I appreciate the comparison. I have been using the 28-70mm for wedding and event work for over a year. I have the 35mm most of the time as my second kit with 2 R6’s. This has been a perfect set up. I have the 85 1.2 however I rarely use it wide open. I prioritize sharpness over bokeh. The 28-70mm is the sharpest rf lens I own. It my heavy favorite. And I do mean heavy.
@@eotceotc because the 85 f1.2 is objectively sharper than the 85 f2 when stopped down and has better bokeh still. There are other factors in play. Just because a lens has a fast aperture doesn't mean you should always shoot it at that aperture. Wide apertures like 1.2 are just for more flexibility. It's great to have if the lighting sucks too.
Thanks for the video. I am very fortunate to own both the 50mm f1.2 and the 28-70mm f2. They are not the same in terms of image quality at 50mm though. The 28-70mm is not as sharp, but the trade off is the versatility it brings to shoot just one body. Add the 85mm f1.2 quality and that blows away the 28-70 on image quality too. The issue is the 50mm and 85mm are so sharp and flawless that as good as the 28-70mm is, you would never choose it for portraits over the primes if you had the option. The shallower depth of field gives such a nicer look aside from the quality advantage.
I got RF50mm 1.2 and i like it so much. However, in some cases you need zoom, so now i'm considering to get RF 28-70. I need money money money is what i need:)
Love the 50mm 1.2, I rented the 28-70 and as amazing as it is I don't miss it. I do product photography but I can totally see the value in the grenade for wedding/event photos.
At an event the zoom is a necessity IMO. There is no time to change lenses 😅 Just bought a second body so I can have the best of both worlds with a zoom and prime or zoom (28-70) & zoom (70-200)
Choosing between the RF 50mm 1.2L and the RF 28-70mm 2.0L is what I call a good problem. You just can’t go wrong.
1000% agree!

Why buy the 85 1.2 for $2,800 if your not shooting wide open when you can get the 85 f2 for less than $400 if you want sharpness only
Just curious…

I find the RF 85 f1.2 far sharper than the 28-70. Are you using the older EF 85 f1.2? 🤔

Should I get rid of my 35 1.4 & 50 1.4 and get 28-70 if I achieve same result from one lens.
Great video! Thanks for doing the comparisons
Glad you liked it!

Se colocasse as fotos de cada lente lado a lado seria melhor para comparação. Mesmo assim foi bom ver que as duas lentes são ótimas. Obrigado.

For still shots I would take the 50mm always too. For movement, especially in a studio has a huge benefit!

Without a doubt!!
I have the 70-200 on my wish list for my weddings next year
Pretty interesting comparison. Thank you. On a different note.. somewhere in the video i thought it was Jessica Chastain doing the comparison:).
Can’t wait to afford a 24-70!
Its such an amazing lens!
Great Vid!!
Still waiting for outdoor comparison….

Thanks!!
I’m confused I wanted to see the differences between these two but I watched a tedious photography session
