  • October 2014 we purchased a LS Tractor. When I attempted to bush hog for the first time in the Spring of 2015, a problem came to light. The throttle lever stops working. It has been almost 5 years and the problem is still not fixed.
    The problem happens at 14:45 on the video and again at 19:05.

    at 19:28 you can clearly see your engine is over heating thats why it wont let you keep beating on it. you need to clean out your radiator screen and check your coolant level.

      When it happened the first time the needle was in the middle of the temp. range. When it happened the second time it was at the high end of the temp. range but it wasn't in the red.
      Either way, I solved the problem. I traded it in on a Massey Ferguson.

      The temp. gauge on the dash says the temp. is in the normal range. Nobody has been able to figure out what is causing it. It's in the shop now and they're saying it, "may need" an ECU and/or a wiring harness. Of course, with it being 4 1/2 years old, LS is not going to step up and pay for it. My problem is, if I spend the money (a lot of money) for a new ECU and wiring harness and it doesn't fix the problem, I'm just out that money and I'm still in the same boat.

      Yea but what about the sensor the ecu uses.
      They could possibly be different.
      If they are.
      You may be able to either replace that sensor.
      Or find the resistance the ecu should be seeing
      and bodge the circuit thereby tricking the ecu ?

    I've had good luck with my 4140. We have a small 400 acre farm. I do all the bush hogging with it. Rake hay with it and for fun used a 12' disk on my couple acres food plots. Plus I'm dragging logs every weekend for my wood business. So farm it's been a hell of a tractor

  • @Lupusharv
    @Lupusharv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Man I feel for you, my dash throttle went bad $400 along with multiple other things. To trouble shoot mine the regional rep had me see if the tractor would still throttle up using the electronic throttle control next to the seat and it worked, kinda like you using the foot pedal. He sent me the new dash control and I installed it.
    You are right about not getting squat on trade in for theses tractors, I even tried New Holland and they didn't want the LS branded model even though it's basically what they sell.

      @@luckybfarms2707 my States lemon law doesn't cover tractors, but yours might. No one wants to give you anything on trade for LS so it appears we are stuck. Heck all the nuts holding my hood latch on fell off and the last tab holding the hood broke off the hood and that was less than 10 hours sense the parking brake cable snapped.

    Did you ever manage to get this fixed? If not...have you considering just checking with another brand dealer and see what they'll do on a trade in for another brand? You may take a bit of a hit depending on how much you owe, but at least you'd get a machine that's going to work for you and be one less thing to worry about/mess with when you have work to do :)

    • @luckybfarms2707
      @luckybfarms2707  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was told it needed either a ECU or a wiring harness. LS would not cover the parts or labor since it was so far out of warranty. I got tired of arguing with them about it. It was going to cost about $3000 to have a ECU and wiring harness installed so I traded it in on a Massey Ferguson.

    Just purchased LS tractor #2 had this throttle issue with first one but it's a simple issue the throttle cable stretches and slips from the fitting. Owned it 10 years this was the only problem. Was a great little workhorse and I miss it after doubling size and hp on new one. No complaints.

  • @stanjuan1178
    @stanjuan1178 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Ok, I'm going to comment. I apologize if someone else has already said it but I dont read comments.
    Your tractor has a sensor that is tripping it into limp mode. Your peddle works because your supposed to limp back to the barn. It to stops working when the sensors have had enough. That functionality is at least working as intended. The question is first, what sensor is tripping out. I suspect that both dealers know exactly what sensor is throwing the signal. The next part is ascertaining why. Now here is the sticky part.
    LS doesn't have the market penetration that kubota and deer and other top tier companies have. In order to get established, LS tends to give out dealerships to any ass hat with the right amount of capital. MANY are unable to properly work on the tractor's. Any jack wagon can tighten a clamp or replace a sensor. But knowing how to diagnose an issue is beyond their capabilities. Many dealers dont have the equipment to properly diagnose the problem. They keep changing parts and possibly resetting computers which is why the tractor works for a bit. But they aren't fixing the actual problem. It's really up to corporate to see that your tractor is fixed. Your dealer probably cant fix the issue because they dont know how. If you cant get corporate to help you through this, you are fucked. God wont help you here. My suggestion is to be super friendly with corporate and work them to find a resolution. The good news is, theres probably nothing seriously wrong with your tractor. I'd bet the farm there is some minor unimportant issue that's at the root. It's simply a matter of finding the loose wire so to speak. But you need someone who can actually diagnose the problem. Your fist dealer is clearly not a tractor mechanic. And unfortunately that's the case with a majority of LS dealers. It's a crying shame to because on the whole the tractor's are pretty good.LS corporate is destroying their brand by not standing behind their products. This shit with the dealers has been going on for years. Corporate knows exactly what's going on. The dealers are trash, but corporate is fully to blame. They created the mess. But if you're going to find relief, your gonna have to work corporate with kid gloves.

    • @luckybfarms2707
      @luckybfarms2707  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree but after a while you get tired of "fixing" something every time you need to use it. Corporate had records of the problem from the outset but they would not cover the parts and labor to replace the ECU and wiring harness (which was the latest "fix" that was suggested).
      I solved the problem and traded it in.

    Follow your throttle cable back through the tractor, at some point between the lever and the engine there is some kind of electrical switch that’s not making a good connection or it is cheap and is over heating. I know on one of our tractors we went to John Deere with the piece that was messed up and they had one similar. Most of these compact tractors are the same regardless of brand...just some use much cheaper parts.

    • @nickh9632

      Nevermind I did alittle research, I guess LS has some major computer problems.

    • @luckybfarms2707
      @luckybfarms2707  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. The last "fix" the mechanic at the dealership suggested was a new ECU and/or a new wiring harness. LS wouldn't cover the cost and it was going to cost over $3000 and even then he couldn't guarantee that would solve the problem so I traded the tractor in.

    I would check the entire fuel system. Seams like the fuel system can't keep up. Start with the fuel cap. Loosen it. Then install a pressure gauge somewhere on the fuel system, and watch it, while bush hogging at high Rpm's. Watch for a drop in pressure. Computerized engine controls are very dependable, there used on everything theses days. Nothing slows down or stop a diesel engine, except fuel delivery. Good luck.

      You better do your research because LS company is making tractors for quite a few other companies like Branson and McCormick. It seems to be a big game and that all these tractor companies are playing with rebranding tractors. If you have a Rule King in your area take a look at the RK tractor which is made by tym which also makes Kioti tractors which have a good reputation and one of the best warranties on the market.
      I also want to add that I personally own a 2015 xg3037 that has been trouble-free. But I'm always looking at what's new out there.

    This may sound silly but have you changed your fuel filter it sounds like to me that there is water in the fuel for a short in the sensor that does the tractor weather there's water in the fuel or not

    • @luckybfarms2707
      @luckybfarms2707  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, all the filters were changed at the beginning of the season and it was serviced. The filters that were removed were in good enough shape that I would have felt confident in using them longer.
      I took very good care of the tractor and the dealer I traded it in to made the comment that it looked like a new tractor. That's why I got such a good trade-in value on it.

    When the foot throttle finally stopped your temp guage was in the hot position. Those temp guages are very inaccurate but i guarantee the computer is overiding the throttle position because of the temperature whether its overheating or not. I would put a digital temp guage and sending unit on and determine the actual temp. Or an infared thermometer. Overheating is your issue.

    Hello fellow Arkansas TH-camr I just found your channel. Sorry to hear that you have had troubles with LS sounds like a wiring issue more than a fly by wire throttle sensor LS has wiring harness issues in some models from the mid 2013-2017 models this should have been made right by the dealership. The dealership should have bought the defective tractor back and gave you a working tractor. Well if you ever want to trade or buy a different tractor Venture equipment is a great dealership here in Searcy, Arkansas New Holland and Kioti is what they sell. I just subbed looking forward to seeing some bee videos also thanks for sharing.
