Great buy! I have i guess the european 2702. Bought it very cheap with missing armature. This is a great table saw. Most parts are used in 2704. I am still waiting for the armature. The stator is the same for the all three table saws i mentioned, even for the LS1040 with also 1650watt. I bought the armature from LS1040 and hope it will fit. Measured it and all should be good! I love this table saw! Gonna integrate it into workbench with the router. And will use bigger blades 255mm. For that, you need to cut the aluminum table to go trough. No need to do anything inside for fitting. Do the zero clearance and then enjoy the cutting with the great table saw! Edit: LS 1040 Armature does not fit! Just tested it on 2702.
hi i have a makita 2708 i am looking for a miter gauge what size does that one take the width and thickness if you could let me know what yours measures i would appriciate
I have same saw but an older model, went to turn it on one day and it just wouldnt turn on, any feedback. Cleaned out motor and checked wireing and was all good but still wont turn on
Good question. I don't pretend to be an expert on this, but a couple other things to check. Maybe the switch is bad. Is there a way you can directly apply power to the motor to test the motor. The motor itself could actually have a short or broken in some other capacity.
Weirdy Beardy Workshop Im greener than grass into woodworking but alone saw maintenance Im not too sure about directly applying power but the wire leaving the switch to the motor could be unwired and hooked up to another switch or just a cord with plug it could it not to test motor to see if its toast? What exactly do you mean a short inside motor is that in the wiring to switch and motor or in wiring from the switch to wall?
No sure if you got this fixed, but be sure to check the brushes they might be worn out. Also check for sawdust in the motor. Other then that that you might have a bearing issue.
@@WeirdyBeardyWorkshop thank you. but how did you get the blade back into alignment? do you use a table saw sled? . i notice the "rails" are not common to what i have at Rockler or woodcraft. any suggestions?
Might be a long shot this late in the game, but do you happen to have links from where you ordered the handles from? I happened to find this exact table saw at a garage sale, and am looking to make the handle easier to raise the blade.
The handles seem to break quick. I had the knob model and definitely prefer the older one with the knob. They were made better back then. When they began using lots of plastic the tool went down hill. My building suppliers no longer carry any makita saws due to the cheapness of the plastic models.
@@WeirdyBeardyWorkshop you got a great deal. I use mine daily on the job and have owned it since 07. Model 2703. Can you please tell me how you got the pin out of the blade adjustment handle? Brut force and a nail set or is there a proper tool?
If you are not familiar with these old Makita models, they were quality products that cost about twice as much as the competing compact saws back in the day. There are no bell-and-whistles, but tuned up they are quite accurate. I do fine cabinet work with mine with no problem. You can still get parts for them in 2023. At $70 it was a STEAL. I would not trade my 2703 for a new, compact saw of another brand.
Just bought my second 2708 11/94 To go with the 2708 11/87 I bought when I was twenty; still going strong. Rousou table and portability can’t be beat. Have batt. Table saw just cannot enjoy it as much.

I have used it many times already and am super happy with it!

Likely the switch or power cord. I’ve had a few Makita saws and replaced these parts and handles on all. These things tend to go first.
have ya made a cross cut sled for this Makita table saw. I have the same one.
I have not yet, but that would be an interesting project, thanks for the suggestion!

Kyle G I ordered from mmtoolparts.com. It took 3 weeks with no notifications so that was a little frustrating but they did have everything I needed.
Great find & fix up ! 👍
Can't wait to put it to use on some projects!
You’re luck you get the hand crank model in North America. Elsewhere it is a door knob that you have to turn to adjust the blade height.
I didn't know there was a difference. I guess I got lucky.

@@KristenFitz21 I ended up making my own crank handle that is strong and makes quick work of going up and down
$70 for a table saw is an amazing deal!
Yes, still a great buy, use it quite a bit!

@@KristenFitz21 For me the handle was already broken so I just pulled it out with a set of pliers, I would think a nail or a pin punch would work.

Thank you for the reply, it's great to know I got a steal and how these were perceived back when they first went on the market!

Hope you have a respirator now. Always take into account. You only have one body. Great video though, thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for watching, and commenting. I do have a respirator now, and am much better about using it.
