Thank you I just set a recurring 6-month reminder on my calendar to request an increase! I had this card for 2 years and I never asked for an increase. I requested an increase today and received an extra $1,500K
Great show! Great advice!
Great video. I plan on applying for the Citi Custom Cash in a few months. This info will really help when I'm ready for a credit limit increases.
Thank you! I'm happy you got value from it.
Just got approved for this card with a 18k credit limit, you always give good info appreciate you fam
Nice!! 🤑
Damnn thats nice
Thanks for the tips! Just increased my limit by $2000 in seconds.
You're very welcome Ron. Congrats on the increase!
Was just approved for this card with a $9k limit. This is my first citi card ever! Great video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Do you have a checking/savings account with citi or any other products?
Best card ever! Been having it for about one year now. You DONT NEED a Citi account. Just good credit.
How much money do you make a year to get a limit that high?
I did it and got a $1500 increase. I am happy because I haven’t use the card much
Great vid & advice 4 those who don't about how credit increases wrk...
Thank you for tuning in!
I have had the Citi Custom card for 84 days and had 2 statements when I increased my limit. Had a $9.2k limit to start, and was at 32% utilization as of the second statement. They did not ask how much I wanted. They increase my limit $4k, exactly the same increase I received on my other Citi card I have had a long time when i asked for an increase 3 months before.
Was it a hard pull? Thanks
No, it was a soft pull for the CLI.
Could you do a comparison of which Citi credit card is best or best setup? Such as the Citi Custom Cash, Double Cash, Premier and Rewards+. Any input would be appreciated.
Awesome Vid.
Thank you! glad you enjoyed it.
Just got approved for 7k. I have chase with higher limits but it’s better then nothing at all. Hopefully I can get a CLI in 90 days. 👍🏻
Was just aproved today the lady that helped me was very helpful first time without my mom
Looks like I need to wait
Thanks for the information! I just got this card a few days ago with a 4.7k limit. My other citi card has 14k on it. Trying to increase the 4.7k limit, but I've always been the kind of person to never ask for an increase
What is the max credit on the Citi Double Cash,Rewards and Simplicity cards
I’ve said it before but these videos are absolutely phenomenal!!! would you be able to do the Chase Flex card next???
Ty, thank you so much! I will add the Chase Freedom Flex card to the list.
I have my Cit custom card now which I upgraded from citi simplicity recently. I had it for about 2 or 3 years. During that time they increased my limit only once from 500 to 1350. My question is I applied for 2 cards in the past couple of months successfully. But I also have inquiries for mortgage refinance in the past year. Do those count , too?
Informative video
Thanks!
I have had the citi thank you preferred card for 15 years and they have NEVER given me a credit limit increase! I request every 6 mo. I always get denied and I do not know why. Do these tips apply to the thank you preferred card?
This BANK is BS.. I just applied for one of their credit cards, my fico score is 741, only 4 hard inquiries throughout 2 years, the most recent one was in june of 2022 so 1 year ago almost, credit utilization is 13% in only 1 card, I have 10 different credit cards with different banks and they denied me because I have " too many recent inquiries on my credit history and I lack of revolving credit cards under my name Lol, Don't even try the reconsideration because they will tell you " there is nothing we can do because the denial was based on your credit file " Just be on the look out if applying for one of their credit cards, This guys are hard to get approved with.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY DO A HARD OR SOFT PULL ONCE THEY OFFER YOU AN INCREASE?
I’ve been with Citi for almost two years. Started with $500 and they automatically increased me to $2500 a while after I had the card. I’m now going to ask for an increase. I’ll update later.
UPDATE: They only gave me an increase of $1,000 smh and I didn’t have an option to input the amount I wanted to increase to.
I just applied and was approved for $9,400.
@@dannypoop11
What was your stated income and rent or mortgage?
When you say 3 hard inquiries do you mean you’re Equifax credit report?
I'd like to apply in 2022, 4 yrs credit age, 8 inquiries Experian should drop end of 2022... any chance to get approved ? should wait ?
Just applied for this card was only approved for a $500 limit. This is my first Citi card and would only run it for the gym or gas. But what doesn’t make sense for me is I only have 2 hard inquiry’s for the past 1 year , and also I’m at a 789 Experian so very shocked on the low limit when my other cards are much better.
That was me with capital one savor one $500 starting limit. My other cards have bigger limits like custom cash and double cash at $1700 each.
After six months of having the double cash i logged into the app to pay my monthly balance and a message popped up asking if i would like to request a credit limit increase
I payed my balance and made sure it posted, requested an increase in the menu, and got a 50% increase from $1800-2700
I don’t know man…. I got a credit increase from citi just after two months and I only used the card twice for 2 $10 charges once a month. Then I applied for 2 Amex cards last month, and one discover card 3 days ago, got approved for them all. Then I just got approved for this citi cash card for $7,600 credit limit and a $200 welcome bonus after 700 spent in 3 months. 0 APR for 15 months and 14% APR after. I had 5 inquiry’s on one and 2 inquiries on the other. That’s my experience 👍🏽
Congrats on the approvals. Thank you for sharing your data points.
@@calbarton thank you 🙏🏽
Lol I have to wait 3 years to get under 3 inquires that’s just wishful thinking and I don’t think that it’s reasonable or fair to expect people to have 3 or less inquires on their credit report (I am not directing this to you but to the credit card companies). I think 6-8 should be the more reasonable number, but I guess I have to learn the hard way!
Great video! Can you split mortgage payment with spouse?
Thank you Donnell! I'm not sure what you mean, can you give me some more details?
So I have a question. Which bureau do they pull from initially for this particular card?
Citi uses Experian for initially getting approved for the card.
@@calbarton thanks for the reply. Is it fico 8 or 9?
Hello. Quick question: if I ask citi to increase my limit after the first 3 months, what would be an appropriate amount to ask for? Would 2-3 times the current limit be appropriate or can it be more than that?
The last time I checked I didn't see an option to request a specific amount. But If I had to enter an amount and my current limit was $1k then I'd ask for $5k. If my limit was anything over $5k I'd ask for a $3k increase.
@@calbarton thank you
Making sure I heard correct. 5% back once a month one one category that you pick ?
Yes Albert, Automatically!
They have 6 common categories. Restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, drug stores, home improvement, fitness clubs, etc. They automatically give you 5% up to $500 spend per cycle = $25 back in your highest category.
Does the 90 days rule then every 6 months after apply to other citi cards such as double cash?
BUT the more credit line you have overall the better for your scores and usage ratios, he says. For example, if you have $50K in credit lines all credit cards together total, better to have higher $53K all together total.
Hopefully this isn't a dumb question, I'm not an expert, but if I'm able to get an increase, from $500 to $1000, would I still get 5% cash back up to $1000? Thanks in advance, appreciate it.
Hey Ryan! You can only get 5% back for the first $500 you spend in a given month. After that the rate goes down to 1% no matter your credit limit.
Just got approve for 5k
Congrats! That's a decent limit too.
Does Citibank care about the credit limits of your other Citi or non-Citi cards? Let's say I have a $20,000 card with another bank, will that help to get me a $10,000+ card with Custom Cash?
More from my understanding

Update:
I did and do have a $20K card with Synchrony Venmo.
Citi gave me a $5K card, and denied me 2 credit limit increase requests over the last 5 months. I've been spending over $400 every month and paying off in full.
I basically bended the truth to get a higher credit limit than I probably should have gotten. As a result my credit limit each month is about as high as 1/3 of my annual earnings XD. It’s fine though because I treat my cards like cash and always pay off the current balance at least once every month. My utilization is super low.
I just applied for this card and got approved for 9 k
That's great Jose! Congrats and that's a nice starting limit. what category will you use it for?
@@calbartonthanks 🙏🏼 for gas
AWESOME Info brother 👍
I have a FIRST PREMIER CREDIT CARD and I hate it because they have a huge annual fee with no perks at all: Should I cancel it?
Thank you JV! It could impact your credit utilization rate and average age of credit history but because of the high annual fee, you should cancel it.
How old is it?
Why not downgrade it to the Double cash or custom cash?
DO NOT cancel it!
You'll lose your credit history from it.
Your credit score will take a permanent hit.
Product change it to another one of their cards.
Since the 5% cash back is limited to the first $500, I won't need a credit limit higher than that.
BUT the more credit line you have overall the better for your scores and usage ratios, he says. For example, if you have $50K in credit lines all credit cards together total, better to have higher $53K all together total.
@@emc6511True, but I already have other cards with higher limits, so it wouldn't be a big deal if this one was lower. My limit on this card is fairly low, but not $500.
90 days after date of being approved for the card for first CLI?
I tried for CLI yesterday but was denied. Says my score too low. Is 685 according to their denial letter. Score is higher now since a few positives reported since that score showed. Is now 701 on my updated score. Had a card report high utilization, so I will wait till it reports again and see where it is. Can I keep applying and getting denied every month till I get the increase, or do I need to wait 6 months from initially applying for increase?
I got approved for $1,000 CLI today.
Hi. Is it normal to get a credit score decrease of 12 points after being approved for a credit card? Also, how do I get a free copy of my credit report? Thanks for all the great content. I absolutely love your channel!!
Man that seems like a lot for just one approval. Amex only knocked me 1 point, and I usually get 3-5 points knocked every approval. 12 points just seems like a lot. I have a 758 credit score
Beware of Chase credit cards. It was a Chase card I applied for and I later found out that they do a double hard inquiry/pull for their cards. I called them and they told me themselves
@@elbori4365 I heard that when you apply for Chase, only unlock Experian and freeze the others so they can’t pull from more than one.
@@lebisque9194 Thank you, gorgeous 😍
