I absolutely had to play this fantastic renaissance piece on the uke! I'm playing here on my Glyph Soprano. Tabs are available here: www.ukulele-art...
Dear Wilfried! I have the complete tabs of Pierre Attaingnant and never liked it on the guitar/lute. But his is very inspiring! YAY! Thank you! Per-Olov
SOOooo beautifully played Wilfried!!! I love the part where you pluck two strings at the same time. Love Pierre Attaingnant's music. I am going to post this one on my Facebook page & in our Soprano Ukulele Lovers Group!! :-) and that spruce top roap binding Soprano is soooo beautiful...♥
Oh Wilfred , how do you do it ? This piece is delightful and especially with your playing. Just the right medicine ..Close my eyes and can see the people of long ago ..in a much different world to that which we have now :-) Thank you , Helena
Mr. Welti, thank you so much for taking the time to create tab books of your arrangements! I have learned most of this piece by just watching you play but I had to order both of your classical e-books. I have to admit however that as a guitar player, I find the re-entrant tuning of a ukulele to be very difficult to get accustomed to.
Thank you! The re-entrant tuning of the ukulele can be used in very interesting ways. The campanella technique (which is used a bit here too) dates back to the Renaissance and Baroque. I believe that the ukulele can be amazingly authentic for early music.
seriusly you made me smile, this was all the music that i played when i studied classical guitar, and i got this morning and uke plan but i weren't really sure how to make it or the form now i saw your video... i wanna make an ukelele in a spanish style to sound as sweet at yours!
Thanks. This is a custom Glyph soprano with alpine spruce top and american black walnut back and sides. The rope binding makes it very comfortable to hold. :) Still my best ukulele! :)
i don't know what kind of wood use yet, Perhaps spanish walnut, indian rosewood or from madagascar... get a worked spanish wood product is actually hard, maybe i could fine some german cedar or even spanish, or alpine spruce as yours... The cool think about this is that is an uke, not an historical intrument which it gotta be done with some specific wood... german red cedar with some indian rosewoods works awesome, i got a spanish classical guitar made this way... let's see how's it going! At the moment i got a plan of a Martin ukelele who looks like yours...
Thanks again for your nice words, Per! I really like these simple old tunes. I think for this kind of music, it was usual to play and work with it, and make your own interpretation. :-) (Of course I messed the playing up a bit, as usual...) Best Regards Wilfried

I love your music so much. I bought the ebooks. I saw you mentioned your instrument is handmade. Could you tell me who made it? Would it be possible to buy an instrument like this.
Thank you. This is a Glyph soprano ukulele. Unfortunately, the builder (Dave Means) ceased building ukuleles due health issues many years ago. In my opinion the brand of an instrument is not that important. I have several affordable (and a few really cheap) ukuleles that are fantastic players IMHO, and I'm using them regularly even for recording videos. Of course these are good instruments. But what I want to say: You don't necessarily have to pay big money in order to get a great ukulele. Learn to judge the instruments, to work on the setup, to use the right strings, to get the intonation right, to and how to play with a good tone. Visit some ukulele meetings/festival, check out some different shops, and eventually you'll find a fantastic instrument for a very reasonable price. Why is it that complicated? It's not about the money, it's about the efforts you put into it. There is a huge spread in quality, and it's somewhat impossible just to recommend a brand and be sure every single ukulele will be great. But now and then it happens that I find a great ukulele that just needs a bit of care. Some of those instruments were amazingly cheap too.

Wunderbar gespielt!!

Superb! Great work Wilried.

Thank you Mario! There's so much beautiful early music out there, isn't it?
Thanks. Indeed the tone of the Glyph is very full and conplex. A wonderful instrument :)
Love it, renaissance music on uke rocks! Such a beautiful sounding little instrument too.
Superb! Just so beautifully performed.
Very beautiful. I can see a jongleur traveling along with a small instrument like this, can't you?
Thanks. Ukuleles surely are travel friendly :)
Would LOVE to hear this as a trio with a Ocarina and a Tambourine...
Wonderful music, wonderfully played!!!
Wieder mal sehr schön gespielt. Gefällt mir.
Wilfried, it's Beautiful!!

I love the way you make this Uke ring!
Thank you! The Glyph is really great for this kind of music!
hermosa pieza renacentista

einfach wunderbar!!

I love your uke and its sound, i'll make one like this one!
Very well! Good luck with this project! :)

Super!
Danke, Stephen!
Thank you, Helena! Yes, it was a so different world -- however we have to be honest, probably it wasn't that much better as today ;)
Danke, da spricht die Begeisterung... Schade daß Dave keine Ukulelen mehr baut.
Great !
Thank you so much! I've got your pdf e-book. That's amazing!
Thanks, you're welcome!
Thanks!
Dankeschön!
Haha such a thick neck for just four strings!-you can surely fit double courses on the 3 thicker strings. Nice sound!
Geil gespielt.
Thank you, too! :-)
Thanks. I inted to make an e-book which contains this tune (and some more).

Vielen Dank, Annette! Man tut was man kannt. Bin eigentlich nicht zufrieden mit der Aufnahme... (wie immer ;) )

Thanks! :)
Marvelously beautiful! Who made your uke, it sounds wonderfully warm and clear as a bell.✨✨✨
Thanks for your nice words! :-)
Dankeschön! :)
Vielen Dank, Goschi! :-)
Thanks. Yes, I have to confirm that. :)
Thanks, Dougal! I'm working on a new e-book which will also contain tabs for this piece.
Best Regards
Wilfried
