This is the best tutorial vid out there for the Apache!!!! covers everything in easy to understand language - seen so many tutorials that you need to be a qualified pilot to understand - thanks man !!!!
Dude you should do more Apache tuts. Even this is not the tutorial by definition, it's better than most i saw there. For me Apache is pretty hard to grasp with time i have atm so i stopped learning it. But after this video i think i will try again. Would like to see more basic tut's from you. Great job! Subbed
Cheers mate, yeah time is the enemy of us all hey 🤪 I do plan on working my way through the modules, I need to put some time back into her too, it’s been a hot minute since I took her for a spin
You trimmed it rock steady. I can never get it "just right" like that without using alt and att hold modes 😞 Keep up the vids please, I enjoy watching them.
There's tons of tutorials already out there but I learned a ton watching you put it all together in a long form sortie! Awesome content and took copious notes :p Would you mind sharing your HOCAS mappings? Wags is using the Virpil and I followed along best I could but he has some hats or hat presses the TM Warthog doesn't have so would be interested in how you got yours set up. Edited to add: on the gun ranging, I think the radar altimeter isn't on by default when cold starting after the update. Go to FLT > SET > then activate RADALT ^_^
I think from memory I used the same axis tune I have set up for the hornet for its TDC. I’m not at home atm so can’t tell you the exact numbers but in some of my videos I have gone through my axis tune for the TDC so start with that and go from there 👌🏻 Also thanks for the heads up about RADALT, I’ll have a look for that next time I start up the AH-64
@@TorniQuetHD Oh, I was actually thinking of your button mapping.. (I actually am using your Hornet axes for my stick and throttle and it works beautifully...except the rudder my TFRPs are so twitchy) .. like what you have mapped to DMS, TMS, throttle boat switch, China hat, etc? BTW your comment about it being like flying the Hornet at on-speed has really made flying (and trimming) really click!
Make sure you are on 250 as well. General comms on rotorheads are 250 for traffic / UH and 30 for AH. Call rifles on 30 as a common courtesy so people aren't unnecessarily evading / wasting countermeasures. Normally SRS is a lot more active than you saw.
Yeah it was a quiet day on SRS that day. Very good point on courtesy rifle calls over SRS comms… can be very annoying to others when your missile launch receiver is going off its tits every 5 seconds from friendly Apache hellfire launches.
@@TorniQuetHD Yeah it's awesome. Great for grabbing coords to plug into GPS when you are doing things on servers like Hoggit where you may not have stuff pre-planned in a mission file. Also how did you get your helo keyboard setup? Did you use target or simply set a modifier in game.
For alignment for your IHADDS do you change your seat position or how? I always find I have to adjust this location in order to align correctly as every time I start in the Apache I am located too high for the alignment. I hope there is an easier way :)
Thanks for the walk through, just wondering does activating the Doppler radar backup make you more easily detectable in DCS? Also, wish there was a good solution to the KU in VR, real pain to enter in points with the mouse! cheers!
I don’t think the Doppler radar makes you more detectable but I’m not an expert on that one. The FCR is prob another story when it comes online soon. Can’t help you on the VR front sorry mate, I agree that would be hard to do

Glad it helped you out mate. When I get a better understanding of it all i will do a series on it for sure
One of the most thorough and well spoken guys on DCS TH-cam. Thanks for the Apache stuff, hope to see more.
Cheers mate, I’m still learning this beast but absolute loving it so far!!
Just stumbled on this and I thank you for it. You explained very well how to actually get combat ready in the apache! Cheers!
I’m a Air Force student pilot and something pretty cool we learnt about in the ASP was that Australia is getting apaches in 2027 which is pretty cool
Took lots of notes, great video. Subbed.
Thanks mate! Glad it helped you out

This tutorial leaves the others on TH-cam in shame. Excellent work. Subbed and Bell on!
Cheers mate!! Glad it helped you out
Scratchpad has the ability to copy co-ords now. If you havent updated it yet, you should. It is a very handy tool.

I tell you what mate you're fartin sparks in the Apache! Will look up rotorheads!
Nice video mate

Now I understand why I keep being lased by friendly apaches on multiplayer when I fly the ka50. Damn George think I'm a target!
Yeah he is god tier at spotting targets atm haha

I've not seen that notepad tool you used for copying the coordinates down from the map. Is that something built into DCS or a 3rd party tool?
I'm also curious about this
It's DCS Scratchpad, if you look up his recent epic length video on mission making, he goes into DCS Scratchpad about 10 minutes into it.
Link to it is in the description my man 👌🏻 it’s a game changer for sure
Hey Torni you know the updated Scratchpad mod has the ability to pull coordinates right? Makes setting targets and waypoints so much easier.
Just updated it today, that is super handy that they have done that 👌🏻

woooow
If you don’t have this thing yet I highly recommend the Apache mate

I just move my head with trackIR to get the rings lined up and it’s all good after that

Is the "Constent to Fire" button the right one to designate the target? Or is that a different button?
I’m not 💯 on that one mate, I haven’t flown the Apache in a hot minute… I think consent to fire tells George to fire the weapon from memory
WAZZUUUUP my gun :D
How fun is that gun!!! Almost as good as the A-10 GAU-8… ALMOST
@@TorniQuetHD Indeed! 🤠
Have you tried Apache hunting ground yet. Holy shit. 130 missions with 700 lines of dialog. Everything from assisting seal teams to convoy hunting.
I have downloaded it but haven’t flown it as of yet. Will have a crack this weekend and see if I can get any good sortie footage out of it
How do you bring up that little notepad?
Link is in the description mate 👌🏻 DCS scratchpad 👌🏻👌🏻 game changer
"I" for Indigo...
brah you made this look too easy lol
G'day. Fellow Apache pilot from Brisbane. If you're looking for a CP/G to fly with, give me a shout
Yeeeeew! Good to hear a fellow QLD’er in DCS! Jump in my discord mate and if we’re both on at the same time let’s do it for sure
