No the penalty system still sucks. Did a race on Le Mans GT3, idiot knocked me off, he got no penalty. I get 0.50 secs for going wide lol. Then i get a 4.5 secs penalty a lap later for a slight tap in the rear of another car who broke right in front of me. Then drivers cutting corners and getting away with it. Still a broken game sadly. Well done Turn 10, you really did build the game from the ground up, and left it on the ground, in the dirt where it belongs😂

From what I've seen you can manipulate the system more than before. If you have a slight contact in a breaking zone or something and you drive off track on porous, the other car gets a penalty for that. If you crash in the wall on porous the other car gets an absurd high penalty. So it's different but not solved at all
ah, ok i get what your saying there, yeah ok so the system is still blaming the car that hit first but not assessing the victims actions on whether it car could have been saved. Yeah that seems like a step that may have been overlooked lol
@@Flashms yes. Also if you're bumbdrafting at Daytona for example and the car in front gets a small off track at turn 1, you can get a penalty for avoidable contact. I've seen other ppl complaining about that.
Yeah, got a 0.6 pen for looking at chat and drifting off down Mugello Straight on Wednesday, so you still get some stupid pens. Also, Happy Birthday Dominic, you share the day with my mum.

I haven't received any penalty since the update. I count that as an indicator for the penalty system to work properly now ;-) About the Peugot and Audi you "killed" on Watkins Glen, I would say they were racing incidents in both cases. You were just on a different line they did not not expect. The bus stop is a tricky spot because there are at least two possible lines, your's and the shallow line where you just tap the brake going into the chicane trying to go as straight as possible and then brake hard for the exit. I'm not sure which is faster, it probably depends on the car and driving style.

So 99 percent of drivers take the line I took because it is faster and safer. The Audi took the defensive line. Of course you have to be in a defend territory and while they were behind they have nothing to defend and we’re no where near able to safely overtake and as I was in front. It’s my corner to take. Like you say it is a tricky place but they were more than a car length behind and as awful as it’s going to sound that’s not a lunge spot. Sometimes it’s safer to back out and wait for a better opportunity to overtake. You have to pick your battles wisely. The Audi is a capable car I have gone 2 wide with drivers through the bus stop but we were both side by side all the way and it can be done by leaning on each other. That move cannot be done. Money says if they had a pixel more speed they would have happily sent me into the wall. Even though they were very much behind. Hope what I am saying makes sense lol. All the best bud
The penalty system is better, but not quite there yet. Yesterday I ran at Sebring in TCR and spun in turn one. I got collected a couple of seconds later and was given a 3 second penalty. My car was nose first in the wall and I was not moving when I got hit. That said, it is definitely improved overall.
Last night doing Spa I went off in Radillion on the left side. I lifted, shifted 1 gear down, lost all momentum for the straight and was a sitting duck and lost three positions. 1.1 seconds penalty. Should have kept it planted.
Yeah that corner is such a pain because sometimes you can go off keep planted and get away with it other times it can bite you. It’s a funky old place lol. 1.1 is a little on the tough side though. Maybe less than half a second just for the offtrack.
so some improvements to the penalty system, thats good. that audi guy was a bit to much counting on his luck, and rearending you was just a foul move... he did not get the better part of it and ended up getting shafted by himself, i lolled 😆
yeah i am glad it has been improved, I mean the thing is with the audi i was ahead by way more than a cars length and the corner is mine to take, if i didnt move when i did they would have just divebombed me of the track and it would have been me in the wall. the way i did that corner, it is one of the fastest ways to take the bus stop. usually that inside is for defending the corner but you need to be defending in the first place, you cannot defend when your 2 cars away lol. but i am glad you laughed at it though. I had a similar race at grand oak club last night, balls to the walls style race for all 8 laps and lots of typical touring car door bumping, lobby was full as well for each race I did, maybe absence makes the ❤ grow fonder
Yeah, I mean they were the ones that hurt the most, while track limits blatant of track are not as time penalty heavy, but i do hear the pixel over are still quite punishing

Lobbies have been relatively clean, penalties seem to be on point (had some good racing earlier with a little bit of door rubbing but nothing malicious), no penalties, loads of fun. I have missed TC so much.
it is so much more fun when you are not being hammered for every little thing you do, I love a little door rubbing and leaning on other cars, its part of TC. I think it is a very welcome update to the penalty system
Maybe, but the ghosting is still trash. Coming around curve on Spa yesterday and a spun out car unghosted in the middle of the apex & I had enough time to slam on the brakes before completely rear ending them 0.0006 seconds after they unghosted right in front of me while I was going full speed and they were going half speed.
Yeah I feel the cars do need to ghost for longer and make it a little more obvious that they are coming out of ghosting. I have learned the hard way to avoid a ghosted car just like it was a normal car. Ha I think I have a video on how I learned the hard way to lol. I think I got a penalty for it to lol. Got to love logic. lol.
They should make car flash in and out of existence, before they fully unghost, to warn nearby players it's about to materialize. With countdown in name over a car, so other players know when grace period ends exactly.
@kireta21 I thought they flicker a few times. Like it is around 2/3 flicks but I do believe if flicks now. Really should still avoid ghosted cars if they were not ghosted anyway.
Better but not fixed. I got one for cutting the chicane at nurb gp after being hit from behind at turn-in. Next race I got a 4 second for getting hip-checked on the inside of t1 at rd atl with nothing but grass on my right side.
nah man, its all good 😁 others have mentioned their are ways to still manipulate a situation but again it is still AI vs Human, but I would say it has vastly improved. IF you get a chance to test it out bud, go for it and let me know you experience, our mileage may vary.

You need to test with faster cars. The slower the car, easier to judge. There are some differences but overall the penalty system is the same or worse. I had someone knock me off the inside of the track on their rejoin from the outside. I lost time and still got an off track. Instead of giving the wrong person the penalty, it seems to give less penalties. Drivers can still get away with too much.
Yeah it is still easily exploited to an extent. It is still a computer system judging and while a computer does do this it’ll always be the case. It has to go through and yes and no tree before it can judge. So it’ll never be human. That’s where the problem lies. It’s not human lol.
@@Flashms I agree no system will be perfect, but a much higher level of accuracy could be achieved. I have professional experience with telemetry and the technology involved in developing something like this. I believe the window of data being maintained per car is too small which is why it struggles so much. Maintaining a larger window of time would require more resources per game (memory and cpu). Less games per server means it would require more servers/money for the same number of games. IMO they are trying to make the most of a low budget penalty system and it's not working. No amount of training can compensate for insufficient data.

And the ones where you got collected in a crash and somehow the whole crash was your fault lol. Oooo man those drive me nuts.

Because of this, when I went out of the track, I'm braking for like 0.5 - 1.0 sec and no penalty receiving, but this time it causes me 2 or 3 pos, sometimes more. (And like +2 or +2.5 sec)
