Hi Massoud! Where did you get the softitart module? I ordered one from Germany but it seems to be too strong which lets the makita start up very very slowly.

I got it from eBay here in UK. I've been looking for it for years but no one had it untill I found a supplier on eBay.

Seems this module is a little hard to find in the US. I'm just hoping that after the time it will take to get, it will be compatible with 120v and 15a.

Here in UK, It took me a few years till I found a supplier selling it on eBay. I'm not sure about the 120v.

Somehow I don't understand the need for Softstart on the Makita MLT100. I've had it for over 4 years now and it has almost no jerk when the engine starts and revs pretty smoothly. The Metabo KGS 254 miter saw has quite a large current surge and I gave it a slow start there and it's great. But in my opinion, the Makita MLT100 saw does not need it. But that's just my opinion after many years of use.

In some countries Makita MLT100 comes already fitted with soft start but in my case here in UK the saw doesn't come with one so the saw starts with a very loud bang which might not be as obvious in the video.

For anyone in the US looking to do this, be careful because these modules may not be compatible with 120v. From my research they will likely work, but a word to the wise. The amps drawn at 120v are different than at 240v by far.

Not all modules are dual voltage. Those that are, can handle anywhere from 12A-16A @220V and 25A to 32A @120V depending on how good their heat sink is and how they are installed to dissipate heat (inside the switch box or elsewhere for better airflow). Given that most job site saws in the US are rated 15A the "surgery" is pretty much safe.
