University of Tennessee took on Virginia Tech Saturday night, September 10th, in the second week of college football for the Battle at Bristol. Jennifer Nettles started the game off with a beautiful version of the National Anthem that left everyone with chills.

I agree my dad is 74 served in the Army , my uncle Korea and Vietnam , my grandfather WW2 Normandy , Never liked her till I heard her sing this gives me chills . Lets hope the new is better Happy thanksgiving and Merry Christmas .

As I watch this I am remembering 9/10/2007. Our son was home for two weeks before deployment. On this last day we attended the Bengals Monday Night Football. I still cry every time I hear our National Anthem. To see him stand and salute while it played. This was the last time I saw my son. 11 days later he was killed by a drunk driver. He gave so many special and everlasting memories. That one is infinitely more special to me. To hear this so beautifully preformed… I got chills and of course tears when they panned to the young man saluting. We still have proud Americans who live for the freedoms so many died for.

I love when singers sing the Anthem the way it's supposed to be sung...Like this one. Well done. Gives me the chills. Too many think that they are allowed to make this Anthem their own, but it's will never be theirs, so don't try. SING IT AS INTENDED and don't be self indulgent.
Ive watched all the versions. This is the greatest version for sure. No moving the notes around ..sung like it was written ..perfect ❤❤❤
She did a good job, but Whitney owns it. Whitney was the first and to my knowledge the only version that made billboards top 100 and was released as a single and sold more than a million copies. My sister is a history teacher and uses her version when she teaches on the national anthem.

Thank you Jennifer for reminding us of the true spirit of the US. I'll never forget the descendent of a Finnish man, whose grandfather was an immigrant to the US, giving an acceptance speech at an award ceremony in which he told us that his ancestors came to the US with nothing but, given the opportunity to work and better themselves, they prospered and, acknowledging this, he proudly and tearfully proclaimed "God Bless America".
I learned several years ago that she has one of the best singing voices God has bestowed on a human being!

Girlfriend got some pipes. A hard song to sing well and she did it flawlessly with a full resonant voice and pitch correct throughout, even though she's singing acapella .Probably the best I've heard.

I thought Whitney Houstons rendition in 1991 at Superbowl XXV was great as well. She had some pipes. I think Jennifer nailed it. Such a wonderful enjoyable voice.

Strange as I am I really only listened to male country singers because I could sing to them. I know weird. But the female voices that's becoming well know today are certainly a breed of their own. There is absolutely nobody like Jennifer Nettles. She can sing any genre with any artist and make it sound like they’ve been working together for years. Taking a knee during the national anthem as an honorable form of protest was initially suggested by a veteran. Every veteran I know fought for all the Freedoms that Constitution provides and that includes protesting. The better question is why America recently turned sporting events into forced shows of patriotism. It wasn’t always this way. “Protesting is good, but only if you do it in the way we like” is not America. And, when they took a knee, y’all freaked out and said this was a national disgrace. When they took to the streets in anger over being murdered without thought, y’all freaked out and said they should be more peaceful. At the end of the day, you won’t be happy with any way they decide to protest, and you need to think on that.
You are completely missing the point. My father was in the military for 40 yrs. Every minute was spent defending the right we have in the US to take a knee in protest at a sporting event, during the national anthem, or any other place for that matter. That right our soldiers fight for, every day, is as American as it gets!
