    Strange, Chocobo Hot and Cold was one of my favorite Mini Games of the Final Fantasy Franchise and I always greatly enjoyed it in every of my playthroughs. Breeding Chocobos in FF7 (excluding RNG abuse) was much more tiresome and getting the Sigil in FFX was borderline pain.

      little tip:
      in the ports with the speed boost, the game goes faster but the clock DOES NOT, meaning, you can often find all 8 items and get bigger scores.
      it DOES take some getting used to but its well worth the practice time.

    To this day, I honestly dislike earning Tidus' Sun Sigil in Final Fantasy X. The rest of the side quests were not that bad they just took a long time. But the sheer randomness of the balloons and the bird placements was aggravating as you can not get hit once and you have to achieve a time of less than 0:00.0. I swear I would rather fight every super boss in Final Fantasy history with my initial equipment than to ever play that mini-game ever again.
    When it came to Final Fantasy XV, I did not mind the fetch quests. What I disliked was the extra dungeon you had to complete to get the Black Hood accessory for Noctis. I felt like I was in a Van Gogh painting and not in a good way. The dungeon did not logically make any sense and it took forever to complete it.
    Definitely in agreement over the fishing mini-game in Final Fantasy XII. While the other two badges just took a long time to acquire, this badge I got by pure luck. After a secondary playthrough, I simply decided that the Wrymhero Blade was simply not worth it. You can achieve a high combo rate with the Masamune katana and Genji Gloves alone while your health was low. While this changed in the Zodiac Age, by the time you attained the Wrymhero Blade, the only worthwhile boss you could use it against was Zodiark. The fact that it is less of a status symbol in the Zodiac Age update does not change how exasperating it is to acquire.
    That being said, I generally enjoy the side-quests in Final Fantasy games as they enrich the characters, lore, and the world. However, like most players, I dislike the sheer randomness of certain side-quests.

      one thing i love about the re-releases of FF9 was the turbo feature, which you might think would make Chocobo hot and cold unplayable since it speeds the game up, however, the timer didn't speed up, so it made it so easy to get perfect games for easy points.

    The sidequest to get the Sylph summon from FF IV. It was a cave that had almost no useful treasure in it. Then, when you found Yang, you had to go back to the surface, get a pan from his wife (who was never even given a name.) and go all the way back down to wake him up. Once you did all that, the summon you got wasn't even terribly useful.
    The Hidon sidequest from FF VI. It required you to go through a cave with literally NO useable treasure and appease a bossy treasure chest. You needed 27 pieces of coral, and you needed to feed it to him in one go. It never tells you that you need 27 pieces, which is a very square number. Then, once you did all that, you face Hidon, and there isn't even a guarantee that he'll use Grand Train, the blue magic spell you came down for.
    Golden chocobo from FF VII. Get a blue or a green chocobo, then get the one you didn't get. Then get a black chocobo. Then level that one up to S level by winning a lot of consecutive games and hope that Mexican guy who can't be beat isn't in any of the races. After a lot of work, you MAY get a gold chocobo so you can get Knights of the Round and break the game wide open.

      On the gold chocobo, just beat Ruby Weapon the Desert Rose it drops can be traded to the old man in Kalm for one. On that note, the why for the two ways to get a Gold Chocobo is incase you missed the trigger to use the farm to house your birds. But seriously, if you get the farm trigger it should force what you get from the old man to be something different.

Anyways Ruby counters with Ultima if you summon them. When it comes to Chocobo Breeding in Final Fantasy VII, I simply just raced all my Chocobo's to S-Rank by feeding them Sylkis Greens via the W-Item duplication glitch. It was a bit random, but I got the Chocobo's I wanted pretty easily. Also, I beat Ruby Weapon by inflicting paralysis via Added Effect + Hades or using the Dazers item, and then when my limit bar was full, I just mimicked Omnislash with Cloud or Angermax with Barret.

    Masked Canrivale isn't that annoying in and of itself. As long as you have learned all of the spells it acts more as a puzzle type of game than anything, and most of the puzzles go by relatively quickly, which prevents them from going stale
    Noteworthy though is that I said "as long as you have learned all the spells". THAT is the annoying part to Blue Mage
    Leveling as BLU is hard and dull, forcing you to either have 3 other friends who want to level it up or having to do it while grinding overworld mobs or fates. And boy does it get pretty dull pretty fast.
    Not to mention a lot of spells are located in dungeons or bosses, meaning you nees 3 or 7 other people willing to help you learn that spell in the first place
    There is also one more thing BLU has that is even worse than the Masked Carnivale. The log
    It tasks you with clearing content with a full party of BLU, synched (so no level advantage) and echo off (so no power boost if you die) and it includes the hardest content in the game like savage raids
    That is, in my opinion, the most annoying sidequest relating to BLU.

    • @silkyfi6652
      @silkyfi6652 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's pretty annoying that blue mage is supposed to be "the" solo job, but a lot of the best tools come from content you can't solo. Most of the trial spells should be available from Masked Carnivale or some kind of other solo challenge, like a blu only deep dungeon.

    • @parissmith5727
      @parissmith5727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agreed. In theory, the only thing players needed to do was accept all the quests/ hunts they could in town before setting out, effectively making all the random exploration and battles have a "purpose." By the time players got back to town to rest, most of the quests could be completed the following morning when talking to NPCs.
      In practice, most players got the quests, got the markers, and grinded them out as quickly as possible, which meant a lot of rigid backtracking. The game mechanics tried to funnel players into that convenient loop of setting out, doing what they wanted, coming back to town, and turning in their quests, but most of us just used a guide for completion's sake as we tended to do in the earlier games.
      Really, I don't think Square needed to attempt a Ubisoft style open-world in the first place. The "stylized" open-worlds from the older games and their sidequest structure I always thought was perfectly fine. Even Lost Odyssey had a better system than FFXV's, in my opinion.

    I think the "collect" quests were even worse than the fetch quests in FFXV. You had to look in specific areas for the tiniest items on the ground that barely had any visual indicator they were there.
    I remember spending at least 20 minutes scrounging around the same patch of forest because some hunter asked me to disarm traps he set up or something. These traps were hidden in tall grass, behind rocks, even in the open, but without any visual indicator in game to look for, you're literally just walking around until you stumble into a trap and get the prompt to disable it. Additionally, 20 minutes in real time equate to multiple night cycles in game, meaning reduced visibility (flashlight) and fending off trash mob spawns until daybreak.

      The payout for her quest out shines the annoyance of the quest. Three auto-hastes Disc one, and combine it with the CC of Balam garden and you have ample material on Disc four to max out your entire party with card mod, seeing that each member of the club has set rare card levels, and if you wiped out the rules you hated in certain regions that they play with, makes farming the cards way to easy. Yes finding the card that got sent out is annoying, but regaing the card you lost to her is not that bad. But then again that is my opinion on the matter.

    Monster Capture from FFX was a fun minigame, because I just LOVED the CTB battle system. Couple that with effects like Stone/Death-strike, and you could get 10 of practically all fiends in Spira in a day. Personally Stonestrike was better, since Deathstrike still needed luck, and more enemies were weak to Petrify.

    should have included the FFXIV optional fishing quest for the 7 legendary fish, actually painful to finish with some windows to catch them appearing once in a REAL WEEK

    In a game called pso you have a quest counter where you take certain quests from. Once you complete a quest you can't do it again until you complete every single quest. Well in some of those quests there are some certain people that if you say certain things to there is a secret quest in-between these quests that can help you unlock a very important feature of the game. The only issue is the game came out on dreamcast in early 2000 when the internet wasnt as big as it is today so little people knew about this. The only way I did figure it out was by reading one of those very old cheat code books you used to find in public libraries or school libraries.

    Lol if you're going to add an entry from 9 on this list, how on earth did CHaC rank lower than Tetra Master, or *shudder* jump rope? Even the frog catching mini game and the friggin coin collections were more painful!

    God, I hated the fetch quests so much in FFXV, but the ones I hated were the ones from Dino. Idk, maybe it was the constant driving back in worth, the constant jumping every time I tried to pick up the items, or maybe it was Dino's horrible "bada bing, bada boom!" stere*type dialect. The quests were just horrible.

    I just did the ff12 fishing quest two weeks ago and I didn't think it was bad. It was obscure though and would be really difficult without a guide!

    Most of the side quests felt more exhausting rather than annoying. What's irritating while doing side quests are the inconveniences such as monster encounters impeding your task completion and travelling, then remembering you forgot something and have to back track to retrieve it.

    For me one of the most annoying things I tried to do in ff15 was trying to catch all the fish in the Saxham Reservoir. I still get triggered thinking about that lol and I loved the fishing in ff15 and still hated that place. When I finally left I wanted nothing more than to drop a meteor on top of that lake.
