      with that specific movie the crowd is a feature of watching it that you'd know about before seeing it at a theater. IMO he's correct about watching that specific movie for the first time by yourself instead of with a group so that you can make your own judgements instead of people yelling out the lines ahead of time, but what sucks now is that this kind of behavior seems to be leaking into other movies. I remember there being some capeshit movie last year that was infamous for grown men in the audience clapping and cheering whenever their favorite hero popped up (I think it was the Spiderman movie that had every Spiderman in it), so it might no longer be a thing contained to The Room showings

    Has any Scottish person got a mate, or know of anybody with a mate, or who might have a mate, who knows of *anyone* who might have a mate who might shout "foreshadowing" at a cult movie screening?
    Nope. But I'm not as cool as you no doubt think... I need to confess something.
    Once my American 'cousins' came to visit, and me and my brother got charged with going to the cinema, the UGC when it first opened, through Sighthill, on the bus. Couple of mad punters on the bus as per. No idea what they thought of it. We went to see American Sweethearts, which was shite, and sat in the front row, which was shite. But I came away thinking it was great because my cousins slapped their thighs at every attempted joke, and said loud stuff to 'make the movie better'. Instead of plunging them in the chest, I'm afraid to say that me and my brother... we were so desperate to get along with them for a week that we... we... joined in. 😖
    I've been so ashamed of this for years. I sometimes fall asleep feeling the weight of my 17yo cringe.
    Thanks for opening my soul to experience this cleansing, Limmy.

  • @NiMayne
    @NiMayne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've been to a couple showings hosted by Denny's actor - the experience is quite bad. You either get the pros that have their jokes lined up and scripted because they've seen the movie 100 times or you get people with absolutely no ability to read a room or any social skills to even attempt to be clever or funny, yet they will still just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind which often times will land completely flat as it made no sense. Both are equally unpleasant because there's no organic riffing taking place, both instances are individuals just trying to obtain as much attention in the moment as possible.
    This movie is best enjoyed with friends in a private setting.

That would be make it really fucking annoying wouldn't it?
    Or maybe not. Maybe the odd reaction, outburst, and joke is okay if people are already familiar with the content and don't mind joining in with the antics. Maybe the people getting upset by it shouldn't attend or participate if they don't want to and shouldn't be a grumpy old twat about it?

      i don't know if you're scottish or not, i can't explain why it is unless i try to think about it. but it's incredibly cringe for most of us to see a bunch of folk in the cinema shout just quotes and "woooo" at the screen. maybe it doesn't help that the foreshadowing guy sounds like a nerd thinking he's funny...
      it's probably not a good thing we cringe so easily, but that's how it is. you even get made fun of for riding riding a bike in central scotland outside Edinburgh lol, unless it's teenagers on BMXs

      @@oight I'm Australian and that's actually super interesting. Like, Australia has a fair bit of tall poppy syndrome and hate of different things but not to that level haha

      It’s the way they’re having fun. Foreshadowing guy has spotted a film foreshadowing something, gone to a public viewing and shouted it in a ‘know it all’ tone just so everybody knows how clever he is. Same as the people shouting their ‘witty’ comments.
      Then there’s the wooing which is way over the top by UK standards so it’s also a bit cringe. We just get embarrassed by people being overly enthusiastic like that. It’s just a cultural difference though. Americans probably think we need to lighten up, whereas we think they should tone it down a bit. I don’t think either of us are right or wrong, just different.

      What’s cringe is the thought of everyone waiting for their moment to chime in with their witty remarks about what is happening on screen, its attention seeking and combined with the woohooing and cheering it is just very annoying to your average person living on the british isles

    God, Limmy is annoying. Always a little smarter than everyone else, especially americans. What he doesn't get is that he is exacly like that audience in all his videos, like he's the only one who gets it. That scene is not "alright", he just says it to be edgy and different.

    Stuff like this makes me want to make a video breaking down Limmy into out of context bits that demonstrate how "cringe" he his. "Now don't forget you're not like these plebs you're above all that, enjoying things isn't cool unlike me."
