I always wanted a tele but never found one I connected with. I saw a Chicago Music Exchange video on a custom Squire CV in oxblood with gold hardware. I loved the looks and based on price of $500 I bought. Great guitar. The one I got did have sharp fret ends so I spent another 100$ to get fixed with overall set up locally. I can say, I am playing this more than many other guitars in my collection that are far more expensive. Pick ups nice and I am amazed all the different sounds and styles of music I can get out this Squire Tele.
I have a Squire CV FSR custom double bound purple sparkle baritone telecaster...and the main thing I'm not a fan of is the neck. Much prefer satin finishes ..yeah I know I could sand the neck but thats a major job cause the polyurethane is extremely thick ! I also have a beautiful Sire T7TV thin line tele...which came with staggered locking tuners, compensated brass saddles, bone nut and Sires standard rolled fret edges. Telecasters are truly a very versatile, and a great all ' round guitar for any genre of music ! Thanks for this demo...😊
Maybe that's my issue with them...they never sound how I envision them to. Then again...I play heavier stuff, so maybe it's an unachievable thing I'm looking for.
@@Electric.Flamingo Many a Modern Metal guy who tunes very low will try dialing in a tight, mid-forward sound with minimal saturation and do all these EQ tricks before, after, and on the amp, with extreme settings on boost / overdrive pedals in front, tight noise gate, and low pass in post! I have seen this in a shit ton of videos here on TH-cam when discussing how to dial in that Djent / Progressive Metal / Modern Metal sound! My point? Is that you can achieve a near-identical tone from just using a guitar with single coils to begin with! Single coils already have that kind of EQ curve baked in to their overall sound! There are videos out there of Rock guys talking about how their Strat or Tele sounds better tuned down! Yes, you will have to deal with a bit of noise if using true single coils as you said, but this method is actually a well-known studio trick for layering and multi-tracking when it comes to Metal! My suggestion, is try tuning your Tele down to Standard C#/Db (the lowest a Guitar can be down-tuned and still sound like a regular Guitar when playing normal Rock stuff; exception for Standard B) and Drop B, and see what kind of heavy tones you can achieve! Good luck, and keep on Rocking! \m/
The Tele neck pickup isn't a lipstick pickup. Danelectro made the lipstick pickup and this type of pickup has been copied by many makers but it's constriction is different as it uses a bar magnet. A Tele neck pickup has pole pieces and is basically a mini single coil like other Fender pickups in spite of it looking somewhat like a lipstick pickup.
@@Electric.FlamingoYeah, there are just so many details about guitars and guitar gear that it's easy to miss things sometimes but being a gearhead is cool and it's fun to share the details of stuff. There's so much more information available online then there was back in the day. It used to be a struggle to find people who really knew what was going on to help you out and books on these types of subjects weren't very easy to find if they even existed. Now being able to collectively piece things together everyone benefits.
Playing all my life...62 now....classic R&R mostly....with some progressive like Rush....never bonded with single coils...until my kids introduced me to John Mayer and I got interested in blues/Jazz. Got 'converted' 2 years ago....addicted... now own 10 Teles.....a few Strats...but Tele's RULE.
i love these things. i can't stop modding mine. hipshot stuff and a dimarzio chopper t in the bridge and a twisted tele in the neck. haven't touched my spendier guitars lately..
Mine is awesome. It is very well made and stays in tune well. I might change to brass saddles and vintage style locking tuners. Other than that, it's great just the way it is.
Turning volume all the way down isn’t exactly what anyone means by “rolling volume off”. I think thats a given that there is no sound when turned all the way down
Out of the box , the CVs are really playable. I have the same custom CV 60s and I just changed the saddles to compensated bronze/brass and I was surprised how the tone elevated. You upgrading it to vintage locking tuners motivates me to do the same.

I hated teles for 25 years, till I tried one thru a twin reverb. Now I’m a “tele guy” too

Never knew that. I just figured if it had that cover, it was a lipstick. I love actual informative comments like this!

I've found my tele in the Solstice Tellurion. I just did a video on that and it's AMAZING.
@@Electric.Flamingo Nice color...can't go wrong with Lollars...best Tele pups to me.

They make great mod platforms!
I need to snag me a bro tank for the summer time.
I keep tanks around to go with these guns. 💪

Yeah, generally speaking, the Classic Vibes are fantastic right out of the box!

Well, if I didn't show that, someone else in the comments would have said I missed that part. Sorry for being thorough, I guess.
I just meant rolling off volume should be demoed to show it cleaning up or how the tone changes. I think thats would be more thorough.

You absolutely should. Use that link in the description and my code for some money off if you do. 😉⚡️🦩
I had one but not again
Any particular reason? Just curious.
