Hello! May I know how's the competition like in bza? Do most students enter having experience in coding/maths/business or do many enter blind? And are there enough ML mods to secure a data science job? Heard from various sources that most data science careers require post grad degrees
Hey! There's definitely a good mix of experienced and inexperienced people but for me I was surrounded with mostly people who were fresh out of A-levels (or any other pre-U education) or the army (Singaporean men have to serve a mandatory 2-year national service), so you could say we all entered blind? Still, wouldn't be surprised if these same people had *some* coding background (maybe an online course they tried) that made them even choose the major to begin with. I would think that graduating from an NUS data science or business analytics degree would be enough to land you a job in the field. Then again, I'm not the most credible source- if anyone more knowledgeable stumbles upon this do correct me if I'm wrong/add to this!
There's not just Computing and Business Analytics, there's also like Information Systems as well, which is directly about designing and building software and systems without hardcore CS theory; content is directly related to IT industry. If I were someone scared of abstract theories from Computer Science and Mathematics but wanna do software development, I'd likely consider Information Systems!
I would suggest you to sign up for student helper to help out the NUS open house, so that you can explain to the ppl abt the computing course. Hahaha 😂
Having friends to discuss with helps a lot! But of course inevitably you’d still have to sacrifice a lot of time to learn the material. It’s a steep learning curve!
Hi what are some common jobs that BZA graduates take on? Especially those that specialized in financial analytics... I’m thinking of either specializing in finance at BA or financial analytics in BZA
Off the top of my head I think of someone I know who specialised in financial analytics and became an associate for GIC! For any role in finance though I’d say self-learning, experience and connections matter a lot. Sorry for the late response! But maybe you can share what you’d like to pursue after graduation and we can work backwards 🙂
Hi Xing Wei, can I still get in to Business Analytics if I come from a almost pure science background in my A lvls (bio, math, chem and psychology) ? (Cuz when I see the pre-requisite for BZA it only needs A lvls math, not even further maths) I have already applied to nus !! Hope that I get my first choice (BZA) 🍓💓
Hey there! I’m assuming you want to understand more regarding the international application procedure. You can check out this video I made a while back! th-cam.com/video/lNNODDhAx7o/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps!
@@XingWei tqqsm ...my father he asked abt the procedure for MS ..bt don't mind he didn't get to the point clear ly ..I just completed my graduation and planning to do MS in NUS. let me know the procedures for applying

Omg, 0:25 low key sounds like those movie scenes of "Last advising words for the future tomb raiders before my communication being cut off" 😂

Hey are all the comments here actually from NUS students with their real names as their display names? O_O
IS is definitely an amazing option!
