But now I think all notes are printed in India and only currency papers are imported and not the printing services. And Pakistan currency is also done by DeLaRue they say. I could be wrong but I've heard the likes of Swamy and other Economists talk about it in great depth. So yes demonetisation killed the money leak to Pakistan

De La Rue plc is a British company headquartered in Basingstoke, England. This company got the contract to supply currency printing material to India from 2012 till Dec 2015 after ban was lifted off by then Finance minister P. Chidambaram. The same company used to supply the same material to Pakistan as well...

I saw this in a documentary. You need special machines ,ink and paper. It also needs specific kind of printing bricks( kind of like moulds) to print the notes. Earlier India was buying everything the same firm that pakistan was buying those things from. Also printing bricks of Indian currency was provided to them by someone from govt( might be chidambaram cause he went to jail and was also the finance minister in UPA era).

That's what I learned back in my banking coaching classes. The fabric of the cotton itself is quite different that's why the touch can tell if you're holding a fake one plus every currency print requires a certain charge itself. This is why we just can't inject too much liquid currencies in our system. It is only going to decrease the value of our Indian Rupee.

CBDC is Central Bank issued digital currency. It is a digital currency issued and maintained by the RBI directly. Zero creation, transport and security cost, no possibility of counterfeiting. It will even allow offline usage to some extent.

The truth is that , there needs to be more security feature in our Currency. Let me tell you one thing very clearly, as I have worked in this field i know one thing currency which used to come before 2017 was so realistic that you could pass a few fake notes in a bundle of notes. But it isn't possible anymore they try to put the new currency printed currency in markets on ground but wouldn't work in atm or banks.

Yes, people dont actually know how currency is printed. Its a huge, labourous and time consuming process. Once I saw a documentary on it on Discovery many years ago. They showed how a $100 bill is printed. The 1st work is not paper or ink but it starts with an artist who etches the benjamin franklin image onto a glass piece and then things pick up from there. And btw when Abhijit sir said cotton is used he's 100% right. In fact not just any cotton but denim grade cotton is used. Have u ever seen a note tearing into pieces when its drenched? No, right. In order for the note to be water-resistant they use the cotton. So please educate yourself before making such comments. Neither Abhijit sir nor anyone will run away. You dont have to comment the moment you see something. You can always go back, fact check things and come back and comment.

Maybe these commenters will be shocked to know previously the notes were made from two thin layers of sheet which were infused with silver thread inbetween. However, now along with advanced infusion, we have embossing and hallowing done so that we have those additional points of security which we look to verify authenticity of currency note.👍
One UK based company used to manufacture the Security Thread for both Indian & Pakistani Rupees. The machine used to print the Intaglio letters on our currency was built by the same Italian firm that supplied the machine for Pakistan. Does the youth of India realise what that means?

Incredible....you don't even need to know the technical aspects of how currency is printed. Just observing the sequence of events from the demonetization till date should give a fair idea of the impact ita has had.
A doubt, although, demonization for 500 and 1000 may have impeded their counterfeiting process, they can still use the same existing mechanism for other denominations which were.nor declared illegal tender, as in 100, 50, 20 and 10. But I do think there is a possibility that operating costs might exceed if they print notes with lesser denominations. Please shed your light on this. Will be grateful.

The new Indian currency notes are much more difficult to counterfeit. Security details (known and secret) prevent them from just using just a printer. Of course, that won’t keep people from trying. A counterfeit note doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to be good enough to fool the seller. The secret security features are actually what enables the RBI to detect fake notes, no matter how good they are.

That's what I learned back in my banking coaching classes. The fabric of the cotton itself is quite different that's why the touch can tell if you're holding a fake one plus every currency print requires a certain charge itself. This is why we just can't inject too much liquid currencies in our system. It is only going to decrease the value of our Indian Rupee.

CBDC is Central Bank issued digital currency. It is a digital currency issued and maintained by the RBI directly. Zero creation, transport and security cost, no possibility of counterfeiting. It will even allow offline usage to some extent.

Let me tell you one thing very clearly, as I have worked in this field i know one thing currency which used to come before 2017 was so realistic that you could pass a few fake notes in a bundle of notes. But it isn't possible anymore they try to put the new currency printed currency in markets on ground but wouldn't work in atm or banks.

It's not just a fabric thing, currencies are way more complex thing and it can't be copy without the access of codes, watermark etc.
Currency printing machines are sold by few companies, only to countries. Read this, during the 80s , one middle eastern country printed billions of dollars and circulated it. Good as the orginal.
Demonetisation also brought laying black cash into banks.

Yes, people dont actually know how currency is printed. Its a huge, labourous and time consuming process. Once I saw a documentary on it on Discovery many years ago. They showed how a $100 bill is printed. The 1st work is not paper or ink but it starts with an artist who etches the benjamin franklin image onto a glass piece and then things pick up from there. And btw when Abhijit sir said cotton is used he's 100% right. In fact not just any cotton but denim grade cotton is used. Have u ever seen a note tearing into pieces when its drenched? No, right. In order for the note to be water-resistant they use the cotton. So please educate yourself before making such comments. Neither Abhijit sir nor anyone will run away. You dont have to comment the moment you see something. You can always go back, fact check things and come back and comment.

Maybe these commenters will be shocked to know previously the notes were made from two thin layers of sheet which were infused with silver thread inbetween. However, now along with advanced infusion, we have embossing and hallowing done so that we have those additional points of security which we look to verify authenticity of currency note.👍

One UK based company used to manufacture the Security Thread for both Indian & Pakistani Rupees.
The machine used to print the Intaglio letters on our currency was built by the same Italian firm that supplied the machine for Pakistan.

Sir just one question. In previous times we have seen 500 and 1000 rupees gone through a change as well, until 2016. So did Pakistan have ability to print all variants of 500, 1000 rupees notes even when they changed in the past? How were they able to print new 500,1000 rupees notes time and time again but not anymore after 2016? Incredible....you don't even need to know the technical aspects of how currency is printed. Just observing the sequence of events from the demonetization till date should give a fair idea of the impact ita has had.
A doubt, although, demonization for 500 and 1000 may have impeded their counterfeiting process, they can still use the same existing mechanism for other denominations which were.nor declared illegal tender, as in 100, 50, 20 and 10. But I do think there is a possibility that operating costs might exceed if they print notes with lesser denominations. Please shed your light on this. Will be grateful.

The new Indian currency notes are much more difficult to counterfeit. Security details (known and secret) prevent them from just using just a printer. Of course, that won’t keep people from trying. A counterfeit note doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to be good enough to fool the seller. The secret security features are actually what enables the RBI to detect fake notes, no matter how good they are.
