Cascadia was the first game I played after recovering from Covid back in 2021. Holds a special place in my heart from that. The first game was a bit rough since I was still dealing with some bad brain fog.
I held off on picking up Cascadia because I tend to only play games that light with my family and there's 5 or more of us most of the time. Knowing the expansion was going to both boost the count to 6 and make a it a little meatier to play with friends, I finally got a copy.

One of my most played games. I have the expansion on preorder. Very much looking forward to it. However, i have just got Life of the Amazonia which is very, very good and definitely has Cascadia vibes
I have played Cascadia and loved it! I agree with what Tylor said in final thoughts of that this just gives a fun simple game, a little more depth for when you want a little bit more thinky version of Cascadia. Can still pull it out and play with new people with the base game, but add the expansion once people want a little more decision space, but still just hanging out putting down land and animals.
I think this will probably complicate Cascadia beyond what I'm looking to get out of it, but I would certainly try it out. Those wetland meeples are pretty awesome though!
Cascadia is one of my fave games to relax with and I can’t wait to try the expansion. However, I’m worried that it will become too thinky to relax with, and be pushed into the realm of Wingspan or Alhambra!
I’m curious at your thoughts when you play, the play in itself is still quite streamlined but your decisions definitely have more weight with the expansion. I think that’s what makes modularity great as well you can decide how you want to experience the game :)

I have played Cascadia ten times or so now and I'm not sure about the expansion. To me, Cascadia is the perfect game to play with people that don't play a lot of games. This expansion seems to complicate the game more and I'm not sure if I'm looking for that with Cascadia...
I understand why you say the original box art feels more like "Cascadia." The name "Cascadia" comes from the Cascade Mountains, which are prominent in that painting.
Cascadia quickly became one of my favorite games over the last year, so I am pumped for this to a degree. I am most excited to increase the player count up to 6 and have more versatility to the species cards. I don’t care how much time it adds between turns, I think that’s the biggest draw. I could see myself never implementing the landmarks or at least not for a good while.
We’re doing some photos soon, and will aim to do a video but have quite a bit lined up for content over the next month so we will have to see! It’s pretty great though :)

There is quite a lot in the expansion box, and I do believe you can play a solo game with just the expansion material so I can certainly see the value there but I hear you from the expansion perspective

The meeples and species tiles on the board is just too adorable, the table presence is certainly enhanced

That’s super valid! What I do like is the variety in tiles and increase in player count, as you can just implement that and keep the game the same :)

Price of expansion is pricey, considering the base game is sold at the same price, and I wish the box wasn't this big，waste of space
