Tobey is one of four residence halls built on the same plan. The others are Wilber, Littell, and Golding. I lived in Golding my first two years at SUNY Oneonta, 1965-67. These four halls have been beautifully remodeled in recent years, adding many amenities that didn't exist while I was there.

I lived in the pit on the west end in room 51. I met lots of great people! Freshman year ended early but it’s for the best.

Unfortunately, i did not know about SUNY Oneonta when i was in high school at the time, and to be honest, i wish i did. Had i'd known about SUNY Oneonta back in high school, SUNY Oneonta would've been my first choice and SUNY Oneonta would've been my dream school. A lot of people don't know this, but i got accepted to another SUNY college/school that wasn't my first choice at all. Unlike the the SUNY college/school i went to, SUNY Oneonta has a wider selection of Bachelor's Degree programs to choose from. If i did get accepted to SUNY Oneonta, i would've doubled majored in Media Studies (formerly known as Mass Communications) and Music Industry, therefore, i would've graduated with 2 Bachelor's Degrees. The only reason why i have 1 Bachelor's Degree is because the SUNY college/school i went to did not have a wider selection of programs that made me want to do a double major in order to graduate with 2 Bachelor's Degrees instead of 1. I know that not every high school graduate gets accepted to their dream school that's their first choice, but those who do get accepted to their first choice/dream school are beyond fortunate.
