I’ve had a Garmin tactix for a couple of years now, I’m rough on equipment and this watch is very durable, has everything I want. It’s not cheap bud I’d still give it 5 stars
Does it need the cloud to work correctly? I'm looking for a new watch as my suunto cloud infrastructure was decommission and a lot of stuff no longer works. The Suunto was a great watch apart from the cloud crap.
I have been using the new Garmin Tactix 7 Pro and I love it. I use to be a G-Shock fan but after buying Tactix 7 Pro, i never going to need any other watch. It has all the features i need and I don’t have to charge it daily. I wore it 24/7 and only charge for couple of minutes when I want to take it out of my wrist. I even wore it to sleep as it’s able to record my sleep pattern. It’s pricey but it’s all worth it. It’s a beast.
This watch is fantastic. Love the ballistic calculator. Surprisingly accurate. I pointed the guys in my training group towards your website. I hope they use it.
My Timex Ironman works for me! 100 meter water resistance, two time zones, lap times and multiple alarms for $38. After three years it's still going strong. I also have the Luminox Sentry and think my next watch will be the G shock mudmaster, though I will give Garmin a look. I like simple, I'm not a major tech person. Wore a Timex when I did my tour overseas with the 3rd Mar Div. It survived everything, jungle warfare training, mountain warfare school, Jungle survival training and everything else we did as an 0311.
Been wearing the Garmin Epix 2 for the past 6 weeks and never looked back. It's a high-end 2022 model like your Tactix, minus the aviation features but *plus* an AMOLED face that cuts the battery life to 16 days (vs. 37 for the Tactix) but my God the color and clarity is off the charts with twice as many pixels as the non-AMOLED products from Garmin. All my Casio G-shocks (and a Citizen or 2) are headed for eBay right now, just don't wear them anymore... in fact I never seem to take this Garmin watch off! My sleep and workouts have improved with the "fitness coach" on the wrist. White titanium sapphire for the win!
Not in the market right now but the watch looks cool. Just here to support and share your channel. Enjoy that new born! Nothing like it in the world. God bless.
Tactix has no DLC coating (Delta did) beacause when you scratch DLC there is no way to polish it back whereas with the bare titanium it oxidases naturaly so the scratches are less and less visible.
I have a Garmin and it’s very nice. Mine is older. I really like the looks of the one that you have. I have been looking for your videos. I haven’t seen one since your birthday. I hope that you had a great time. Have a great weekend.
In the past I've been super critical of "tactical" watches - heavy, expensive, lots of buttons to catch on stuff, steel reinforced bands that will rip your wrist off, etc. BUT, this is the first one that seems to have enough useable features to justify it's existence.
Got that one with the pro balistix. FRIGGIN AMAZING. Feels like the first time I got a smart phone. Complete game changer. I love new gear and kit item reviews. Keep it coming. Liked, shared, and subscribed. Semper Fi DevilDog
Can it connect to a Kestrel? It implies it can connect to a weather meter and range finder. I have the Bushnell that connects to a Kestrel. It would be cool if tactix 7 - Pro Ballistics Edition connects to both.
Is the strap from Garmin called Tactical Nylon Coyote tan? If not, can you share where to buy it and which one strap is that exactly. Thanks in advance!
Great Job Jack! You may have costed me more money lmao! I have an older Garmin Taxtics love it! But the fact of the touch screen is a Huge Plus for me! God Bless!
I have a Casio. It's light, accurate, waterproof up to 50m, you can throw it across the room with zero damage and its very cheap to buy( probably about $20 in the states).
Same I have Casio G-Shock, it's literally been through the roughest shit still not a scratch, i've accidentally scraped it across rough concrete walls and just wiped it off and there were no scratches, $17 bucks and has night mode, alarms, programmed countries and cities with synced timezones so if you know you're going somewhere that has a different time zone you can easily switch to theirs. I had a friend that had some expensive GPS watch he lost it in the restroom someone stole it I think he said it was several hundred $$
@@diedfrombored5295 it’s on the wish list for sure, but I have higher priority items ahead of it. Fancy watches come after ammo and training. My Casio and tedious land nav will get me by until then. But someday. Dear Santa…
@@CutlassOutdoors I would have rather have my Casio and $1000 than the Garmin. If both watches where offered to me and they were both the same price, then I would go for the Garmin. I couldn't tell you until I had worn one for the day if I would keep it as my casio is so lite and comfortable that I hardly know I'm wearing it. If the Garmin was as comfortable then that would be a keeper. Unfortunately the price point is a big issue for me and I would rather spend that extra money elsewhere. There isn't a right answer, just the best option for the individual.
Using the 7 with InReach is such a good pairing. When I am in the mountains with no phone signal I use it to check in with my wife, without taking my pack off. Though I wish incident detection worked through inReach. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t yet?
You say it's good for pairing with InReach, did you have to pair it to an InReach device in order to work or did the watch work standalone with the InReach subscription?
I watched this videos because I am thinking about putting that strap on my Garmin Instinct 2X. Have you ever had any issues with the QuickFit mechanism? It seems like it could be a potential fail point
I absolutely love Garmins design of the Fenix, Epix, & Tactix. I think they are the most beautiful watch design ever made but with everything that's going on I don't know that we'll be able to charge a smart watch whenever we want. Things may go very bad very soon & in that case I'm relying on my Gshock.
Update firmware 13.22 : Garmin has changed the backlight behavior : " The new backlight behavior is the intended result for the v13.22 software update. For example - the backlight will turn on when: - Acquiring GPS to start an outdoor activity or when acquiring GPS to save a location waypoint. - Viewing the Map whether by itself as a feature or within an activity. - Going into the Sunrise & Sunset glance and viewing the Sun position menu on the map." the behavior described above has been introduced by Garmin with update to 13.22, and can NOT be disabled by the user ! The switching on of the lighting in the above mentioned cases is inevitable and can NOT be deactivated by the user. This is also confirmed by Garmin. With this, Garmin has made this actually tactical watch unusable for the military, because there is no option to disable this. I look at the map in the field and give away my position by the light. Life threatening. The problem is discussed in the forum, and Garmin's statement: "This backlight behavior is intentional and we have no plans to change it.
Hello I have question regarding ABC widget. Are you able to set units (feet or meters) in altimeter? In mine Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Im not able to set units in ABC widget. Its possible to set only via System-Format-Units. If I want to change units in altimeter via ABC widget its not possible. I remember in the previous model Tactix Delta it was possible to change units of Altimeter via ABC widget.
Hopefully it's better than the Garmin instinct that was featured here last year. Bought the Garmin Instinct and returned it within 2 months because I had to reset the watch almost weekly by the end of the first month.
I’m a truck driver and get rewards points at pilot and flying j and the sell the Garmin diesel for $399. So hoping to use rewards points and get a diesel and try and trade it in towards this watch lol

Yes, the price increases between Charlie, Delta, and 7 are staggering. But tbh didn’t stop me. I tried a Fenix but the battery life wasn’t anywhere near as good. It’s also lighter and more comfortable than the Delta (but obv huge). Some of my colleagues are using the Instinct 2 Solar Tactical which is also excellent, and has many of the same features and is a fraction of the cost.
