Yeah, so many clickbait channels who do nothing but complain. And I mean nothing. They don't build, or paint, or play on their channels, they just put up images from websites on the screen while they screech about how Games Workshop just made the mistake that will ruin the company, and it ends up they are retiring an old model or something.

@@SpoonyBard88 ROFL, there was one 'content creator' who I got in an argument with, who was literally saying the exact opposite of what was contained in a GW financial report which comes to my phone... I could not believe what an absolute load of nonsense he was talking... even as a guy new to the hobby, I could easily tell what was stuff he'd made up for clicks.
Cannot wait for Games Workshop to go bankrupt as he seems to say in every one of his poxy videos... they're only 40-50 years old by this point, and the founders are 'knighted' (Livingstone is a genius, I'd say) in Great Britain... but that creator suuuuure knew better! 😹

    Reasons to collect Orks:
    1. You can play Gorkamorka.
    2. Refer to 1.
    3. The Orks are only limited by ones imagination.
Orks are one of the most conversion friendly armies for beginners.
As for painting - don't like how one mobs colour scheme turned out? That's okay, that mob is simply part of another warband that turn up for your waaagh.
    4. Did I mention Gorkamorka?
    5. Aftermarket bits galore (adding to how conversion friendly Orks are.)
You may not win all the games playing Orks, however you can have plenty of fun attempting some tactically dumb stuff.
    Also - GORKAMORKA!!!! WAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!!

Back when I started 40k in the dark past times of 1998, it was the Eldar Falcon model that got me in the hobby. It's a perfectly designed model (the model itself, not necessarily the kit, mind you), because it was (and still is!) the epitome and the trailblazer of the Eldar aesthetic. The fact that this model came out in 1997 and still holds up to this very day 24 years later without being out of place speaks volumes about the quality of Jes Goodwin's work. Heck, Forge World even re-designed their super-heavy Scorpion and Cobra tanks to better match the Falcon's aggressive, elegant, and timeless silhouette. It may not be the go-to unit for the Craftworlds now, but I love this model to death, and there is no other GW kit that I've built and painted more of over the years (at least 10 overall).

I know your pain when it comes to shiny metals. I am building models planes and tried alot of products.
If you want really shiny metallics you should always use a gloss primer, like enamel or alclad gloss base laqcuer (gloss spray can might work too). Alclads are actually really good metallics, but those are lacquers, so nasty fumes, a thinner that will eat through plastic if primed wrong, every scratch, every speck of dust, every rough sanding mark will be visible, need a gloss coat after, but damn those are shiny. The easy way - molotow liquid chrome, get the refill bottle (markers are ok too if you need to draw a blade or a hydraulic piston in one go) it could be airbrushed if thinned with alcohol (tamiya and mrColor lacquer thinners are said to be good too, I never had them tested), but again - gloss coat over.
Mission Models have acrylic gloss base and chrome paint, that could be polished.
From my experience it is more about the surface preparation rather than paint itself. Also gloss coat is like a must, especially if using chipping medium

Vallejo Metal Color is what you're looking for. Its acrylic, thin, and goes on super smooth straight out of the pot. One coat over a black basecoat is all you need. Exhaust Manifold is really close to Leadbelcher.
The only downside is if you're used to regular acrylic paints this stuff flows almost too well. You have to use only the smallest bit on your brush or it will flow into every recess and get everywhere.

I wouldn't say that GW hates all Xenos. Necrons got a lot of love over the last year+. As for copper paints (Near and dear to my heart! Just look at all that copper on my Necron army!) I like Citadel Screaming Bell for use on models with copper bits. As you know, my CSM army all have copper rims on their bases but I don't use Screaming Bell for those- seems like a waste of good paint. For the rims, I use Folk Art Copper. Its cheap and takes two or sometimes three laps around the base to get a good coat but when its done, the copper color is very nice and I can save my better, more expensive paint for the models themselves.

The model that sold me on my army was the metal penitent engine back in the day. Seeing that the humans in 40k were so awful to each other made playing as the humans in a sci-fi setting much more interesting! So once the plastic Adepta Sororitas came out, it was a no-brainer to choose them and go heavy on ecclesiarchy models as my first 40k army.

Remember to stick a row of speakers behind the orc guitarist when you build your rig. There's probably a plethora of companies that would sell them. Or the speakers could be 3D printed. Also, the guitarist needs a plume of flame coming out the end. I know for a fact Anvil Industries sells those.
As for other models, while it's not Orks, have you considered creating a rival biker gang using _Squats?_ The old Squat bikers will probably be difficult to find and might have less than stellar sculpts, but Ramshackle Games has a range of resin dwarf bikers. (Not to mention a wealth of Orks and Ork conversion bits.)
For rules, I'd suggest running the Squats as an Imperial Guard army. The bikers can act at Rough Riders (it's not like you'll be entering a 3rd party Squat army in any official tournaments). Pad out the troops choices with some Mantic Games or Wargames Atlantic space dwarf infantry. Or just build the bikers, and run them in Open Play against the Orks.

Started painting five of those models in June of this year and just finished painting them tonight. I've still got like 80 more assembled Orks to paint in addition to a bunch of unassembled ones yet to go, but I've mostly had fun building and painting what I have already done.

Vallejo metal color is some of the best acrylic metals I've used. Vince Venturella turned me onto them. The gold and coppers are very limited but overall the line is amazing.

The pro acryl metallic range has been serving me well recently, also look into metal alchemy by scale75

I love the range of shades that Metal N Alchemy has, but I find them a bit temperamental to work with. But that might just be me.

    • @muffinlord3168
      @muffinlord3168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Totema1 ive never used them myself thats why i said look into them, anyway metal n alchemy range has loads of cool colours like purple and blue and green metallics so they would be the main draw, i would probably continue to use pro acryl for generic colours

I love how GW won't actually be able to replace old Craftworld models with new different units, since by design the lore doesn't allow for renamed and 'different' Aspect Warriors.
If they do then it does confirm that GW doesn't care for their own lore.

Vallejo metal color is awesome. I have copper and silver and its so much better than any other metallic paint ive tried. Its thin but covers in one coat I highly recommend it
Edit; Pro Acryl metallics are pretty good too. Not as thin as VMC but nice coverage

That shot of the original eldar guardian boxed set gave me a real kick in the nostalgia. I used to have those, along with a bunch of aspect warriors. They were lovely sculpts for their time, and so cheap in comparison to today's prices... Ah, simpler times...
