Many years ago, I saw my bride walk up the aisle to the sound of the ouverture... precious! Thank you for playing this. (It was a much slower rendition... if the hr-Sinfonieorchester had been playing, she would be running! haha! But I really like this version!)
Eine von allen Registern getragene glänzende Darbietung. Ein großes Lob gebührt dabei auch den Tontechnikern, den Klang so voll und gleichzeitig detailliert digital zur Geltung zu bringen.

I don't recall piccolo trumpets being mentioned in the original manuscript, or trumpets at all for that matter. So why bother with the harpsichord? Sounds good but it's a mishmash of anachronisms.

Ce n'est pas tant les instruments de musique (d'époque baroque ou ère moderne) que la manière de d'interpréter cette œuvre à la manière d'une symphonie.
Ce n'est pas parce que cette œuvre était pour un roi qu'elle doit être d'une pompe ennuyeuse.
Bourrée, Paix, Réjouissances etc font terriblement musique de chambre, tout ça fait diablement compassé, mou et convenu.
Être musicien baroqueux c'est comme être un peintre impressionniste, il faut sortir du château pour goûter le plein air vivifiant.

The original performance of this "Royal Fireworks Music" was necessarily intended by the composer (and the organizers of the OUTDOOR event, d'uh) to be given by a MASSIVE orchestra (including 24 oboes, 9 bassoons, 3 contrabassoons, etc.) of mostly winds and brass, doubled discreetly by a few strings, barely audible in an outdoor [particularly in those days of no technical or electronic amplification] performance anyway, so the original commentator's lament that the "Blech" instruments are too loud or prominent makes absolutely ZERO sense...!
