Ah, my favorite era of LEGO ^^. I think LEGO Island came out around this time too, which was the big spark that got me into LEGO. The city stuff of this era is just so cute, I love it! Lucky me, they re-used a lot of those parts in the upcoming years so I have many parts from this era in my collection. That reminds me, I should build one of those trucks with the 5 stud wide back part. Too bad this was just before the "dark ages", because right after this I started getting most of my sets as a child, and I still don't have any use for a lot of the big specialized pieces, you know the single piece huge car bases and all that.
Oh Man I Still have This After All these years, I time to time read and look at all these cool and unique designs. Pure NOSTALGIA Jang of All the Years I have been collecting :) Personally though; I Have to Admit that the Space and Aquazone Underwater were not my favorites I like the idea of what they were. Now However; Town/City, Castle, Pirates and Especially Western were and still My favorites to this very day within the different eras and Always will be :) I Loved At the Very End The Combinations of the themes that in my opinion was Genius. I Wish they did A Western Page that would've been perfect. Thanks Again as Always Buddy :)
I wasn't really into LEGO back in 1997. Although that's probably because I was only a year old at the time. Either way though I really liked all the builds in that book, my favorites being the Town stuff at the beginning and that Space Pirate Sub-Ship thing in the back.
I sure miss u Jang!!! Your RC channel was the best "hands down". Nothing will ever fill the void left in My heart for URC!!! I am glad things are going well for you!
This reminds me that I had a ton of lego magazines from when I was a kid ranging from like 98 to 2010. I ended up throwing them all away during a move years ago. Wish I would have kept them, or at least donated them to someone who would have appreciated it.
When you looked at the previous Idea book from 1990, it reminded me that I owned this one from 1997, and I really hoped you'd review a copy. Sure enough, here it is! So much nostalgia. I would stare at that one city page forever... there's so much detail.
As strange as the Lego sets from the very late 90s/early 2000s were, I grew up with those. Jack Stone will always hold a special place in my heart. Also i can't sell them anyway because no one wants them. :P
Man, I miss old hinges - can't say I ever had one wear out on me and they were so, so much neater to loo at and smoother in operation. The ratcheted type so often cause the hinge to detach from the sub assembly
It's awesome how nowadays fans can actually try and get their ideas excepted into new sets and that LEGO is listening to customers more about what sets to make
Since your talking about 90s legos you got me thing about how I have 15 tubs full of legos from then and now that each take two people to Cary I should start my own lego city and I know how heavy the tubs are because I just moved last month to be honest I wish I could get rid of some of these logos because I want to make room and get started collecting and displaying matchbox cars and hot wheels
I remember I had this idea book. And it was great but was sad that there was so few building instructions. Would have liked to build the "petrol truck".
They called it in die 1997s Aquasharks in Germany.. I Didn't know the Name of the Yellow Ones. I feeld my Childhood, but i was a Big fan of Lego City..

I still have a copy of this book! This really inspired me when I was a kid.
This...this was my idea book. The hours I spent studying every detail of the dioramas, inventing stories for every minifig. Pure bliss.
