Agreed. There are many things that building something teaches you. One, is respect for the creative process, the second is an understanding of the processes needed for something to happen. The industrial arts should be required for any math/engineering student, as they are the root from which all things come.
This guy Max Hazan is one hell off a artist .. I mean what a imaginary man .. just simply the best of the best .. love his work .. totally amazing .. totally different..I love his workshop as well .. can’t find many videos about his work .. God bless you Buddy .. long live MAX HAZAN 🙏🙏
His simple cafe racers look amazing. Wouldn't drive some of the more experimental ones, myself, but I appreciate the time and craftsmanship it took to make them.
Never seen this guys work before. He makes the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen. I can see these bikes becoming super collectible someday. Works of art man.
Very happy to see this series back and this episode was great to watch. But…the guy Max even said near the end that the bike was half done and it felt like the episode itself was only half done. Please show more of what excellent craft really is! Thanks
One million+ views! Great buzz and show, one of the best. The chemistry between these two is amazing, especially the part when Hazan snaps on an examining glove and asks, "Ready?" to which Bourdain replies, "I don't like how you said that!" Pretty funny, great timing. Now, let's book Hazan on Jay Leno's show and get Jonathan Ward involved, too. Then crowdsource a CNC mill for Max!
When you use the word artist to describe someone, one must also think on the complex workings of that persons brain. Raw Craft was another work of art for Anthony Bourdain showing how others put forth their artistic efforts in amazing ways. So connected are they to the craft they master, they also often have inner demons that fester as depression in some. When they are so gifted and talented one can struggle understanding how or why depression ever takes hold. Max's dad told him to pursue his passion and he did. His talent and artistic ability is unique in every motorcycle he builds. Raw Craft gives a peek into the person and the craft and also shares the genius of Bourdain.
MAX you should be very proud of a few things mate. The fact that you found your small measure of peace is a serious life achievement to start with then the joy of you creating this kinetic art. Well done mate, seriously talented.
It is both amazing and completely sucks watching anything to do with AB, knowing we will never see anything new but still being able to go back and watch everything he ever made, RIP.
This is pretty cool. If Bourdain can tolerate a quieter variety of 'bike', youse guys should go talk to Steve Potts in northern CA. He was one of the original gang that created the modern mountain bike, along with Ritchey, Cunningham, Breeze, and so on. He's still building some of the best bikes in the business, builds his own tools, taught his kids how to do it, and is super nice. Oh, and his titanium welding is world-class. His bikes are more carefully engineered, too. :)
So last week, I saw my uncle for Thanksgiving. He asked if I heard of Max. I said no, what about him? He said he was famous for his motorcycles and was married to the daughter of a friend of his. I said, Hmm, ok. He showed a video on youtube. I thought, That's nice, but anyone can have videos on youtube. Then he clicked on THIS video. I've been a big Bourdain fan since his first series. I saw it and thought, Holy shit, he's doing this series with Tony, riding his bikes!!!
dang. Didn't think i would like an episode about motorcycles but then i was kind of sad they didnt fully complete it. Those things were sweet sexy works of art.
I wish the titles wold say what the video is about. Thankfully I clicked and got this one but to hard to know if it is what you might be interested in watching
Funny that he tries to shape this working man image, but his parents are billionaires.. dude grew up in the biggest house in one of the richest neighborhoods in the us
Incredible. What I don’t understand though, is how you’d get insurance to ride it. Where I live, the government would probably try and shut it down to make sure it’s road worthy, and the insurance company wouldn’t want to offer insurance before they figure out liabilities etc.
American safety standards are shockingly lax, contrary to the way car manufacturers advertise safety so much. You're allowed to drive cars with parts rusted out and cars so old they didn't have crash tests so I think the answer may just be that the government doesn't care. Insurance companies will just charge you higher premiums.
Dude you know how much R&D there is to fabricate a whole engine in your shed? Engine-building is a whole different matter compares to metalworks. Hazan's works are of gas tanks, forks and frames building, not the engine itself. If you want to see his true potential please search for his Royal Enfield V-twin 'The Musket' and his BSA 500, both have won pretty big awards.
It's really a great example of modern lifestyle marketing... Think of the Marlboro man. Basically this is a whole series about different kinds of Balvenie's own Marlboro men.
so this dude has a workhop in his lounge or a lounge in his workshop with curtains and greenery and is a human cnc coz he mills metal by hand for 17hrs. i find that a tad poseur-ish and a bit over the top. thanks anyway
I love this series. I would love for y'all to visit Jesse James for his firearms company. He's making pistols out of Damascus steel that he makes himself.
AB was so slim, and by all accounts drank ALOT. alcohol is something like the most calorific edible source. Yes, he did jijitsu everyday, but is jiujitsu an aerobic sport. Just wondering how he maintained that amazing figure. RIP
Taught industrial arts, tech ed,shop class, this guy gets a A+ for inspiration ... and beautiful craftsmanship... old school ethics
Jersey Johnnie except logic...that guy gets f...bike with no suspension will abuse your butt in matter of minutes
found the hater

I love this series. As a carpenter and a writer, this makes me happy. Please keep making more!
Anthony Bourdains writing style and analogies are the coolest!
Up until now, next to episode two, this is my favourite episode. More than motorcycles, works of art.
This guy Max Hazan is one hell off a artist .. I mean what a imaginary man .. just simply the best of the best .. love his work .. totally amazing .. totally different..I love his workshop as well .. can’t find many videos about his work .. God bless you Buddy .. long live MAX HAZAN 🙏🙏
i’m happy for this bloke who found something that he loves and now makes a living from it, good on him, those bikes look dope
Forever in our hearts and our souls, in our ears and our eyes. In our minds your voice translates. Thank you, Anthony
Beautiful craftsmanship. Miss you Anthony.
Currently watching this video for my English class at a trade school
Cool video! Love the way Anthony presents in such a natural manner.
His simple cafe racers look amazing. Wouldn't drive some of the more experimental ones, myself, but I appreciate the time and craftsmanship it took to make them.
Half_Centaur if I understood correctly he’s supercharging them? Can you imagine how terrifying that would be on a bike like that?
Never seen this guys work before. He makes the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen. I can see these bikes becoming super collectible someday. Works of art man.

Finally a video that isn't 1 minute long or a promo

This is art and craftsmanship on a high level :) Beautiful bikes :)

Amazing Bikes, wish I could find my niche like this guy did!!
Beautiful workmanship!
Just as it starts getting more interesting it's over. Needs more sense of completion. This feels like 1/2 an episode.
BIG 👍🏻’s for your attitude/ethics...going far son!
Really good stuff. Keep this up
Max's style is very cool, it's clear there's natural talent here

2 completely different terms/products!
Max is a classic MAN.
Jeez, this is a dope series, interesting Anthony got away from a foody show for the last series he did.
So last week, I saw my uncle for Thanksgiving. He asked if I heard of Max. I said no, what about him? He said he was famous for his motorcycles and was married to the daughter of a friend of his. Love a good cafe bike
Episode 13 should be at The Brass Rooster, Hand Made Hats. We are ready to host you anytime. Cheers.

Yeah was just wondering the same thing. How does he ensure the structural integrity of the bike?
American safety standards are shockingly lax, contrary to the way car manufacturers advertise safety so much.

RIP Anthony Bourdain

The dude was a style icon
What taco shop serves bottles of whiskey?
Miss that Balvenie 10 year boyeeee!

A product placement for that liquor. Its quite obvious how could you drink that at home and also pour at the restaurant. Hmm something to think about.
