      That’s all truth, how to dog yourself out of a self made home is hard fought knowledge and if you can find that from someone else’s mistakes - might be just the ticket to get you out of a bind later

    In my mind the mark of a great carpenter isn't being able to do everything perfectly, it's being able to adapt to things not being perfect, and once again you've proven to us exactly what that means. Fantastic work!

    Ben, I neither make or play the guitar, as a child I took lessons, but that is it. I watch and subscribe to your channel because you are wealth of information for me. I do build things to support my photographic work. In the past, I would have trashed miss-cuts and other problems. You have shown me how to look at the problem and come up with a solution. Thank you so much for your talents.

    If you stoned enough and hanging around with a guitar at home, you just can start staring on it. Once I found an autograph of Vladimir Holstinin from russian metal band ARIA on the top of my second-hand BCR Warlock - not completely washed away permanent marker. I think I could find this repair too. Eventually..

    maybe do a matte finish on the headstock to hide the flame, clear but less glossy. kind of counter intuitive but it might hide the flame. maybe a gloss truss rod cover to accent. love the builds keep up the great work ben

  • @coderebel3568
    @coderebel3568 ปีที่แล้ว

    I didn't think about the flame matching up, but I did think the colour of the new piece might show where the joint is. But that was before you said it was a bookmatched piece. Beautiful repair! I think I would have just dug out the whole inlay and redo the whole thing, but this works too of course. I was a little surprised you didn't use a clamping coul/call/kal/coule/cal/couelle (plx forgive my spelling, not a native here 😅)

    Is the line visible? Yes it is. But, you would have to be looking VERY closely to see it and have your face a few inches away. Guaranteed from 3 or 4 feet away nobody would ever see that. Even a foot away it's almost impossible to see it. Amazing fix Ben.

    I reground 2 sets of the basic Marples (now Irwin) chisels to skews so I can get into corners like that headstock cavity. One set angled each direction / | and |\ Those babies come in so handy in so many situations.
    I was originally planning on getting another set to grind to curved edges as well, but that was right when they changed over to the new Irwin design that does not match.... 😒 First world problems, huh? 🤣

    its been hard to see smaller details like flame and grains since the change to the new studio. That close up lighting is brutal and everything specially lighter things is so washed out all the time. I didn't even notice any color in the piece you took out of the off cut until the last scene where it was not in the direct lighting. Even your face is over exposed it seems. Are they using HDR settings in the cameras or in editing? That would explain the changes as I see those same characteristics in video games with improper settings for HDR.
