Björn Ulvaeus has been winning hearts of ABBA fans worldwide through his performances with the group and is best known for his wonderful composition of music that threw the band to the heights of its fame. Composed of two married couples, it was inevitable that the band eventually developed animosity within itself and such was the case with Ulvaeus and his wife Agnetha Faltskog who performed with him in ABBA. The pair is known for their breath-taking discography on stage but all that glitters is not gold, since beneath that surface was bubbling a rancid odor of discontent and animosity.

Well that is one of the main reasons they never returned to us, and no one suggests they can be, but I have to say the need to have extra ABBA songs, not least when this is proof they, more than any group ended prematurely when they're were at their peak, as their six utterly undervalued 1982 gems make clear, supersede any grand notion of purity. Both Gemini albums of the 80s are full of virtual ABBA songs-in fact, certainly on the debut, it's pretty clear that's the stuff they would have continued with, and there's no denying there's a clear Agnetha/Frida type vocal-blend approach. And tellingly enough, the Gemini 'Slowly' as an angry and resigned duet and a more thunderous musical approach, far outstrips the lonely Frida one, which without Agnetha and the right sound, just fails in a way this doesn't.
Granted there's an awful track totally un-ABBA like via No.9 on the 2nd Gemini album, but this can be deleted, as there is an excellent B-side 'Copy Love' they never bothered putting on album, and another B-side 'When I Close My Eyes' that's supposed to be track 10 on Gemini 1st album, but in typical B&B poor judgement, it was deemed as no more apt for it than 'Should I Laugh Or Cry' was for "The Visitors"-which I also add to that album! I also add the 4 CHESS singles to complete the "Opus 10" 1982 album, and the singers of these do the same almost-ABBA job our princesses do. I also play 'The Arbiter' and 'The Deal: No Deal' as less clear but still good additions to a barely padded out ABBA 80s non-album collection-they had more for the 70s, even if YT uploads of song-timed demos are the only way to do it.
I'm pleased that there is ABBAtars... ABBA will live on forever, through them... even when the fab four are gone😊

Get your facts straight. He was the nightmare not her. He was more interested in the music and she wanted to be with her children. Time away from them while touring was killing her. He did not see this till it was too late and they divorced. He admitted he had done her wrong.

He did punch above his weight. It is amazing how he wrote great lyrics and had Agnetha sing The Winner Takes it all. I wonder what she was thinking having to sing that song while his second wife was on tour with Abba. It's a strange old world isn't it? I have been married three times and i can tell you it hurts like hell when you split up. And it's got nothing to do with me liking Wedding Cake. lol.
But that's life. On a happier note, Abba were such a wonderful band who brought so such happiness to the world. Their image was spot on, The production and musicality was terrific. All we need now is for Benny and Bjorn to finish "Just like that" which i think would be a number one single and life would be complete.

A couple`s marriage & any problems they encounter should remain private between themselves.
Agnetha proved this to be the case when she wrote her book `Just As I Am` in which she said at the start that she had no intention of using the book to discuss anyone else` (paraphrased). In other words her book was not intended to discuss her former marriage.
It`s called descretion and knowing how to conduct herself as the beautiful lady she is.
I absolutely adore Agnetha 💟and from what I`ve read she`s had her share of problems just like most people do in life.
The difference being when a person is famous then everything plays out on the world stage for everyone to see to see and I cannot even start to imagine just how hurtful that must be.
Agnetha is a lady of great talent in her own right.
Abba is in the past now and all four members of the group agreed that they didn`t wish for any re-union.

People assume that entertainers are naturally comfortable on stage, but this is not always the case. I think Agnetha enjoyed the recording process far more than she did the live concerts. Bjorn was and is a businessman. ABBA was the business and for the first 6 years it was a whirlwind. It was no coincidence that around 1979, when Bjorn and Agnetha separated, this was the beginning of the end. Had they found a healthy balance between business and family, pethaps ABBA would have continued longer. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with a mother wanting to be with her kids either.

I was in my early twenties when ABBA visited Australia their FIRST overseas tour and as they have said publicly their start of International stardom, i was in the crush of thousands of Melbournians who welcomed them at the Melbourne Town Hall, it was chaos on steroids , the noise the cheering clapping was deafening they were standing on a balcony and the crowds were adoringly looking up at them, i skipped out to see them on my lunch break from work and because of the crowds it took me 3 hours to return to the office a journey that usually takes 15 minutes , i loved Abba adored their music, i still do at 78 years .

There is no other band like the ABBA. Their music, the lyrics and their personality destined them to something great. I still to this day prefer an ABBA song whenever I am sad or happy. Thank you for the music ❤️

@@lillianflorence6056 Agnetha had a deathly fear of flying which the band had to do. On one flight into the US they hit the tail end of a hurricane, they were low on fuel and had to land on a taxiway because the runway damaged. They had a performance that evening but Agnetha couldn't do it and was sedated. Another problem was they all were high on Adrenaline while performing and the aftermath was depression. Agnetha wanted to be a stay at home mother but of course that couldn't happen.
How I remember the video of agnetha in her red dress standing alone singing The Winner Takes it all. She seemed extremely sad.

Not really an Abba fan but have always recognised their talent. First l heard of them was Eurovision and thought them a one off. Then l heard the piano figure on SOS and knew straight away they were something major. In addition to the music l also admire the way they handled the personal stuff. The Day Before You Came
Bjorn has to be a genius for writing such melodious uplifting music. It's all of the elements coming together to complement the vocals and lifts the song to enjoyable danceable music. I call ABBA the 2nd greatest music group after the Beatles.

The Beatles were fantastic and Paul and John also George wrote great songs. But there is more to Abba's songs than The Beatles songs. Musically way beyond the Beatles. And George Martin was the genius and should take credit for what he recorded. We have been so lucky to be alive and heard such wonderful music over the last 50 years. I was there at the start of Merseybeat and Liverpool was the place to be in the 60s.

hmm more like yes the marriage was awful, but he was a gruelling task master, and she had anxiety (and even stage fright) to captialise on their succes they travelled when their children were young which would have exacerbated her anxiety (and resentment and i believe she has said this in an interview) and i imagine she probably did become surly.. that doesn't justify him cheating on her.. so while he's responsible in many ways for the groups success (opportunistic decision making combined with absolute talent) .. his inability to keep his pecker in his pants was the reason the group broke up.
I don't know where you got the idea of Bjorn being a task master when it was him and Benny who were the musical team. ABBA didn't tour as much as Fleetwood Mac or The Rolling Stones because they didn't consider themselves as a live band. They were offered a billion dollars for a 250 city tour but band said no. Bjorn wasn't the reason why the band broke up. They wanted to do other things. “We ended, and for creative reasons. We ended because we felt the energy was running out in the studio, because we didn't have as much fun in the studio as we did this time. “And that's why we said, 'Let's go on a break."

Agnetha wasn't just gorgeous,she was really ultra talented,she was a singer,producer,piano player,composer,she could read and write music also,she has been called a teenage prodigy.She has the most beautiful soprano voice, powerful yet delicate and emotional.. she was the victim in a narc relationship,,she cared more for her children than career,she is a good sort,she has this aura of purity and greatness about her. To this day nobody has sung the winner takes it all even close to the emotional and technically perfect rendition, ,you can feel the pain,,but it is so beautifully and effortly sung. Faith Hill tried and I'm sorry it was awful,she overcooked it.

Most people now knows that ABBA had a pretty bad, tense and conflicting relationship among themselves. Back then, it was a well kept secret.
No it wasnt that bad. They had great relationship, even after the divorces. Only in 1981 started it to go downhill

I saw ABBA in 1979 at the Meca in Milwaukee. I didn't know Agnetha and Bjorn were divorced. It was an awesome concert with music and flashing lights. Agnetha and Frida had cut their hair short. That was the only difference.
The comments below are revealing, but just saying my favorite Abba song is, "What's the name of the game,? which I personally thought traversed their personal issues better than winner takes all. It's a very emotional song, and the girls combined harmonies are transcendent.

My Favourite ABBA break up song, has to be The Winner Takes it All. 🤗 However My FAVOURITE ABBA song is MOVE ON... From ABBA The album, it's So Uplifting... 🤗 There are so many brilliant ABBA songs even with all the success they had I still think they're unaerated. 🤗
Well it's not the worst of these 'celeb' biographies, which usually are peppered with mistakes. There are a couple here though. Björn started his next relationship in early 1979, not long after he and Agnetha separated, not 1981. It is also incorrect to suggest that ABBA were a three piece group before recruiting a fourth member. Benny and Frida actually became a couple in March 1969, two months before Björn and Agnetha hooked up. The four of them helped each other out on solo projects. They toured together in late 1970 in their 'Festfolk' cabaret show. Benny, Björn and Agnetha did tour as a trio in 1971 but they were performing their own solo stuff. It was only decided to give it another go as a foursome in early 1972 and singing in English this time. That's when they cut their first record as a official group. That is when the group that would become ABBA was born. They were all friends and had been two couples for three years by then so it was always going to be a four member band.

Agneta born 1950, had her first solo hit in 1967 (age 17). So she was not inexperienced when she met Björn (one year later), in Sweden she was already a household name. In 1968 she tried to launch her career with a German single, but that did not work out. - Didn't matter later, ABBA was especially popular also in the German speaking countries.
