How about the Compass or Renegade TRAILHAWK trim models?? I thought the trailhawk trim enabled putting the transmission into Neutral with Active Drive II.
From what we've found, neither the Compass nor the Renegade can be flat towed, regardless of the trim level. What specific model year are you speaking of? Knowing that would allow us to look into it a bit further for you.
@etrailer thank you for your response!! I am looking at 2016-2019 used. I am pretty sure the jeep cherokee trailhawk and the jeep Grand cherokee trailhawk can each be flat towed. While looking at used cars, I noticed that there was a trailhawk trim for compass and renegade - that's why I asked.
Okay, the 2016-2019 Renegade Trailhawk is only towable on a trailer. It can't be flat or dolly towed. The 2016 and 2017 Compass Trailhawk appears to be flat towable ONLY if it has a manual transmission. They don't differentiate between FWD and 4WD in the owner's manual, so you might want to confirm that with your Jeep dealer. Otherwise, it'll need to be towed on a trailer as well. Hope that helps!
They cannot, according to the owner's manual. The FWD models can be towed using a tow dolly like the Demco # DM9713045, but AWD models need to be trailered. www.etrailer.com/Trailers/Demco/DM9713045.html
It sure can. Not only does it vary by generation, but manufacturers have been known to make driveline changes mid-generation. The best practice is to check your owner's manual and check out the recreational, dinghy or flat towing section where the manufacturer will spell out whether the vehicle is capable of being flat towed or not.
@@etrailer So what you are saying is that I go out and buy a jeep then I can read the manual to see if I can tow it? What if I want to find what vehicle and what years can I buy that are proven to be Flat towed .
NUTS! I am in love with the Jeep Compass - tightest SUV I have ever driven. But thank you for the concise answer.
You're very welcome, sorry it wasn't what you wanted to hear, though...
Excellent update. Thank
Our pleasure!

Per the owner's manual, it can be flat towed only if it has the 2 speed transfer case. Otherwise, it'll need to be trailered.
