- Some more vintage rail videos from San Diego back in 1997. First two trains were filmed at Santa Fe Depot near the heart of downtown San Diego. The last was filmed in Middletown at Noell St.
Train #1...Southbound Amtrak San Diegan arrives into San Diego with Amfleet cabcar #9638 leading the way. F40PH #237 powers the set.
Train #2...After the Amtrak train cleared, an outbound Santa Fe freight crosses Ash St. Nice Lash-up with a mixture of engines and paint.
Train #3...Amtrak San Diegan crosses Noell St with an F59phi leading. Notice the one Phase IV painted Amfleet car.
Thanks for Watching!

Wow sick Santa Fe lashup!
December 31st 1996. The date that ATSF deceased. Damn only less than a month that the BN and ATSF railroad merged in the date of the video and they already change a legendary logo on a beautiful locomotive with a legendary paint scheme. The bluebonnet was next :( RIP The good ol' Santa Fe
The K5LA along with the Amtrak California scheme is pretty common here in Northern CA along the Capitol Corridor service. VERY nice mix of ATSF power with the fact that it is second gen power with -2 series EMDs and looks like some U Boats

That early BNSF paint scheme at 2:50 is quite interesting. I can tell they obviously didn't use it for very long because that's hardly seen anymore.
@Amtrak458 I sure do, I started filming in 1994, and I have film from every year since. Didnt start on the surfline till like 95-96. I have vids of early surfline for sure!
