I don't think he was complaining about that? If you are not used to hear such languages, the tones may surprise you, but I think itcwas more that, than a dislike. For me? Belle Perez did a good job and her interpretation is wonderful but did not come close to Lara's from the famous concert. But Karsu? Painfully beautiful and excellent! Haunting, heartbreaking and hyper-emotional (for a reason). I'm impressed.
How is it possible that this show isn't famous yet in America? So many English songs on this show that are so well executed. And I suspect you have only seen a fraction of all the amazing songs on this show. So much to discover. Thanks for giving it the attention it deserves.
Probably because Americans tend to be more competitive and it would turn into a competition. The beauty of this show is that this isn't a competition at all. Just some professional singers of different genres showing their respect to each other by giving them a "present" in the shape of a personal song, whether it's a song of the other artist themselves or another song with special meanings to them. There is no voting, no elimination, no final trophy to win. This is how it is, nothing more nothing less. But I get the idea that that would be very boring for American tv where competition is life, when this isn't competitive at all.
Some useful information on why Karsu has this amazing fire in this song, she literally was at that stage in life that is the exact subject of this song, her own relationship of many years had ended not too long before recording of this season. Her part being re-written in Turkish adds to that fire for me, and together with Belle she performed her heart out and let every emotion flow from her body, she's amazing. As you said, this is one of THOSE songs, a song only a handful of people can sing with the passion that is needed for it to really come to life.. but Karsu has that passion, what an artist!! (PS yes, Belle needs praises too, she did an outstanding job too, when she goes power vocals... she can raise castles to the ground! ....weird expression btw, raising something to the ground.... ah well..) (oh and on Duets night, anything goes, everybody has had their spotlight, its the last episode of the season and they get to have fun with duets, doing songs they want to perform)
The last episode is the duet episode... you don't sing for another singer but with each other. Everyone picks someone who they want to sing with and a song that means a lot for them. And as some already said this song was personal for karsu. She just came out of a ten year relationship and this was exactly what she felt. That is also why she stands there like that cause of al the feelings coming back. She is an amazing singer love her so much especially in english. She has a lot of english jazz songs

Karsu sang her part special made for her by an Turkish friend. I saw it on Dutch TV and tears were rolling down my cheaks and I don't understand the tekst but felt every word. Please listen to Belle singing for Anneke and Anneke singing for Belle, Karsu and all the others 😉

Karsu was singing and crying at the same time. She just ended a very long relationship with a guy. And this song exactly was about how she felt. So, hat off, that must have been extremely difficult. Belle was in this case the stabiliser in the duet, I think otherwise it would have derailed because of Karsu's suffering. The last episode of the season is duets. You can choose anything you like in the last episode. The other episodes songs are sung from a list that all singers have to make and to choose from for the others. It does not have to be own repertoire. Also songs that were important in a singer's life are allowed. And you said it is a competition, no it is not a competition. The only "competitive" thing is that at the end of an episode the one in the chair has to say which song made the most impression (not the best performance necessarily). As for recommendation, I would go for Karsu again in this same TV show, "hirjo de la luna" Karsu singing for Belle Perez.
great reaction man i am a fan of anneke van giersbergen she did a great job in the show but i have to be honest karsu i couldn't do it yet was a bit of a surprise of the show!
such a sick song... i like more the original version even if I am Turkish and love Karsu. She is incredibly successfull woman, we proud of her. I just believe words/letters have sound. When we translate to another language it changes the song's vibe/soul. Chinese, Turkish, Arabic , German, French, etc. Perfection comes with combination of composition and lyrics/word's vibe. So I haven't listen any transleted piece better than original one since now. But Karsu sings soulful again as always. She is an artist who own song, feel and makes us feel.

this is from the duets episode than everyone pickes a song they like to sing with one of the others this was ( i think ) Karsu's choice and she picked Belle because she is in my opinion the biggest fan of Belle i have ever seen this song is about someone who was in a relation and who is still feeling sick about it when it is over the Turkish part was writen by a friend of Karsu together with her ( i believe ) and it is about her own relation that resently broke up that is why she was so emotional and she needed the support of Belle to be able to sing it , she cryed when it was done in the arms of Belle

I love Karsu, but to be honest I didn't really like Belle in this. Don't get me wrong, she has an amazing voice, but she is performing a song, while Karsu is becoming the song, living the lyrics like Lara did. I listen to Belle, but I hear and feel Karsu, if you know what I mean.
