Hey, pulled out my old Xbox 360 today, got a pretty high end vga crt recently and realise the 360 can output RGB over VGA cable so got the cable and tried it out today only to find the same issue that you were having, it took me a while to work out that was the issue but once I stripped the xbox down a process of ilmination had me trying it without the faceplate plugged in and guess what that was the issue. So just order a new ribbon cable for 5 bucks and this video will come in very handy. Many thanks for you hard work all those years ago and am sure it will continue to be refered to as time goes by.
I just ripped it out and didnt even get a new cable I just turn it on with a controller. Eject button still works if you're wondering but, technically just keep it broken and itll work perfectly. Thanks my dude, still super helpful 10 years later.
@@earts1224 Totally bro, just follow the tutorial up until he says the ribbon is completely off (2:50) and from there reassemble the xbox plug it back in and you're good to go, try turning it on with a controller, I used a wireless one. (obviously the manual on/off button doesnt work, but its better than nothing) hope this helps you brooo
I have a 360 E that randomly ejects and closes the tray. Would a bad ribbon cable cause that? I've tore it down and repasted and cleaned everything, nothings broken.
My xbox 360 looks slim ta 4 gb opening the tray alone took in the assistance and they said they have to swap the card and told me that 230 would be real they cleaned me this card but still the guy that I return I would ask if I could remove it so I can to open the control?
Hey help: Soo what if you bought a new brick and your Xbox still keeps dinging DINGING to shut off it doesn't like before but what I see it does is it won't eject the disc when it does make the noise? Could it be the Xbox wire behind the faceplate problem
Yea if u dont wanna deal with it u can use the controler as long as your system isnt doing anything stupid like opening or turning off and on by itself. Its easy to tell if the cable is broken because ur tray wont open or close on command and the xbox may power itself off and on. What is ur xbox doing to make u think something is wrong?
Yea man I saw the comment that you posted, thank you SO much. For now i've just taken the whole ribbon out and it works just turning it on with the controller
someone please I'm not sure but I think I need a new rf module like I tried to reattach the ribbon and like it makes the on sound and keeps going and like it stop someone please help
hey man , you know alot of people are having problems with their 360 slims shutting off like yours and NOW MINE , so your telling me the damn face plate ribbon is the friggen cause ? mine beebs and does not respond and shuts off after a few seconds to minutes like yours . i bought 3 of them ribbon flex cables hoping it will fix it gonna find out soon when they arrive . in the mean time you really need to change the TITLE of this video to - how to fix xbox 360 slim shutting off issue .
Holy shit thank you so much for this video. Thanks to your video I realized that I was putting the cable on wrong and now my Xbox is back to working order thank you my friend.
By the way you can just take it off. You just won't have the touch sensitive feature. You just have to use your controller to turn it on. I'm doing this until my new one ships in.
my problem is that if the xbox is turned of it will just randomly turn on and when the xbox is on it wont turn of but the disk tray will open and close every 1-2 minutes so im just going to disconnect the ribbon and hope that will fix the xbox turning on by itself
@KarlMarxforpresident lol first make sure the case is connected properly and all the screws are in place, next make sure the two grey side pieces are on the right way. The top one that has the hole for the hard drive lines up with the hole in the xbox. The bottom part has one side with a notch make sure its facing the front of ur system. Then put the faceplate on
i wish you would make a video of taking the faceplate off. Yeah there are plenty of videos out there of everyone doing it wrong and we need to see it done right. Thanks.
Hold the dashboard button for a few seconds and it should give you the option to either turn the console off, and you have to dashboard and use just hit Y, simple as that
@knighthawk92 Im sorry to say Im not sure theres other issues the system can have I fixed one where it kept opening and closing and I needed a new disc drive. Im sorry I cant be of much help but I would say try the flex cable first. All you need to do to see if its the flex cable acting up is take the system apart and pull the cable out from the xbox and turn it on(make sure you controller is synced) using the controller and see if it still opens on its own.
@KarlMarxforpresident oh shit this is for the slim lol. Sorry bout that. With the slim you have to attch the faceplate with the top part of the shell before the bottom shell goes on. So take the bottom half of the shell off then attch the faceplate
Can someone help me, I have a similar problem but not to the extent were it turns off, but it does the eject sound randomly when it is shut off, but it doesn't power the system on, it just plays the sound, I hope it wasn't damaged, I opened the console today and something felt weird about opening it today, and sure enough I was right, if someone has a fix or something please explain, I have also noticed the eject button is now very sensitive to heat, just exhaling on it plays the sound!
and the other reason why is dosnt for is because when its apart the touch isnt that good because tbhats how they made the xbox so just put it back to =gether and hook it up a best as you can then finish
Thanks for the info I'm having problems with mine it does the same thing I took it apart and cleaned it and plugged it ba k up it did the same thing but I hope this helps
Great video! I've been having trouble with my xbox slim and maybe you can halp me out figure out what's wrong with it. One day it just didn't turn on at all, I tried using the control, bought a new brick and tried almost everything I've seen on youtube. I checked all the pins on the usb ports and opened the console to try and turn it on without the faceplate and nothing worked, although when I tried this I felt it was really hot. Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks
OMG dude i fucking love you my shit fell off and i thot i mess it up but nope i flip it the wrong way when i was cleaning the 360 i love you man thank you god bless
Getting that mf ribbon off is a complete pain in the ass harder than taking the Xbox apart itself, that little latch will not come lose and up for the life of me

Thank you for this video! My Power Eject Button Switch Flex Cable Connector is coming in on the 7th. Can't wait to play gears
I just ripped it out and didnt even get a new cable I just turn it on with a controller. Eject button still works if you're wondering but, technically just keep it broken and itll work perfectly. Thanks my dude, still super helpful 10 years later.
Bro can you teach me how did you do it?
@@earts1224 Totally bro, just follow the tutorial up until he says the ribbon is completely off (2:50) and from there reassemble the xbox plug it back in and you're good to go, try turning it on with a controller, I used a wireless one. does the sync button still work?
@@STGPancake69 just tried it and it's responsive👌
Does this fix the "beeping on power button but won't turn on/no green light" issue?
mine xbox 360 works fine just turns on by itsself with this fix the issue???
I have a 360 E that randomly ejects and closes the tray. Would a bad ribbon cable cause that? I've tore it down and repasted and cleaned everything, nothings broken.
Worked like a charm. I used 2 small drops of superglue to put the little bar back on. I think it should be there for support.
What if you have a limited edition console that makes different noises when you turn it on and off
do you know how to take the power button off so that i could paint it with out painting the chrome button
Thanks, this absolutely worked for me. Xbox no longer turns off.
no problem!
My xbox 360 looks slim ta 4 gb opening the tray alone took in the assistance and they said they have to swap the card and told me that 230 would be real they cleaned me this card but still the guy that I return I would ask if I could remove it so I can to open the control?
@blackmarble18 ok well when i press the power button it makes the "ping" noise but wont turn on any idea. Thanks for the help
Is there anything else to it other than removing the ribbon? Because now my xbox won't stop dinging.
@krazykidluke if it doesn't look broken i would say u have to take it apart to put it back on...does the try still open and close?
Hey help: Soo what if you bought a new brick and your Xbox still keeps dinging DINGING to shut off it doesn't like before but what I see it does is it won't eject the disc when it does make the noise? Could it be the Xbox wire behind the faceplate problem
my xbox wont even turn on, and i just bought a new power board and switched it out... Do you think i need to get a new ribbon cable?
its up to u if you dont feel confidant fixing it dont, you could make it worse
honestly I think you can just unplug it, It will be a hassle at times but should work
Yea if u dont wanna deal with it u can use the controler as long as your system isnt doing anything stupid like opening or turning off and on by itself. Yea man I saw the comment that you posted, thank you SO much. For now i've just taken the whole ribbon out and it works just turning it on with the controller
what if you just take it out and don't replace it will it still turn on but only with the control?
actually you dont need a new cable you just simply open the white tab push it in as much as you can and then close the tab and it should work
It didn't worked on my Xbox apparently I have a problem on where the flex ribbon connects to
but can you still open the tray i guess in the menu right?
So I didn't mean to unplug mine is it broken !
@KillfeedOMG if u cant turn it on using the joystick its not the ribbon
someone please I'm not sure but I think I need a new rf module like I tried to reattach the ribbon and like it makes the on sound and keeps going and like it stop someone please help

As with the orther comments,I just disconnected the white connector, and put it back to together,no more pinging off.🙂

I dont see a option to open it once the disk is in just play cd or play game

Una pregunta, ¿cambia el flex, o solo le da mantenimiento?
El cambio el flex por lo que tengo entendido pero también si prefieres puedes limpiarlo y ponerlo devuelta.
