Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge Stories from Bengaluru, Kochi, and Vadodara

Early Childhood Development facilities such as Anganwadis (early childhood learning and care centres) and Public Health Centers (PHC) are the public spaces accessed by young children and caregivers the most. Their specific needs, which are distinct from those of other users are seldom considered while designing these spaces. Creating nurturing environments in Anganwadis and PHCs where they spend long hours by developing these spaces to be engaging, comfortable, safe and accessible can go a long way in supporting their health and wellbeing.
The #NurturingNeighbourhoodsChallenge has prompted the cities to reimagine these ECD facilities as public spaces for the community that can be used even post operational hours. The NNC cities are taking unique approaches to transform these spaces into accessible, safe and inclusive public spaces, corresponding to their varied challenges. This webinar narrates stories of change in Bengaluru, Kochi, and Vadodara and the steps taken by the decision-makers in the city to sustain these solutions in the long run.
