    I have had the Citi Custom card for 84 days and had 2 statements when I increased my limit. Had a $9.2k limit to start, and was at 32% utilization as of the second statement. They did not ask how much I wanted. They increase my limit $4k, exactly the same increase I received on my other Citi card I have had a long time when i asked for an increase 3 months before.

    Just got approved for 7k. I have chase with higher limits but it’s better then nothing at all. Hopefully I can get a CLI in 90 days. 👍🏻

    Thanks for the information! I just got this card a few days ago with a 4.7k limit. My other citi card has 14k on it. Trying to increase the 4.7k limit, but I've always been the kind of person to never ask for an increase

    I have my Cit custom card now which I upgraded from citi simplicity recently. I had it for about 2 or 3 years. During that time they increased my limit only once from 500 to 1350. My question is I applied for 2 cards in the past couple of months successfully. But I also have inquiries for mortgage refinance in the past year. Do those count , too?

    I have had the citi thank you preferred card for 15 years and they have NEVER given me a credit limit increase! I request every 6 mo. I always get denied and I do not know why. Do these tips apply to the thank you preferred card?

    This BANK is BS.. I just applied for one of their credit cards, my fico score is 741, only 4 hard inquiries throughout 2 years, the most recent one was in june of 2022 so 1 year ago almost, credit utilization is 13% in only 1 card, I have 10 different credit cards with different banks and they denied me because I have " too many recent inquiries on my credit history and I lack of revolving credit cards under my name Lol, Don't even try the reconsideration because they will tell you " there is nothing we can do because the denial was based on your credit file " Just be on the look out if applying for one of their credit cards, This guys are hard to get approved with.

    I’ve been with Citi for almost two years. Started with $500 and they automatically increased me to $2500 a while after I had the card. I’m now going to ask for an increase. I’ll update later.
    UPDATE: They only gave me an increase of $1,000 smh and I didn’t have an option to input the amount I wanted to increase to.

    Just applied for this card was only approved for a $500 limit. This is my first Citi card and would only run it for the gym or gas. But what doesn’t make sense for me is I only have 2 hard inquiry’s for the past 1 year , and also I’m at a 789 Experian so very shocked on the low limit when my other cards are much better.

      That was me with capital one savor one $500 starting limit. My other cards have bigger limits like custom cash and double cash at $1700 each.

    After six months of having the double cash i logged into the app to pay my monthly balance and a message popped up asking if i would like to request a credit limit increase
    I payed my balance and made sure it posted, requested an increase in the menu, and got a 50% increase from $1800-2700

    I don’t know man…. I got a credit increase from citi just after two months and I only used the card twice for 2 $10 charges once a month. Then I applied for 2 Amex cards last month, and one discover card 3 days ago, got approved for them all. Then I just got approved for this citi cash card for $7,600 credit limit and a $200 welcome bonus after 700 spent in 3 months. 0 APR for 15 months and 14% APR after. I had 5 inquiry’s on one and 2 inquiries on the other. That’s my experience 👍🏽

    Lol I have to wait 3 years to get under 3 inquires that’s just wishful thinking and I don’t think that it’s reasonable or fair to expect people to have 3 or less inquires on their credit report (I am not directing this to you but to the credit card companies). I think 6-8 should be the more reasonable number, but I guess I have to learn the hard way!

    Hello. Quick question: if I ask citi to increase my limit after the first 3 months, what would be an appropriate amount to ask for? Would 2-3 times the current limit be appropriate or can it be more than that?

      The last time I checked I didn't see an option to request a specific amount. But If I had to enter an amount and my current limit was $1k then I'd ask for $5k. If my limit was anything over $5k I'd ask for a $3k increase.

      They have 6 common categories. Restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, drug stores, home improvement, fitness clubs, etc. They automatically give you 5% up to $500 spend per cycle = $25 back in your highest category.

      BUT the more credit line you have overall the better for your scores and usage ratios, he says. For example, if you have $50K in credit lines all credit cards together total, better to have higher $53K all together total.

      Hey Ryan! You can only get 5% back for the first $500 you spend in a given month. After that the rate goes down to 1% no matter your credit limit.

      I did and do have a $20K card with Synchrony Venmo.
      Citi gave me a $5K card, and denied me 2 credit limit increase requests over the last 5 months. I've been spending over $400 every month and paying off in full.

    I basically bended the truth to get a higher credit limit than I probably should have gotten. As a result my credit limit each month is about as high as 1/3 of my annual earnings XD. It’s fine though because I treat my cards like cash and always pay off the current balance at least once every month. My utilization is super low.

      DO NOT cancel it!
      You'll lose your credit history from it.
      Your credit score will take a permanent hit.
      Product change it to another one of their cards.

      I tried for CLI yesterday but was denied. Says my score too low. Is 685 according to their denial letter. Score is higher now since a few positives reported since that score showed. Is now 701 on my updated score. Had a card report high utilization, so I will wait till it reports again and see where it is. Can I keep applying and getting denied every month till I get the increase, or do I need to wait 6 months from initially applying for increase?

      Man that seems like a lot for just one approval. Amex only knocked me 1 point, and I usually get 3-5 points knocked every approval. 12 points just seems like a lot. I have a 758 credit score

      Beware of Chase credit cards. It was a Chase card I applied for and I later found out that they do a double hard inquiry/pull for their cards. I called them and they told me themselves
