This version has gone viral in Turkey and now the original singer, Mustafa Sandal (Karsu coverd his song and had a big hit in Turkey with it) has invited Anneke to sing it with him on his concert in Istanbul. The energy and smile of Anneke is just amazing and you can only but love her. Great reaction Tom👍 Hope you will check out the performances of Karsu too. She’s an amazing singer and performer and very versitile in style! Greetings from the netherlands👋🤟
I absolutely love this song from Anneke! Did you see the look on Karsu's face when Anneke switched to Turkish for the chorus? Anneke is special, just like Floor! The first time I heard this performances I had a very emotional reaction. I wanted it to continue for another few minutes. Loved it Tom.
You nailed it Tom, I feel exactly the same way as you watching Anneke do that, I can't take my eyes off her. The way she widens her eyes just before they rock it up sets the tone beautifully! The best performance I have seen for some time, ... if not ever! 😎🤘
Thank you for your sincere reactionTom I've been listening to Anneke for 25 years. And it's always the same magic that operates. No weariness. And here, another surprise!
I wanna give you a lot of props for doing something that’s not done usually on a TH-cam reaction channel… Not just watching the original singer in action, but recommending her to your audience. Usually when people watch a cover, they just watch the cover. This was great. I was already a fan but I like you and respect you even more after that. KARSU has been a huge surprise for me on the show this season, and has quickly become a favorite of mine along with ANNEKE. I already liked ANNEKE a lot.
Devin Townsend calls Anneke the Metal Tinkerbell and especially in this performance I totally hear that. Anneke has that fragile flutter in her voice that just touches and captures you. And then she sings in Turkish! Is there anything she can't do? I'm not a huge fan of her recordings somehow but I've had the pleasure of seeing her live a lot and she never ever disappoints.
I absolutely love this song, but I keep watching this video over and over because I love the way you look at Anneke. So sweet to see that look on your face. Every woman deserves a man looking at her the way you look at Anneke :-)
@@Ago468 No, I'm a Turkish person and I totally understood what she meant. And her pronunciation is not that off. The letter " Ç " or " Ş ", can be difficult for some people, but she got the gist of the it and pronounced it as best as she could.
Well said Tom, you describe exactly my feelings when seeing this for the first time. Of course seeing how beautifully Karsu is affected helps us enjoy this rendition even more! 🤗
benbermusics I was way more affected by the beauty of Anneke. Her beautiful voice, blond hair and blue eyes. And her lovely smile!!! But it was nice to see that Karsu enjoyed her performance of her song. Karsu is Dutch but with Turkish parents. It is telling that Anneke did her the honour of singing parts in Turkish becasue even third generation Turkish people in The Netherlands still raise their children in Turkish and speak Turkish not Dutch among themselves.
@@hansolo2121 I'm Dutch myself 😉 I fail to catch the logic in what you write. Karsu is a star and sings mostly but certainly not only in Turkish. It is not really telling but respectful that she brings the chorus in Turkish. I don’t think you can make generalised statements about 3rd generation Turkish immigrant children. Funny to see Dutch in Canada in the 50s keep talking in Dutch while their children talk in English. In Australia likewise.
@@benbermusics I am Dutch as well and what you say is BS. Actually Dutch are the ones to immediately learn to speak and actually speak amongst themselves the language of the country the are immigrant in. I absolutely loved this performance. If I may recommend, this week's performance of Anneke was such a tear jerker. Think you should check out the song too. It's a wonderful one. Look up: White Roses by Anneke van Giersbergen Since there seem no full episodes available with English subs, I'll give you the background because it has such a beautiful, sad story behind it. So Joe Buck, the original songwriter, wrote this as a way of showing love and respect to his parents, for what they've been through. They lost their first son at birth, he was a stillborn (not exactly sure of the term, but he passed away at birth). This was very difficult for his parents, but in the end they got Joe and his 2 older sisters as well. But it's still a difficult thing to miss. Each year, his mum buys white roses, as a way to remember their first son, Joe's brother and show their love for him. For Joe it's the ultimate example of love. And that got translated into the song White Roses. Absolutely love Anneke's performance. Far from metal, but so extremely heartfelt and emotional. Curious to hear your feelings about it.
Hi Tom I think you should do Anneke singing this week. The song is called White Roses it's kind of a sad song. I agree I LOVE her smile and she could also be a stand up comedian.
