Kokata and the entire west bengal is famous for it's hindu heritage. We have 13 main pujas (festivals in which we worship different Gods) in 12 months. One the the biggest here is Durga Puja which itself is recognised as a UNESCO heritage. If you consider, this is at par with Diwali and Holi with the rest of India. It is good that you visited here but i would like more foreigners visit here during Durga Puja and it gets the worldwide coverage 😊 (In durga puja, we worship Goddess durga, and it is the most important in our bengal tradition since we mostly belong to the Shakti sect of Hinduism where Female form of God is the most devine being)
There are atleast 10 more pujas in west bengal in which various forms of Goddess Durga is worshipped. Like Kali Puja, Jagatdhatri Puja. And the good part is that one for every specific puja, a specific city is renowed. Like for example, Naihati is famous for its Kali Puja, while Krishnanagar for its Jagatdhatri Puja.
Compared to other British colonies, when you visit Calcutta you can tell by the monuments they built that the Crown really wanted to hold the place for a long time. But sadly I don’t think everyone back in Britain shared the same opinion and a lot of atrocities were committed in the region. And its true that compared to other Indian cities it’s a very safe city, even at night time for women. Best time to visit is November/December imo. Cooler temps and between October (Durga Puja festival) and New Years, the whole city comes alive with decorations and great vibes everywhere
One thing you shoud know Zane, Kolkata hosts the oldest football derby in Asia, that is Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. Both of them are one of the oldest clubs in the entire world. Football is in our blood. When the rest of the country is immersed in cricket, we can proudly say that we are the lone flagbearers of Indian football. You can not find a single peole talk about cricket here because in our streets we play football just like Brazil.

Brother I am from kolkata. I just wanted to say that please do not eat paratha with biriyani rice. This paratha is called lacha paratha. It can be eat with any mutton or chicken gravy dish. But never with biriyani rice. Authentic way to have Kolkata biriyani is with mutton chap [ its a mutton dish available in any biriyani restaurant] u can also try lacha paratha with mutton chap.

I appreciate what you say, we do not have to look, like west, while developing, we have to develop keeping in mind our Geographic, Atmospheric and envioronmental aspect in respect to modern attributes of development. It is not necessary to copy and paste the West to show that we are developed.
Traveling around the world I've found that a lot of popular places allows cameras but don't allow tripods or stands. They want people to record but there is globally too much of an issue with people setting up tripods in walkways or doing dances for tiktoks or things like that to disrupt other people.

Ah! The tram line 💔💔💔💔 I still remember the day when the first time I visited Kolkata, as a young kid with parents, I started to cry 😭😭😭 later my mom took me onto the tram, and made me happy. How can I forgot this memory? Right now, the tram has terminated in Kolkata... From demographic changes to political violence among many others but this city has a lot of things to offer. Wish this city could go back to a cleanlier time - roads, and famous places were much clearer. Food is still great and people who like literature and art can still find some solace.

Right now, the tram has terminated in Kolkata... Really sad that the trams have been removed. They should put in new trams. Here in Poland, where I live, we have trams in all larger cities. In French cities, there are putting in lots of new lines and modern trams.

It's disturbing to see foreigner's India vlogs always happen to be in western India. And even if they come to east, it's mostly Assam or Nagaland or Meghalaya. They forget about West bengal, kolkata, the first capital of colonial India. And it's one of the Mega cities of India. Without too much pollution as in Delhi or Mumbai. And there is a lots of places in west bengal to visit. It has it's own unique cuisine too. Some dishes and sweets that is world famous! And it's nice to watch a kolkata vlog at last. No, Because of high population on street, for people's safety, you need to keep other alert (if needed), to prevent accident.
Other country, where horn is not normal, I am sure they don't face that amount of traffic.
If they faced that amount of traffic, they also used their horn too.
After all the point of having a horn in a car is to use it if needed to prevent unnecessary accident.
