CVT in a sporty coupe seems odd though. Didn't Honda have manual in CR-Z so hybrid is no excuse. Also really wish for hatchback akin to Audi TT which would make it work as an only car for singles or couples w/o kids.
The Rivian, too. I know two people (both doctors) that own an R1S and R1T and they absolutely love them. I’m excited for something like that which I could actually afford.

@ikuturso7570 There's actually no CVT in the Prelude or even the current Civic/Accord hybrids, Honda refers to it as an eCVT. There's no real transmission in the Honda hybrid system, it's a direct drive system, so there are none of the mechanical components that make CVTs questionable.

I can answer number 2. Watched a podcast with him and he said the place where he is at now has no rooms, so while he is filming, the only places his team can handle business without interrupting the video and their phone calls is to do it inside the cars.

Honda is on the right track bringing the Prelude back now, while the rest of their lineup is pretty solid. That's how many companies back in the day made their money. Husband gets the Prelude, Wife gets the Accord, Son/Daughter gets the civic. Edit: why the heck didn't i think of a mustang raptor.
Jaguar is not afraid of dumping their traditional buyer. They are going straight for the Chinese market. The Chinese market is fast growing and wealthy. And they are always looking for the next new crazy thing.
@ China is a massive market with 1.4 Billion people by itself, and Chinese youth of today are much more open to non-conforming sexuality than the Communist government was decades ago when they were oppressed. Jaguar is ditching the older market in favor of the youth who now have a lot of money and more open minded than their grandparents. This market campaign really sticks out and lets the younger crowd with a lot of money to rebel in a sense against their previous generations.
It takes thousands of engineers and R&D costs to make a petrol engine that meets emission regulations and can reliably drive hundreds of thousands of miles.
See on your comment it appears you’re not aware of government regulations around corporate average fuel economy (CAFE). Once you’re acquainted with CAFE you will no longer wonder why V8s are disappearing from passenger cars.
I am also excited about the new Rivians, but will continue to wait until EV's come standard with new battery technology (Solid State, etc.). I want high mileage with short charge times, until then they are not on my short list.
Considering how absolutely beautiful most Jaguar's have been, I think those concept renderings are horrible, flat and unimaginative. Lacking the incredibly sexy curves they are known for.

Excited for Rivian! I'm wishing for a Rivian station wagon, imo it offers close to practicality/space to a crossover in a small at size. Since they're lower to the ground, they allow easier loading/offloading and the hatch helps a lot. I just like station wagons lol
I think the new Bugatti has it’s own look. People are saying the Revuelto looks like an Aventador too but I don’t think so. Every brand has it’s own design language and signature features. That’s how someone can recognize that a Revuelto is a Lamborghini or that the Tourbillon is a Bugatti but they are still distinct in their own ways too.

Honestly I don't see the f80 being more exciting that the W1. The W1 is RWD, Lighter, Has a Newley developed V8, McLaren handling. The F80 looks less inspiring and has a V6 that, while good, we have already seen in the 296gtb.
No way you think it’s a newly built v8 when they use it in all of their cars. It’s probably the same drive chain they’ve been using forever. End of the day the f80 is faster with better downforce and looks better imo. But we’ll have to see track times to be sure

He's a car review channel and a car guy. He most likley is just excited to 1 see it release the specs etc etc and 2 review it. He even says "number X car im excited to review this year"
So good to see the Honda Prelude return to the States again, even as a hybrid. It does look more so the part to its classic name than the CRZ did to the CRX. Although if they do a Prelude Si/Type-R, they do have the high performance Civics to take that from as well.
I enjoy that the F80's driver's seat is a proper race bucket, and the passenger's seat looks like it's "half a bench seat". A very clear "you're not supposed to have a passenger when you're making full use of this vehicle."
I'll give Honda all the credit in the world for coming out of left field and introducing a sports coupe into this market with the Prelude moniker. I was so excited when I first saw it, especially from the front. That side view that Doug showed holds a lot to be desired, however. The greatest, most attractive car Honda ever built remains the 1991 Honda Prelude SI.
Never knew about the Mustang Raptor, but as soon as Doug described it as some 'Mustang truck thing' I instantly thought... Ranchero...? Like a modern day sporty/offroad focussed Ranchero with guts from the mustang? That would be badass

You missed the most compelling argument for Scout. It's not just an EV. They offer a range extension option. It is all the benefits of these cool EVs like rivian with now 0 compromise.

Doug is being hypocrite here He criticizes McLaren all the time for building so many special McLarens. But he doesn't do same for ferrari, which also makes ton of special cars. He's excited about flagship ferrari F80 which comes every 10 years, but he refuses to acknowledge W1 as a real F80 competitor, which is successor to P1.
By far, the quirkiest thing about the McLaren W1 is the active rear wing in the back which goes 11.8 inches backwards when fully extended. If there's ever a brand that has become synonymous with active aero, particularly active rear spoilers/wings, it's McLaren and the W1's rear spoiler is certainly a setpiece.

I've got a 10th car for Doug - the random Chinese car that's full of quirks and that he had never heard of 15 minutes before reviewing.

Honda is on the right track bringing the Prelude back now, while the rest of their lineup is pretty solid. That's how many companies back in the day made their money. Husband gets the Prelude, Wife gets the Accord, Son/Daughter gets the civic.

Jaguar is not afraid of dumping their traditional buyer. They are going straight for the Chinese market. The Chinese market is fast growing and wealthy. And they are always looking for the next new crazy thing.

@ China is a massive market with 1.4 Billion people by itself, and Chinese youth of today are much more open to non-conforming sexuality than the Communist government was decades ago when they were oppressed. Jaguar is ditching the older market in favor of the youth who now have a lot of money and more open minded than their grandparents. This market campaign really sticks out and lets the younger crowd with a lot of money to rebel in a sense against their previous generations.

Exactly - every company outside Tesla wasting R&D on EVs and not making new releases ICE are in big financial trouble.
It takes thousands of engineers and R&D costs to make a petrol engine that meets emission regulations and can reliably drive hundreds of thousands of miles.

See on your comment it appears you’re not aware of government regulations around corporate average fuel economy (CAFE). Once you’re acquainted with CAFE you will no longer wonder why V8s are disappearing from passenger cars.
I am also excited about the new Rivians, but will continue to wait until EV's come standard with new battery technology (Solid State, etc.). I want high mileage with short charge times, until then they are not on my short list.

Considering how absolutely beautiful most Jaguar's have been, I think those concept renderings are horrible, flat and unimaginative. Lacking the incredibly sexy curves they are known for.

Excited for Rivian! I'm wishing for a Rivian station wagon, imo it offers close to practicality/space to a crossover in a small at size. Since they're lower to the ground, they allow easier loading/offloading and the hatch helps a lot. I just like station wagons lol

I think the new Bugatti has it’s own look. People are saying the Revuelto looks like an Aventador too but I don’t think so. Every brand has it’s own design language and signature features. That’s how someone can recognize that a Revuelto is a Lamborghini or that the Tourbillon is a Bugatti but they are still distinct in their own ways too.

Hey there, Doug. I have to say I appreciate your reviews and have followed you for quite some time. I’ve been inspired by so many creators, like yourself, that I decided to give it a shot this year so I am in the “discovery” phase at the moment. I guess one of my big questions would be how is a creator able to use logos and photos of cars without facing trademark issues cause I’m having a hard time understanding this information. I just finished listening to a podcast on how you got started, your history, and I have to say I appreciate your style as well. Honestly I don't see the f80 being more exciting that the W1. The W1 is RWD, Lighter, Has a Newley developed V8, McLaren handling. The F80 looks less inspiring and has a V6 that, while good, we have already seen in the 296gtb.
No way you think it’s a newly built v8 when they use it in all of their cars. It’s probably the same drive chain they’ve been using forever. End of the day the f80 is faster with better downforce and looks better imo. But we’ll have to see track times to be sure

So good to see the Honda Prelude return to the States again, even as a hybrid. It does look more so the part to its classic name than the CRZ did to the CRX. Although if they do a Prelude Si/Type-R, they do have the high performance Civics to take that from as well.

I enjoy that the F80's driver's seat is a proper race bucket, and the passenger's seat looks like it's "half a bench seat". A very clear "you're not supposed to have a passenger when you're making full use of this vehicle."

I'll give Honda all the credit in the world for coming out of left field and introducing a sports coupe into this market with the Prelude moniker. I was so excited when I first saw it, especially from the front. That side view that Doug showed holds a lot to be desired, however. The greatest, most attractive car Honda ever built remains the 1991 Honda Prelude SI.

The Ferrari F80’s wheels are a direct grab from the Porsche Taycan; however, it still looks exciting!

You missed the most compelling argument for Scout. It's not just an EV. They offer a range extension option. It is all the benefits of these cool EVs like rivian with now 0 compromise.

By far, the quirkiest thing about the McLaren W1 is the active rear wing in the back which goes 11.8 inches backwards when fully extended. If there's ever a brand that has become synonymous with active aero, particularly active rear spoilers/wings, it's McLaren and the W1's rear spoiler is certainly a setpiece.
