      @@berniedmj1 They don’t sell separately yet because it’ll put them into competition with their vehicle suppliers. Once they start selling separate components from their vans, they’re no longer designing for Mercedes or Ford’s vans that they buy from the manufacturer to sell, they’re designing for you. Which makes Mercedes and Ford less money.

      These "custom" vans are a joke. They are $60-75k more than drive-off-the-lot vans that often look nicer. To make matters worse, custom vans will depreciate faster than national branded drive-off-the-lot vans.
      In most cases, I've been seeing lower quality and no additional utility. I don't get it... at all.

    Love the countertop with sink cover that’s a cutting board AND flush. I want someone to make the bed high enough to leave bikes inside! 36 inches of clearance! I also don’t want to make a bed every day and break down and/or store bedding. Not even fold it or move it. Winnebago almost got it right with the revel, with the moving loft bed. Push a button and it goes away. Now if someone can do the moving loft bed but have the factory installed down position just higher, WIN. Can put the cabinets above wheel wheels and under bed! Also on floor. And can sit on those for workspace. Waiting for someone to do it!!!

    Lovely van, great build but quite a few of these "patent pending" innovations have been around for a long time, there are many examples of each in van builds, house builds, caravans, moterhomes and furniture cabinetry etc, what's next on the patent pending agenda, the wheel?

    • @ELwow2
      @ELwow2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct like about the privacy door but there are specific difference from tradition design, like it is triple panel door which is required to seal the opening on a compact van also the attorney said there is no wing leg support for the bed in the patent search. It is completely new.

    • @18000rpm
      @18000rpm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ELwow2 You need a better patent attorney. Wing legs have been around for ages and just because you use it for a bed instead of a table doesn't mean you can patent it. After paying lots of money for the patent lawyer you're going to find your invention rejected by the patent examiner for not being novel nor unobvious.

    Sub out the black tank for either Laveo dry flush, composting toilet or incinerating toilet. Not sure about that bed shape. Otherwise it's literally perfect! Like to see the 170 design. Possibly allows a normal bed shape?

    • @ELwow2
      @ELwow2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The idea of a trapezoid shape bed came about in a trip when my wife and I had to sleep in a hotel with only one available twin bed. Unable to turn and near claustrophobia, we tried a new way to fit, head to toes, my head next to her toes (69 haha). We managed to go through the night with good rest that day. Human bodies are wider at the shoulder and narrower at the feet so by following the body contour, it can save space for a larger kitchen and bathroom which is much needed in a 144. Try that next time you get in a crunch and you will be amazed. Yes, you can buy a 170 with normal shape bed which we also have available and it is king size but you might get chased around by police, neighbors or having to circle all over the place to find parking. Also hard to book a campsite with 170 because most of the popular sites in Yosemite will only fit a 19.5 footer 144WB.

      @@ELwow2 All good points. Can you use one of the other type toilets I mentioned and get rid of the black tank, or use it for fresh water?

    What kind of insurance you have on that van?Can you value it as Mercedes Sprinter worth 200k?

    Sorry to say this. But the pending patents will never go through. The mattress is divided in three parts. And the bed rests on two legs that are on hinges. It’s not that revolutionary. Nice van though.

    patent pending on so many designs already in use... guess those others should have thought of patent pending first as none of that is new. not even back in 2010
