucer" in replacement for their "exploration saucer," and a warp core swap. The new core would be optimised for higher power output instead of fuel efficiency. Basically, it turns the Galaxy from a heavy explorer in too a full blown battleship. Its shields, weapons, structural integrity, critical system redundancy (coughs in starboard power coupling) 😂., and overall survivability have all been 3 X enhanced. It would be easy, the heavy explorer variation was so limited in its combat and defensive capabilites. This is my rationalisation of how it went from glass cannon to the tankiest tank that has ever tanked in federation history. With a punch like an angry chuck norris.
I think the UFP was also experiencing minor conflict from other states, such as the Tzenkethi, Tamarians and perhaps the tholians in the 2240s-50s as well.
@qetoun yeah to clarify we know those conflicts happened in alpha canon, but beta canon is what a lot of info about how large they were comes from. Even so as you said the cardies were the big bads that really got starfleet in the modernization route.
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely greatly wonderfully well done and very well informatively explained and executed in every detail way shape and format provided on the Galaxy Class Background And Construction; A job very nicely fabulously well done indeed Sir!👌.
The Galaxy class was a great ship for TNG and I really liked the Nebula class too. I’ve said before that i love families of classes that share a common design language. Ships that share components makes sense to rather than ever ship being bespoke. I could loved to have seen some of the other project Galaxy classes fully on screen. They ranged in size and style and would have filled many roles.
Maybe the uss syracuse had installed and sovergine class warp core that could explaind whu retrofitted enterprise d rebuild wirh syracuse stardrive section could bogugie move and roll hard
Megellon and cortez , venture, were the other named ships, ( enterprise, yomato odyssey) in the initial wave , but mass produced during the doninion war
Brahms was a bit young to have created the initial reactor design for the class, don't you think? It makes more sense to me to think that she helped create an improved design based on results from the USS Galaxy's shakedown. Memory Alpha says she did that work in 2263, which would have been incredibly late in the life of the Galaxy program. I believe the Galaxy herself should have been in service already by that point. My headcanon is that they Galaxy gave them valuable data which they used to modify and improve the class's systems to the point that the upgraded Galaxy-class was almost an entirely different class than the original prototype USS Galaxy.
She does ask Geordie what he did to her engine in tng. I assume she was a prodigy who started out assisting with the project before being given overarching authority. But canon isn’t clear.
@@starshipreviews It's clear the Enterprise has her engine design. It's not clear she also designed the engine for the original USS Galaxy. I'm pretty sure in that episode they say what year she worked on the engine and it was like a year before the Big D launched. So in that case it wouldn't make sense that she did the engine on the USS Galaxy as well, as it would have launched some time earlier. But! Time dilation is absolutely a thing. She may have spent some time on a planet where time moved slower relative to outside space, so maybe she wasn't even that young when she did it. She could have done the Galaxy-line engine, spent a few years in time dilation, and then come out to do the Enterprise's engine. I've always thought it was weird that Trek doesn't address time dilation more often, but I guess it would be confusing for the audience.
Drives me nuts that the galaxy class was designed to serve for a century with a refit every 20 years or so and they kept calling it old in season 3 of Picard. Like if they would have rolled out in the Enterprise A, sure...
When was the the galaxy uss sarycuse built? What happened to uss sarycuse suacer section? After the success of the sovergone class was galaxy class ship uss sarycuse used to teat to upgrade galaxy to use sovergine level tech and to test tect for the galaxy class dreadnuaght ships? At 04:33 that is not a Starfleet Starbase or insulation that's a totally different franchise in Universe bro mixing up your Syfy best Gateway Station built by Weyland yutani used by the Colonial Marine Corps and the Wayland NuTone Corporation launching ships and handling cargo. Did Doctor Strange make another incursion

That was actually the name of one of the ships I couldn’t think of!
Limitations of the time of the show using models, and on tv budget

The galaxy class is a gorgeous looking ship, there was no need to get rid of it in Generations, but they wanted to sell, more toys/models.
That's a great rendering. Looking forward to the video.
Glad you like it

I think that´s what would have happened irl.
I still love the galaxy class no matter what happened to her…imo one of the best looking space frames Star fleet ever had
How bout the venture? The galaxy refit ? Good looking video though…and good luck to you dude! Keep us updated
That galaxy class art is bluddy awesome mate. Love it.
I’m really happy with that one myself!!!

There were a few reasons for sure, but I didn’t want to get into beta canon all that much here.
@@starshipreviews Oh I don't think its bata lore, just from one line comments, but yeh, the Cardassians were the real threat.

I love this generation as well. Going to hopefully cover them all
Thanks missed this
You forgot about the USS Syracuse that eventually donated its engines to the rebuilt Enterprise D
Those were some hot engines too! That star drive could boogie!

Nice video dude.🖖
Glad you think so!
At 04:34 that was from the Aliens franchise, if I am not mistaken.
A brownie point for you

Let's be honest if you were a captain of another ship and saw a Galaxy class heading your way, you would drop a captains log!
