- Josh's MX5 NC hasn't had an easy life. The original 500bhp SR20 engine blew up and now the Mazda MX5 NC needs a new look to match the crazy new engine going in. See through doors, one-off bodykit and fresh wheels should do the job nicely. This MX5 might just become one of the world's craziest looking drift cars if we can finish this Mazda right! What you guys think?

Utterly bonkers. I'd probably cover them with the new wrap a little so they look more integrated, but fair play. Mental idea and you pulled it off. Love these videos of Josh working on his cars. He just gets stuck in and gives it a go

You need to do a see through bonnet as well that will really add to the see through doors.

Clear doors gotta be one of the coolest things I’ve seen. Seen poly hoods but this could be a proximity game changer while in drift
I chased an LS swapped 350 with poly doors at an event this season. Probably the sickest mod of any of the cars on track. Must be nuts to drive it.
That is the 1st MX-5 I have ever seen with a clear passenger side door. It's looking like one sweet drift car on the track...
I love the idea! I highly recommend painting a black backing on the back of the perspex, like the black border on a windscreen. It'll really clean up the look of the clear doors. Maybe make some thin alloy strips for the top and bottom edges to smooth out those wrinkles too and more evenly distribute the screw pressure. You can do cool stuff with those to tie in the look. Polished? Brushed? Painted? Who knows.
Once the wrap is integrated in to it and it’s sprayed behind it will look much better… we’re hoping haha
@@driftgames_life still worth doing anyway i think. especially the alloy reinforcement strip. I've worked with that plastic before and it's gonna Crack at the screw holes at the slightest stress if not all on their own. i really like it and i don't want to see it fail!
Very much liking the new style of video lads. With the bumper, it actually looks like the car has fangs with the bumper bar protruding through.

love the doors might, an idea that might be bit stupid or an accidental stroke of genius but led strip lights hung form the door bar or the floor to show off the door bar could look amazing.

NC MX5s were almost soooo good. To me it’s just the bonnet shape that puts me off. They just needed a straight line between the headlights, or a second smaller grill. Rather than the really odd tongue looking thing. Granted your new kit and the polycarbonate door panels add style and distract from it but it’ll always be the thing that makes NB MX5s my fave.

The doors blew my mind. I hope your going to leave them clear. Otherwise why do it. Are they going to be strong enough like the standard door or will th we y need a few supports welded in. The kit to looks well brutal.

How's that angle kit? I'm pretty interested in it as a nice middle ground vs. Wisefab. The RX8 I'm getting around to will be more than a cut knuckle job, but Wisefab would be silly overkill.
Really good and a great price, the kit has been improved twice since the kit on my car so looking forward to see the the results in the new kit

The car has no engine in the front it up about 5 inches 🙈 when the engines in it should be flat 🤗

You guys should check out the cyberpunk MX5 on the channel Tofu Auto Works. That's gonna be hard to beat for the wildest looking one.

All I wanna see is more footage of the nc drifting , smaller turbo , more midrange , stop bashing limiter, rubber engine mounts, rubber gearbox mount, rubber diff mount , = lesss engine harmonics = bottom end staying together

The NC has only been out 14 years 🤔
@@driftgames_life 20 years was probably a exaggeration im only 33 but at least 10 years ago when I bothered going out to meet ups there was a 13b turbo one and a sr one There was eleven a 4g63 swaped one around at one point
We specifically said NC (the 2005 to 2015) model. The others are much easier to engine swap

No as the a lot of the hard work was putting in the engine 🙈 hopefully the new engine will be bullet proof 💪

So I love the doors but when I first saw Frist think that came to my head before u side it josh was just think James Dean is changing u and all u can see is he's tyre right up beside ya oh fuck but so cool but will be scary too and he will leave marks that won't come out that's the only down side any marks left will be a pain

Why choose an mx5 chassis of all things to drift in comp?
I like mx5’s and this has the longest wheel base of all of them. Build what you like and you make it work…. Eventually 😂
