Hey Dylan! Congratulations!🥳 You have been selected as the winner of this giveaway! Please DM me ASAP over on instagram so I can get your information and send you this NIFTYFIFTY: instagram.com/bryanadamc/
The 50mm 1.8 is such a powerhouse value. It was my first prime and even my beginning Rebel XTi days photos still hold up thanks to it. When the time came for me to spend real money on glass, I was able to add the 35mm 1.4, knowing that I could cover my 50mm needs with the 1.8.
Big fan of these comparison videos. Thank you for posting it in such a concise manner. It's always great to see how you can come into this hobby/business as a new person with cheaper equipment.
There's something about lightweight lenses though. You take them with you more easily and photograph for longer. That for me is actually a more important factor than the difference in sharpness between these two lenses tbh. If a lens weights more than 500g I'm simply not going to use it. Something for videographers to be aware of: in-camera lens corrections apply in video mode for RF lenses but not for EF lenses or other adapted lenses. There's usually not a huge difference in practice, but it's good to know.
Videos like this is why I bought the 50mm 1.8 in the first place. It's such a great lens at a reasonable price for someone getting into photography, and it works on a professional level as well.
Great video, and who doesn't love the Office intro... classic! I have the EF 85mm f/1.2 and simply love the images it produces. Thanks for sharing and reviewing these two. Great video.
Great Video. I have and LOVE my $300 16mm RF lens. After buying the crazy expensive RF 28-70 f2 lens I figured I’d buy the cheap wide prime now and update it later with a more expensive one but honestly I don’t think I’ll need to. And I am VERY picky about lenses.
I really enjoyed your honest review of the nifty 50 and the rf 50 1.2. Most reviews bash cheaper lenses with a bias opinion. You going into depth about sharpness, bokeh, and build is awesome.
Thanks for this comparison. I didn't ever owned the 1.2L, so I can't give any statement. But I really like the old non-stm version, when having the camera on any events like bbq, somebody grabs your camera to take some shots and you just don't have to worry. "yes, try it - it's fun". Best value lens.
appreciate the honesty and visual comparison of the two and values of each. Having just started the hobby, nothing more I value at this time than true explanations of the products. I certainly did not think I would be able to begin this hobby with my expectations of less can actually produce as good pictures to spending an enormous amount of money oo equipment. Sometimes bringing everything to perspective is the most advantages input to entertaining someone to the hobby. Great input and again, honesty with the visual goes a long way for us beginners. I bought a Canon t2i for $100 including a bag, battery and charger with manuals also. So happy with the price and the value!. I have recently added the nifty 50 with my equipment as I would like to do more portrait pics. This was a great example, and SO happy with the $ value I spent. I don't want to sound cheap but this choice allows me to continue and progress as an amateur and simply ENJOY the hobby.
I'm sharing a little story here So the first ef lens I bought for my Canon 80D was a YONGNUO 50mm II 😅 for 110usd and I loved it actually so I said yeah let's save some money for a 50mm prime lens and when I finally could afford it after a year and a half i only kept it for less than 2 months because I was assaulted and robbed in the street. They took my jacket my camera, tripod and lens... Anyway I refused to stop doing photography because I love it and also is work for me so I asked for a loan, bought a new camera and returned to my old cheap lens. It was all good I think until a month ago when I dropped it and now I can't use the autofocus 🥲 not a big deal when shooting portraits but definitely a problem for other purposes. Third world problems I know ✌🏼
Very nice video! The 50mm was also my first lens after the kit lens. And just as with you I fell in love with it and therefore with photography/cinematography. Will probably keep this lens for ever
Nice video. I sold my old EF 50 1.8 II to help pay for the RF 35 f1.8 and while I love both that lens and my Yongnuo RF 85 1.8, I do miss the nifty 50 as sometimes the 85 is too tight for a space but the 35 is too wide and can introduce distortion.
I appreciate the video. These type of comparison videos are always reassuring for the equipment that I use aka the nifty fifty lol but it also shows me what I can advance too aka expensive lenses like the 50mm 1.2 👍🏾👍🏾
Great video, I like the fact you didn't diss the Nifty Fifty and just pointed out the difference because at the end of the day its art and art is very subjective. I don't think any equipment, technique, style etc... is bad, I believe people just need help figuring out what will help them get their story, message or product across they way want. I think this video did just that.
I love this style of comparison. Very strong comparison for portraiture. There are 2 very big advantages to the nifty 50 in my eyes: 1. Weight and 2. Not nearly as anxiety inducing if you have accidentally break it. But honestly though the onion ring bokeh is a little too much for me. Also, this video doesn’t touch on the light transmission but that 1.2 vs. 1.8 can make all of the difference in the world when shooting indoors or late in the evening.
Been watching a lot of videos about lenses and cameras. Been a dream to get one for myself since I was a kid. Thanks a lot for comparing showing the pictures side to side. This is what I want. I appreciate your work. Good going brother:)
Hiya, you should compare nifty fifty but RF one! As back glass element is closer to sensor and pictures are more sharp, and comparison would be even more accurate!
great video sir. it is always a good little reality check to see that as a beginner or intermediate photographer, the most expensive gear isn't always the best solution.
Thank you so much for this comprehensive review. Looking forward to future comparisons maybe 24-70's for Canon. ( I have a very an old Tamron 24-70mm 2,8 VC)
I'm just getting started in photography. Bought my very first camera and I ONLY have the niftyfifty. I would love to get the rf 50mm so I could take my photos to the next level🔥🔥 Great content, man.
Great video! I had the original nifty and it’s just fun! Sometimes carrying around a cheap kit, you don’t really care about scratching it or getting it stolen!
When I first got into photography, I really didn’t understand the hype around the Canon 50mm, but oh boy do I get it now. I do not own a niftyfifty, principally because I am still a teen, but can’t wait to witness the low f-stop. PS. Your intro is a banger dude. Hats off
Thanks for the comparison. I'm just starting photography and I've heard good things about the 'nifty-fifty' lens for protriats, and that every photographer should have.
The Nifty Fifty was the first lens I bought for my Canon SL2 but I soon learned that it becomes a nifty 80 when you factor in the 1.6 crop. It wasn't until I moved up to the R that I finally understood how great this lens is. I got tired of having to use the adapter so I bought the RF 50 1.8 for $200. Way better and I can now really appreciate the 50. I also own the RF 15-35 which is my favorite lens but pricey! Nice comparison that shows you don't have to sell a kidney to get great affordable glass.
Great video! Super helpful content for me being new to photography. Excited to buy my first ever camera Canon M50 Mark II & can’t wait to implement all that I am learning here on TH-cam. 👍🏼
Here is something nice...... I actually found your channel recently because of your body transformation video. Your transformation is amazing. Honestly, I found the most benefit from how you showed you use the apple watch for tracking your total calorie burn for the day. I've had the watch for years and have used it to log workouts but I did to know that it could track my calories burned for the day. Now I use that every day...Thank you. I also recently got into photography and bout the Canon M50 Mark II so I would love the lens . Either way...thanks and have a great day
I actually prefer the nifty 50's bokeh over the RF. If we're being honest if we're really looking at price the nifty 50 provides way better value. Lovely video by the way
Good video!! I've been on that roller coaster ))) The final and practical thought to consider, in almost any situation, is the final purpose of what you're doing. Do you really need the best and most expesive gear for you goal?! Better "quality" usually comes with great respnsibility such as price, weight, size, difficulty of nailing the focus, slow speed. I end up with the collection of expensive and cheap gear and cheap ones I use much more frequently. F/1.2 is such niche, delicate thing that you want to use it on a special occasion.
I Love the videos,New to photograph scene, having so much fun on my cannon 500d,only have a 55mm lens that came with the camera,I would love a 50mm lens/“Nifty fifty” for the new experience.🎉
I discovered your channel about a year ago and honestly glad I did because I watch your videos quite a bit along with my other favorite creators like Peter Mckinnon and Matti Hajoopa
Love this video!!! I love the perspective of the 50mm. I love the way it can be used in various situations versus the 35mm which I love as well. Thanks for the video cant wait to see more!!
Awesome comparison and great video the EF nifty just wowed me Amazing! 😍. I really would have love another comparison between the RF nifty 50 and the RF 1.2L
I really enjoyed this video and it was perfect timing as I was trying to figure if the RF 50mm lens was worth it for the price. Thank you!
Hey Dylan! Congratulations!🥳 You have been selected as the winner of this giveaway! Please DM me ASAP over on instagram so I can get your information and send you this NIFTYFIFTY: instagram.com/bryanadamc/

Congratulations. Dylan on winning the Nifty50...
I love the fact that you also show us the full picture in editing so we can see every aspect of it!
Really loved this video. Never would think to make this comparison so it ws really interesting.
Nothing against the adapter and the adapted lenses.
But why not just using the RF 50mm 1.8STM?
The 50mm 1.8 is such a powerhouse value. It was my first prime and even my beginning Rebel XTi days photos still hold up thanks to it. When the time came for me to spend real money on glass, I was able to add the 35mm 1.4, knowing that I could cover my 50mm needs with the 1.8.
I'm very new to photography and I love the comparison of the lenses in this video!
This channel is an awesome mix of two things i love, keep the work up.
I appreciate how chill and informative your videos are. Makes for easy listening.
hey that means a lot! thanks!
Thank you for doing this video! I just recently got the Canon EOS R and am trying to figure out which lens to get first. This review helped so much!
I love watching your videos. It makes me think that i have something more to show in my photos. I learned a lot and its beyond my expectation. ♥

By far one the best comparison on TH-cam 👌👌👌waiting for more contain form you
Such a inspiration to people with low budgets! Some people may not have the money to buy a expensive lens! Love it
Love this video!!! Cannot believe the nifty fifty is actually comparable!! ❤️❤️❤️
thanks bug! you crushed it in all these shots too😍😍😍

glad this helped you out! cheers!
Indeed, it was an excellent comparison. Super useful.

Thanks for the comparison, I'm thinking about buying a mirrorles canon camera and this type of videos solve many of my doubts.
Nice video i understand all points
And your talk king style is super.♥️

Great video, and who doesn't love the Office intro... classic! I have the EF 85mm f/1.2 and simply love the images it produces. Thanks for sharing and reviewing these two. Great video.
Just getting started on my photography journey and I learned alot just by tapping in! Thank you for the informative content!
I enjoyed the "fresh take" on the Nifty-Fifty comparisons. Very detailed commentary, great work.
Love the vid! Thanks! Reminding me to not always think that i need the best and most expensive lenses 🙏🏼 Thanks!
Just found your channel! Love the way you explain things. So helpful!

The 50mm is my favorite focal length for a prime lens. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
I personally like the RF bokeh. It separates subject and background better, more subtle and not interfering with subject.
I’m still an infant in photography (less than an year old), and I’ve heard so much about the nifty-fifty and your comparison is fantastic. Thank you!
I’ve been stumbling along through years of guessing. You just made a whole lot of sense to me and saved me a ton of money!!
I really enjoyed your honest review of the nifty 50 and the rf 50 1.2. Most reviews bash cheaper lenses with a bias opinion. You going into depth about sharpness, bokeh, and build is awesome.

You can’t go wrong with a 50mm. It all depends if you want 1.8 or 1.2 either way you can great results.
Very nice video! The 50mm was also my first lens after the kit lens. And just as with you I fell in love with it and therefore with photography/cinematography. Will probably keep this lens for ever
loved the video, great comparison. Was thinking of picking up one(50mm 1.8) my self, but would love to receive extras! 😉

This video really proves that the person using the tool is the most important thing. Great job!
The plastic fantastic is referring to the first 2 versions of the 50 1.8 which have plastic mounts. The new STM version has a metal mount
Great video, great colors, composition, lights and music on point
Thanks for such an in-depth yet concise review, I have only recently gotten into photography and this video was incredibly helpful!!
Great comparison video. Keep posting videos like this to help us decide with camera and gears to buy.
Awesome video, mate! The nifty fifty really shows its crazy good value here :). Cheers for helping out a newbie like myself with these videos.
Really interesting comparison! Love the sample shots you took with both lenses. Very impressive!
Love the comparison, and your studio has a nice vibe to it unlike others that are bright and colorful. Nice vibe change up. Keep it up!
Been following on IG for a long time! So good to see you having success on TH-cam!!
Love the comparison! The 50 1.8 is such a great lens! 1.2 is ofc better but for the price 1.8 is amazing
definitely agree! stoked you dig the comparison!
wow who knew the comparison was so similar between these two lenses :o
great video and great content 👏🏼
pretty wild huh?! thanks so much!!
I actually really needed a comparison! Perfect timing 🙌🏽
I love this style of comparison. Very strong comparison for portraiture.

It's unimaginable to think that the lens can be compared with the 2.5 canon. (Great job on the video.)
The mere fact that the two lenses are comparable is amazing. The good topic I love to see more content like this 👍👍📸📸
honestly though! thanks so much! appreciate that🫶🏼

Such a great comparison video! I was quite surprised how well the STM lense stands up to the RF one
Great video! I had the original nifty and it’s just fun! Sometimes carrying around a cheap kit, you don’t really care about scratching it or getting it stolen!

Thanks for the detailed comparison! That really helps when needing to make upgrade decisions on a budget!
Love your take on both lenses and how you went in-depth. Just gained a subscriber👏🏾🔥
I also fell in love with photography because of the nifty fifty! It’s crazy how this lense was the starting point for many photographers!
50mm lenses are my favorite ones also! Nice video analysis
I discovered your channel about a year ago and honestly glad I did because I watch your videos quite a bit along with my other favorite creators like Peter Mckinnon and Matti Hajoopa
really really appreciate that man! to be grouped with those dudes is saying a lot so thank you!
Enjoy your channel. Quality content. You deserve a million subs by now.
I picked this video because I wanted to learn about different lenses. This video has definitely helped me!! Thank you!!!
Great perspective on both lenses, shots are crisp 🤙
I would love to use the 50mm to help my photography, would be a set up from the kit lens
I’m just starting out in Photography so this is a great help thank you for sharing it
Love this video!!! I love the perspective of the 50mm. I love the way it can be used in various situations versus the 35mm which I love as well. Thanks for the video cant wait to see more!!
Something nice. See I follow directions. Great content!
Insane Video. Nice to See These both lenses in comparison
Awesome comparison and great video the EF nifty just wowed me Amazing! 😍. I really would have love another comparison between the RF nifty 50 and the RF 1.2L
Such a great comparison video! I'm surprised how well the $150 lens does side-by-side with the Nifty Fifty!
I'm just beginning to watch the vid. I bet the 1.8 compares fairly well and it's like 80% of the performance for 6% of the price.
