@@Twin-Nick Some hard drives can die without a reason (they can even be faulty directly from factory). It's just bad luck. No,you can't use an external for the system drive but you don't have to take apart the whole console either. Turn it upside down and in the back you will see a little plastic cover with a screw holding it,unscrew it and you can slide out the hard drive and replace it with another one. After you put in the new drive you will have to get the system software on a USB drive and follow the steps on Sony's page to get it to install on the new hard drive and that's it.

The hard drive is dead,that's why it keeps checking the storage and saying it's got corrupt files

Try moving it somewere else because my controller did that same thing where it would blink then stop then I moved it back to my room and it worked
