I strongly believe iri addons should offer a much different approach to a killers' playstyle instead of straight up buffing their power beyond belief ^^
Lots of people share this opinion but the reality is that creating alternative playstyles for 38 different Killers while somehow not making them broken is extremely difficult. I'm okay having add-ons like Alucard's Shield which do slightly whacky and creative effects that don't necessarily require super tight design to be balanced.
Yeah I mean I love the walking nurse build but honestly not many killers can do alternative playstyle. Like sure you can but with DBD spaghetti code It be impossible
I've always had this cool idea for a game similar to dbd. The killers/monsters of course have their power, but instead of addons they have 2 alternate forms of their power that you can choose at the start of the match. Like for example, if a killer has a weapon with a blade on the end of a chain, they would have the choice of either being able to swing the chain weapon from a distance and have a ranged attack, almost like a nemmy whip. Or the other option of using the chains to grapple around the map like a movement tool. Something I could think of for dbd is something like, the plague can now vomit trails on the floor, and if survivors walk over it, they get infected. It's very interesting to think about.
Man Nemmy and Pyramid head need add on passes. Some of Trappers add ons should simply be basekit and that would actually make him feel decent and more consistent
Nemesis, Slinger, Pyramid Head, Chucky, Myers, Freddy, Pinhead, and probably most of the earlier killers need add-on passes. Chucky’s are really fucked up too because he literally just came out but he has some of the most boring, uninspired, and useless add-ons in the game.
I think trapper should have trapper sack basekit, plus allowing you to move traps. One of the worst parts of trapper is having to pick up your power in some obscure corner of the map, on top of having such a limited capacity.
1:25 To elaborate on this, like Wesker, each infected Survivor reduces a cooldown. In this case, the Hallucination charge timer. Unlike Wesker, however, this charge timer works on a curve. The spawn timer is normally 45 seconds, not counting the 3-second deployment when the side of the screen is green-yellow. The net effect of this is that 1 Survivor Weakened knocks off 9 seconds (36 seconds), 2 knocks off about 10 more (26), three knocks off 7 additional seconds (19), and all four lowers that to a whopping 13 seconds. In other words, four gives the best reduction, but on a per-infection basis it gets stronger for the first two and less effective for the other two. Additionally, Weakening someone knocks off 10 basekit seconds of the charge timer, meaning when you start, you start with needing to charge for only 1.4 seconds with this add-on. This basically means you can place the first Hallucination immediately, wherever you'd like. Of course, only having three at a time means that it'll also likely be dispelled by age soon too.
Personally, one of my favorite iri addons is the iri video tape on sadoko, I know it sucks but it is just really fun to constantly zoom around the map without the worry of disabling your our tvs. Plus it can be even more fun to combine it with friends til the end and bloody finger nails to down the obsession in an instant
Honestly people call it bad, but forcing Survivors to have to go clear across the map and not just like 20 meters every 3 seconds is pretty strong imo. Not sure why so many claim it’s garbage.

This may sound weird but I would like an explained series. Hear me out... When Otz covers releasing killers we get a general overview but just the initial insight before people fully understand how to deal with things. As a survivor who has played with many randoms killers are not fully explained how to deal with them SO when a video comes out like this and I see that there is a downside if the Unknown starts with us all under his power maybe even how to play against it feels like a learning opportunity. The proposition is a series based around an in depth analysis similar to the Clown deep dive from a while back where you explain what experienced/beginner killers are looking for on specific people and maybe how they like to see you mess up so that we can try to avoid such things or do them if we want to pick up said killer. Making the general populace better and maybe less beginner killers running 4 slowdown.

In the meantime you should start playing killer. A really good way to learn how to counter a killer is to learn how to play them proficiently and learn what you want/need for the match to go well and what survivors do that prevents that from happening.
I still think addons in general (both on killers and survivor items) should focus more on being wacky or gameplay changing rather than being flat upgrades. Slightly decreasing my cooldown or something is boring, I’d rather have all addons be some wacky shit like the ricochet knives on Trickster
this killer SHOULD effectively teach people to look behind them. The moment you don't, you're taking a hit whether it be from the bomb or the teleport.
It's because otz is playing on max FOV and killer visuals are designed around the base FOV where the missing tentacle parts aren't visible. I really hope they change it someday
Lately I've been feeling like the cooldown on the shot and the speed at which survivors get rid of the Unknown's effect has been making his power very difficult to use. Sure, I might be misusing his power, but I rarely hurt survivors with the power and I see other Unknowns suffer from it as well. I'd like to see changes to this.

perhaps a iridescent addon for nemesis so that his infection has a build up over time like ouroboros infection, but instead of a speed penalty they get aura reading periodically when they cough like plagues iridescent.
I love the UK, my 2nd favorite after my main Billy. I always get props from survs cause I can make some serious mortar shots. On the right map I can crush with my build and not even have a gen regress. Love the creativity and ambition this killer brings to the table.
The number of Survivors who hide just around the corner to a gen I just kicked is way too high. Now, I'll hang around the first time to see if the Killer has Nowhere to Hide or not but in more than a handful of my Killer games the same Survivor will just, stay near the gen. Even if I found them right away after kicking the gen last time. Guh, I _hate_ Scene Partner, it is so annoying. Either as Killer or as another Survivor I hate it so much. 8:53 OK, as Killer you DO actually see that someone took on a hook state. I've not run into this Perk as Killer yet so I had no idea. That makes it easier for me as someone who likes to go for two hooks on everyone before I third hook anyone. Though this _may_ be a bug that gets changed later. I hope it doesn't. I still don't know why the devs are so resistant to the idea of allowing Killers to see individual hooks counts. The "It'll encourage tunneling" arguments are invalid because if a Killer player is going to tunnel they are going to tunnel. It should be easy enough to remember "Hook number two" if you have that mindset. Don't even need to care about what Survivor it is, just remember the number because as soon as you enter case the twitchy legs will show you who you are in chase with. If it's not the number you're thinking of drop chase and go find that number instead. Seeing individual hook counts won't make it any easier to tunnel than it already is but it _would_ make it easier to not _accidentally_ tunnel. 9:40 Did you not hear them earlier? On the subject of Iridescent Add Ons, one of my biggest disappointments is Trapper's. And I say this as a Trapper Main. When you place Traps, against even decent Survivors, you need to be smart and creative. Understand Survivor Looping behavior. Survivors will just look to verify if a loop or Window is safe. And will just take the M1 if they don't got a choice. So you need the sneaky traps Survivors are less likely to see coming until it is too late. But his Iris...they reward playing actively worse. They reward putting your Traps in just dumb obvious locations because you WANT Survivors to waste time disarming them. Irridescent Stone makes it a literal waste of time cause it'll just auto-reset itself. Bloody Coil nets you free injuries. And that makes me sad cause I love being a devious mastermind and seeing others being devious masterminds. Instead, most Trappers I VS as Survivor I just see "Pft. Why would you place such an obvious trap? This isn't gonna work on any...ah. That's why." Parallel this to Deathslinger's Iri Coin. Fine. Yes. It's an Insta Down Iri. But at least one that demands skill cause it rewards you for going for longshots. And it is a risk-reward since if you miss, they now have more distance.
Getting BHVR to meaningfully buff trapper is like pulling teeth, they just don't want to do it cause of his status as the onboarding killer and correctly buffing him is far more complicated then their standard "increase/decrease random power value by 10-20% and call it a day". All I want is them to rework the tall grass model to be thicker at the bottom so you can actually hide traps ;-;
I just think trapper isnt rewarded for doing sneaky traps in general. I have always found it to be better to just shut off certain pallets and vaults in a certain area. Basically yk give em nowhere to go in that zone. Which is also why I think bloody coil is one of his best add ons. It compliments that style of placing traps, because they are very visible and easy to see just placing them on vaults or in front of a pallets. Because it's obvious survivors will try to shut down ur zone or web some would say

I wish we would get more creative add ons making unique builds is the most fun part of the game for me but for most killers the addons feel like they don't impact much aside from purely a numbers boost At that point they're just boring because there's no room for build crafting other than min/maxing a specific aspect of your character, like how dredge's good addons just make individual parts of his power marginably better
Yeah it feels like they've gone the route of safe boring add-ons with recent killers, like the kind wesker and artist and chucky and unknown have. Like I don't think houndmaster has a single interesting addon. Even the iri undetectable one is pretty plain
For whatever it's worth, I dislike plain numbers addons (especially when there's multiple rarities that do the same thing with bigger numbers) and am including addons like this in the Custom Killers Of Blorbos From My Shows that I like making: > Survivors afflicted with Dissonant experience occasional hallucinations in the form of Illusionary Survivors and audible Survivor screams. (Illusionary Survivors crouch behind obstacles, and appear to have the same Health State and Dissonant value as the Survivor they are appearing as.) > You will not startle Crows.
You know the intro reminded me of a game as unknown I had I was losing horribly just trying to keep them in the end game area as long as I could then I just went after one of the survivors I downed them near a hill and hooked them on the hill and they finished the last gen so I Camped the hook and my hex: no one escapes death was right next to the hook as well and I had no way out I won that match with four kills
This addon with old vanishing box went crazy and somehow gearhead was good if you went for gen damage with this two addons, and put monitor and abuse it increases your chances of hitting an uvx. But now vanishing box gives a downside that i think they could tone it down to 60% because 1minute and 20 seconds can be a lot of time for a allucination to appear if you dont hit you uvx a lot of times
It is good to have iris that change playstyle, but only get something at the begining and losing something in return? Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is a survivor item addon that gives you a penalty for bringing it.
Honestly I think ultra rares should either change your play style a little, be a trade off or a flat solid buff to you kit because well… it’s an ultra rare.

god I wish this killer was more consistent. The projectile having to interact with a collision system designed nearly a decade ago leads to far too much jank, and the fact that it doesn't instantly explode upon hitting the ground means you can't really do artillery style shots unless the survivor is stationary and not expecting it.
the first part is true, dbd is a relic of a game atp and it is starting to show. the second part is absolute blasphemy, unknown is known for his clip potential
@@lolohnah On survivors that are AFK or doing a generator, sure. You can't use his power in most loops due to the bounce requirement, the slow projectile speed, and the fact that the Weakened depletes through walls by design.
The DC after being death hooked is wild to me. Your match is already over... you are just losing any earned BP and penalty. They'll be the first one to complain when their DC timer becomes 15 minutes or longer...

I love my fellow they thems to death but the trans riots happening here in the US has been causing ALOT of stress for the police and workers of the city as of late. Idk if you will ever read this Otz but I have an idea for a streak for you. Only Powers Streak, where you can only use your powers to injure and/or down survivors. Only hatchets Huntress, only chainsaw Billy etc. No idea how you can play Trapper or say Houndmaster but I'm certain you will find a way. Much love and best of luck for everything.

Can we talk about the worst part about the unknown, the fact survivors can look at you for a brief millisecond and get to regress 2 or more seconds of the weakened effect I strongly feel it should have no lingering effect you only regress while they are looking at the unknown it’s straight up unfair imo anyone else have thoughts on this?

Agreed especially because killers are so complex already. Learning killers as a beginner is already very complex

I wish we would get more creative add ons
making unique builds is the most fun part of the game for me but for most killers the addons feel like they don't impact much aside from purely a numbers boost
At that point they're just boring because there's no room for build crafting other than min/maxing a specific aspect of your character, like how dredge's good addons just make individual parts of his power marginably better
Yeah it feels like they've gone the route of safe boring add-ons with recent killers, like the kind wesker and artist and chucky and unknown have. Like I don't think houndmaster has a single interesting addon. Even the iri undetectable one is pretty plain
For whatever it's worth, I dislike plain numbers addons (especially when there's multiple rarities that do the same thing with bigger numbers) and am including addons like this in the Custom Killers Of Blorbos From My Shows that I like making:

Iri addons just buff a part of a power to a comical degree. For example, Unknown should have one that doubles the amount of hallucinations

You know the intro reminded me of a game as unknown I had I was losing horribly just trying to keep them in the end game area as long as I could then I just went after one of the survivors I downed them near a hill and hooked them on the hill and they finished the last gen so I Camped the hook and my hex: no one escapes death was right next to the hook as well and I had no way out I won that match with four kills

This addon with old vanishing box went crazy and somehow gearhead was good if you went for gen damage with this two addons, and put monitor and abuse it increases your chances of hitting an uvx. But now vanishing box gives a downside that i think they could tone it down to 60% because 1minute and 20 seconds can be a lot of time for a allucination to appear if you dont hit you uvx a lot of times

Listening to the unknowns hit sounds are fun sounds like alien reward sounds i wish there were nore variety or like a combo sound though after.
I like how with Myers/ghostface you need to stalk survivor. With Unknown u have to prevent survivor from stalking you.

It is good to have iris that change playstyle, but only get something at the begining and losing something in return? Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is a survivor item addon that gives you a penalty for bringing it.
To be fair most survivor item addons are like "5% more frequent skillchecks" or "adds 8 more charges"
Honestly I think ultra rares should either change your play style a little, be a trade off or a flat solid buff to you kit because well… it’s an ultra rare.

Behaviour just shuts down threads and sweeps it all under the rug and they seemingly have no level to combat this threat.

god I wish this killer was more consistent. The projectile having to interact with a collision system designed nearly a decade ago leads to far too much jank, and the fact that it doesn't instantly explode upon hitting the ground means you can't really do artillery style shots unless the survivor is stationary and not expecting it.
the first part is true, dbd is a relic of a game atp and it is starting to show. the second part is absolute blasphemy, unknown is known for his clip potential
@@lolohnah On survivors that are AFK or doing a generator, sure. You can't use his power in most loops due to the bounce requirement, the slow projectile speed, and the fact that the Weakened depletes through walls by design.
The DC after being death hooked is wild to me. Your match is already over... you are just losing any earned BP and penalty. They'll be the first one to complain when their DC timer becomes 15 minutes or longer...
Love to see more Unknown content!! They're always such a fun killer to see do stuff and one of the most unsettling/scary killers in the game, one of my favorites :3

Idk if you will ever read this Otz but I have an idea for a streak for you. Only Powers Streak, where you can only use your powers to injure and/or down survivors. Only hatchets Huntress, only chainsaw Billy etc. No idea how you can play Trapper or say Houndmaster but I'm certain you will find a way. Much love and best of luck for everything.

That's why you need lethal pursuer to combo with this addon

Can we talk about the worst part about the unknown, the fact survivors can look at you for a brief millisecond and get to regress 2 or more seconds of the weakened effect I strongly feel it should have no lingering effect you only regress while they are looking at the unknown it’s straight up unfair imo anyone else have thoughts on this?
