    If you had a little taller tire you can cruise at a lower rpm. I'm looking at getting a 94 hijet van 5spd 4wd and throwing 14s on it so it's not cruising at high rpms.

      yeah 13/14s make a big difference, but they also kill the top speed

    How do you tell what ‘S’ model it is? Like is there certain years that are S100? What ‘S’ would a 1993 Daihatsu Hijet 4x4 be?

    • @Waybeforethefame

      S is part of the chassis code. S100=RWD/S100=4WD

    What's the solution to my steering wheel vibrating at 85kmh? 92 Honda acty street van

    • @Waybeforethefame
      @Waybeforethefame  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i would say check your tie rods & your tire set up. could be a couple things

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jack the vehicle so the tire is off the ground. Grab tire at left and right and shake. Grab wheel at top and bottom and shake. Rotate the tire and repeat. If you feel wobble left and right but not up and down, it's probably a tie rod. If you feel wobble up and down but not left and right, it's probably ball joints. If you feel wobble in all directions, it's probably wheel bearings. If there is no wobble, have a tire shop dynamically balance the wheels. Some home gamer in a pole barn may have installed new tires and not balanced them, or a wheel weight may have popped off. Vibration at speed is often a wheel balance problem. Other possibilities are out-of-round tires (should be detected during dynamic balancing) or loose or broken suspension components... including the rear suspension. If you have a slightly out-of-round tire or a tire with a minor defect, it's better to have that tire in the rear. A marginal rear tire will have less adverse impact on ride quality. Also, if a rear tire failed catastrophically, it's not nearly as dangerous as a front tire blowout.

I do like the Sambar because the motor is in the rear, less heat in the cab, same for the Honda. I live 20 minutes away from Patterson, so I plan to visit Boeki, see what they have.

      @@Waybeforethefame - 4WD, 5 speed, HI/LOW transfer case, only 43,000 miles and looks to be in great shape to be 26 years old. I wanted a locking differential and A/C, but I'm kinda glad I didn't get A/C because the radiator hangs down a bit for off road use and an old radiator is difficult to maintain and may not have much life left. Kei trucks keep it simple.
      I paid for the Hijet over five weeks ago and it's still sitting in Yokohama. Once it ships, it'll be another month on the ocean, then I'll have bureaucratic hassles and government bribes (fees) to get it out of the port and more hassles getting my local DMV to register a 26 year old Japanese right hand drive vehicle so I can pay more taxes and drive it on the road. I can definitely see why the $370 Hijet that I paid $2000 to ship costs $10K and up in the US. I saw a kei truck sell for $24,000 on Bring A Trailer a couple of weeks ago. That's just nuts. It was nice, but nowhere near $24K nice.
      My Hijet will probably arrive in December, when it's too late to work on it, so it'll probably be a spring project instead of a fall project as I intended.
