- A teen actress is assaulted on set and the detectives soon discover that there are many problematic campaigns against her.
Season 6, Episode 3 'Obscene': A teenage actress (Maggie Grace) is raped while sleeping in her trailer. The producer (Nestor Serrano) of the show, which features sexually suggestive content, suspects that the rape was orchestrated as part of a media decency campaign led by a protective mother (Dana Delany). The SVU discovers that it was her son (Ricky Ullman) who committed the rape because he thought it would impress a radio shock jock (Lewis Black). This leads to two trials focusing on the influence and power of entertainment media.

Back in the day, when Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan were trashed by the media for being a mad influence, I wondered why nobody trashed their managers? Or their parents for allowing it?
That's what I was saying, like they didn't ask to be exported, and people wonder why they have mental issues and What's such, it's just the person who uses them for money and the parents for fame
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Lohan was enabled by her mother! When she was arrested for DUI once, her mother said that kids were going to act that way anyways!
@@symoneyoung326at least Brittany had an actual medical excuse. She's bipolar and requires lifelong medication.
Lindsey was just a spoiled entitled diva whose parents let her do whatever she wanted.
"She thinks she is so perfect, but all she does is give kids somebody to blame when they do something wrong. Kids shoot up a high school, blame Marilyn Manson."
Sounds like this girl is far wiser than the so called advocate. That woman is a spiteful hypocrite who cares more about her image than her own family.
So true and why I hate parents like her she does what to fix problems but caused them and cover it up
I know most of these stories have a basis on something real. Sadly this sort of thing is FAR form unheard of.
This is another reason why we need God and Jesus to guide us. As good as we wish we could be, we can't navigate this world without Him. When we try to do it on our own we either believe the lies that others tell us and fall into the kind of traps that girls like Marilyn fall into, or we turn into unfeeling, judgment people like this boys mother. We are limited, small minded, imperfect, and prone to sin, but God in His mercy knows what we could be with Him working in our lives.
Matthew 28:20
God promises He will never leave nor forsake us on our journey.
Through deep waters, even fire, He will be with us always. Always working-pursuing the lost, restoring the broken, calming the anxious, comforting the lonely, helping the angry, encouraging the fearful, and forgiving the guilty.

Yeah, great maternal figure. Too busy ranting bout this girl instead of rearing her kids properly. She could be using that energy teaching her children morality and good values.
She's a hypocrite is what she is.
She is even a liar, since I heard no remorse in her voice.

It's a sad thing when the kid prefers his cell over a room with his mother.
That's because he let himself be led by emotions once he does get to prison with a hard R charge he's going to wish he was back in that room with his mommy
@@TwoStacks217 Maybe but even still with what she did to him, and his life pretty much over at this point anyways he probably doesn't even care about that at this point.
why blame the girl when they should blame the industry that is forcing her to do that type of stuff because certainly at a young age it is not like she has much of a say (and they get manipulated in doing nsfw as an excuse to gain popularity and exposure etc. at times even the parents are the ones to push them onto that realm)
blaming the victim is blaming the wrong person (especially when back then contracts were basically slave contracts way worse than before and even if she wouldn't want to she could have been forced)
Not saying this to victim blame, but if I remember right, she emancipated herself because of her parents exploiting her acting career. She's actually married to the director of her show.
@@Caitlynn552 that tells you everything you need to know
It is tragic :/
It goes two ways. At best the industry enables and indulges the teenagers wanting to dress scantily because it feels rebellious and liberating to be allowed to without fear of getting into trouble, and they get paid. Teens eat that up. That doesn't mean they never are uncomfortable and often get exploited, they just learn to accept they will inevitably experience that discomfort--that, within [legel reason] its part of the job.
@@ShadowSkyX doesn't mean it's right though.
the masses online are also at fault here. they demand stuff like this. though the industry is at fault too as well as the actresses and actor's.
"I did it for you!"
Classic hypocrisy of a toxic parent.
At the end of day, a 16 y/o SIXTEEN child was taken advantage of. It is not her fault for her pictures it not fault for her r@pe. In this case, the mother should have looked at her as if she were her child by not throwing judgment towards her but to the people who use her for her looks, age, or anything, and I know this wasn't in the episode but as well as her parent/s who put her in that position in the first place

Poor Danny. Having an awful woman for a mother who cared more for her own cause than the safety and wellbeing of her two kids. Her son RAPED a 16-year-old girl, and the first thing she does is pay for photos of her shooting a radio show host just to make herself look like a hero or something. She wasn't even thinking about what would happen to her daughter if she was arrested. The kids should have been given to their dad.

I don’t that makes sense. Can’t be sorry for doing something you did if you didn’t do it
I get being angry at people who say “I’m sorry” after fucking up or even doing monstrous things, but it is kinda dumb to say “don’t do the crime”.
I think they meant he only acted sorry after he got arrested. If he was really sorry for what he did to her a) he would’ve confessed immediately, b) not bragged about it on the radio, and c) plead guilty in the first place

This is and forever will be my favorite episode of SVU. I mean, sure it's not as intense as most other episodes, but it still discusses some really important facts. Also, Danny's mom was a total hypocrite who cared more about her cause than her own kid. And the worst part is she got away with it.
She got away with prosecution but her reputation is tarnished for eternity. In the end no one rallies to the cause of a woman who is unfit to be a mother

I've always liked this show, Law and Order SVU. I think it's been on for SO long, is so popular among women, and is an important show, because it dramatizes sexual crimes mostly against women, children, and even men; gives voice to victims of these crimes, maintains awareness of these types of crimes, and shows how sad, horrible, and that there are consequences for these types of crimes. Of all the tv shows, this one is important for these reasons, serves a definite purpose in our society, which has gotten a lot worse over many years
Regardless of the outcome this woman just destroyed her career and future projects along with her sons respect. She can never get back any of those things, the real question is which one actually hurt her the most cause I’m thinking losing her career as a SLT shamer of innocent girls.

here’s a thought: celebrities are NOT responsible for being a role model to the public. they can be whatever they want to be in their terms. if you don’t like it, then act like a parent and watch out for your kids, don’t police celebrities bc are not responsible for your kids
So much easier to look outward and blame others than to look inward and realize you did something wrong.

Anger from "Inside Out"
We loved this episode. Mr. Black, right? The BJ guy. Hilarious.
Kids shouldn’t be doing this kind of thing. And this kind of thing shouldn’t exist in the first place. I get where the mom came from, but she took it too far.
I love how the mom says “let the network move the show to 10pm and I’ll shut up”
So it’s the network’s responsibility to parent children and control what they can watch. Not the actual parents. Regardless of how you feel morally, a TV network is NOT a parent. They are a business meant to sell a product. If parents don’t want their kids to watch a certain program, then maybe be more freaking involved in their lives so they understand why you don’t want them to watch it, or at least control them more so they have a harder time accessing it.
I’m not saying it’ll work 100% of the time- I was a teenager, I got clever hiding CDs from artists my mom didn’t want me listening to. But there was also a ton of stuff I didn’t get into bc she was involved in my life.
The mom is such a horrible person!
In cases like this, I would ask if I could "Was it worth it?" She lost her son, potentially forever and not just because he's in prison but because of her own actions that she did 'because she loved her son'. Did she really think he would want her to do what she did or thank her for what she did? She might've been wondering the same thing in that final moment when she cried after he left.
I think that's the same question Danny should've asked himself.
I was wondering where I've seen the son before. That's Phil from Phil of The Future!
The actress playing the mom is Dana Delaney.
Love her! China Beach, and Tombstone were my favorites.
4:13 “I was just tryna get on the BJ show”
Lol I kinda chuckled at that comment 😂
And in case you’re wondering, she was STILL declared not guilty at the end.
She wasn't found "not guilty", the jury deadlocked and a mistrial was declared.
Also, "You did the right thing"? What? Assaulting a girl in such a disgusting way was the right thing? He's worse than the mom. At least she didn't endorse such evil behaviour.
Who's the "she" you're referring to?

She becomes so obsessed with her own propaganda, that she is too blind with hubris that she is become the real and true definition of a bad role model.
Phil of the Future really should've went back to the 22nd century
I remember when this episode came out and all i could think of was that "Phil of the future" got real frustrated not being in the future anymore.

@3:10 Isn't the radio guy the bug professor on "the big bang theory"?
Why is everyone focusing on the mom? What she did pales in comparison to the 🍇 her son did.
Puts despicable behavior on blast.
Strange enough I new it was the kid for the wrong reason, when the mum said she was to busy to take the kids to school and the look of disappointment in his eyes I jumped to the conclusion that he did it to try and stop his mother obsession with this random girl and focus on her own kids, so wrong formula but right answer
Real mother of the year material right there. /s
In my opinion, that mom should be behind bars in jail. not the son. She influenced him and she dared claim that it was the actress's fault, but whose more dangerous to influence the media or the parents. She ruined the lives of her children and a perfect stranger. The kids are better off with their dad.
I think the dad will get custody of this event.
this is incredibly stupid take, the son RAPED her. The mother, as awful as she may be, is not responsible for that
Unfortunately, the Danny Spencer is probably still in prison, and the jury deadlocked in the Carolyn Spencer case.
Lewis Black was brilliant in this.
Cant believe Phil of the Future would do something like this.
Don't ban stuff, just educate them on why you dislike what they are interested in.
Let them make up their own mind, they might find something entertaining, and not support what's being done anyway..
I remember this the character of Danny this reminds of an famous actor Raviv Ullman ( Phil Diffy ) of the hit Disney show Phil of the Future.
WOW he's a good teen actor.
And believe it or not, but Mommy Dearest got away with it too because the jury deadlocked 6 to 6 on the verdict.
