  • It's been said, "It's always darkest before the dawn." On the heels of a dark period in Jacob's life, the Lord works in his heart to bring about revival. As we dive into our text, we'll see that while Jacob lingered far away from God for a time, he renews his commitment to the God of second chances.
This teaching is from our series Genesis - 2009 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

Genesis 36: genealogy of Esau/Edom. Obadiah is about the pronouncement against Edom (portion of Jordan).

I suffered for many decades. We changed our diet to carnivore, then ketovoire and back to carnivore.
No sugar, no gluten & no salicylate & oxalates. We now have no psoriasis and it fixed many other maladies. God bless you on your journey.

Jacob was a good man . He is one of our forefathers. You have to learn the Torah and also the original language, the bible was written, Hebrew, so you will know and understand who Jacob really is.

Pastor Skip didn't say it, so I'm going to ask, because I think it's something Pastor Skip probably WOULD say. Maybe my exegesis skills are getting better as I listen to these teachings and take careful notes.
So, Deborah dies in Genesis 35:8. If there's one thing I've learned from these teachings, it's that there is nothing irrelevant in the Bible. EVERYTHING is there for a purpose. I thought it was weird at first because the only women that the Bible mentions dying are the patriarch's wives for the most part, so it seemed weird that Moses is all of a sudden telling us that Rebekah's nurse died when Deborah hasn't been in the story at all until now, and then the subject quickly changes.
But it doesn't change, does it? Deborah was Jacob's mother's nurse. Jacob's parents were dead. He'd left his brother behind. Deborah was all he had left of his "old life", so to speak. I think Moses tells us that Deborah died to signify Jacob's maturity and it's basically his "coming-of-spiritual-age" story. Deborah was the end-all, be-all for Jacob and the only thing left for him to do was grow up.
Or am I way off base? Haha.

Maybe, or them taking care of family, that includes nurses, servants. Even before the law, the people who followed God, had that sense of morality about them. And their culture to do so. 🤷‍♀️🙏
