No hate on the AT. IMO, as long as its not a CVT reliability shouldn't be an issue. I have a Sambar so.... yeah.... I'm getting used to shifting left handed.
That's probably similar to or even the same as the electronically-controlled transmission on older Hijets. I believe the power button just controls when the shifts happen, so once you're in 3rd gear there shouldn't be much of a difference after that point. Also, FYI if it's the Hijet one, the solenoids and controller are no longer available. A non-functional power button is a sign of a bad controller.
It really NEEDs a 4th gear. Back in the old days many American cars were 3 speeds, but the gearing was more spread out to allow for higher speeds without the engine working so hard.
The kei-truxk needs an extra gear or.overdrive , if not as they are so underpowered for Motorways / highways just change for a bigger carburettor & different manifold etc.. Over here hardly anyone drives Autos particularly when learning..
I've gotten B truck plates in the past and on the Minicab I'm getting expanded use antique plates. Just getting a title for the Hijet though since I'm selling it
On a side note, I'm also working with my congresswoman to HOPEFULLY get some kei truck legislation passed similar to North Carolina's to remove all of the mixed results people have when they take import papers into the DMV. (The way to do it right now is to pick up the paperwork at the dmv and mail it in yourself)

I live in IL and wondering how you got the truck B plates. Was it just getting lucky or are there extra steps?
