I miss those days in the 90's where you could buy one like this for a grand. We had to add a fuel substitute in 99-2000 for the valves apparently as they phased the leaded out and made it unleaded.Ahh,I miss those full bidied (bodied)leaded fumes.
They got rid of leaded gas for me in Jacksonville Florida in 1990. I was freaking out to my dad if I ruined the motor if I put unleaded in the 69 VW bus, I call it a bus cuz so many friends wanted a ride home back in high school
Wow! 61 kw and 158 nm at 2,500 rpm of pure power from the 1970cc motor. Actually the acceleration was commensurate with other 2L of the day and the 626 was a good seller. The same engine was in the heavier and feature packed 929 and that, was s-l-o-w.
At a weight of only around 1070 kgs it was peppy. Remember this was an engine released 45 years ago and it's rolling acceleration in 4th as a manual was best in class due to the relatively high torque at low rpms. @@_BYC
We had one in silver, very nice car for the money. Smooth motor, spacious back seat as there were no inner fenders visible back there. The cars sure had more smog crap than the B2000s ! Autos were a little anemic but the 5 sp was pretty peppy.
when i was a kid in the 80s our family had a second gen mazda 626 in blue. I miss that car
thats cool , they were just a to b cars back then. most got ran till they died
@@_BYC indeed, just a japanese family car. Ours was pretty reliable for its time although suffered from issues by the early 2000s.
That was my 1st car. Sat in the garage from 83 til 92 when I was 16 and started to drive. But mine was stick shift
Yes the stick would be a lot more fun. with a auto trans she is a bit slow ..
I love those cars my uncles used to put rx7 12a and 13b in these things back in the days and they would fly
We are about to do something with it like that ... the 2.0L thats in it now will hardly get out in traffic . LOL. time to make a sleeper i think !!!
Oh dang, I should have looked more at the comments. I was thinking the same thing back in the 90s when I had a 1980 RX7
That's a really nice one, love it
Glad you like it!
I always wanted a coupe and but a Mazda 13B RX7 motor in one. I used to own a 1980 RX7 in the early 90s....wish I kept that car
Yeah the coupe looks a bit better. I was thinking about doing a rotary swap on this one
great classic Mazda, and love your good ole Texas accent
the accent is FLA / KY .. lol. but ill take Texas. we will be getting back to the Mazda real soon. she needs a little pep .

Yes if we only knew what they were going to do, we could have saved more of the old cars...

Leave it original. Its a survivor. Very clean car

she was not made for speed, lol
Unless you've got an issue with compression or some other issue it should be quite peppy but with only 3 speeds, above 90 km/h, quite noisy.
the 2L only had 98H.P. new... nothing peppy about that. LOL. but its still a fun car to cruise around in

yes the auto is a dog. but its a cool car to cruise in.
Did the 1981 Mazda 626 come with a chime or a buzzer?
it has a chime.
Imam istu ovakvu kupe. Uskoro ću je srediti
The coupe is better looking then the sedan. Thanks for watching
@@_BYC Limuzina je takođe jako lepa ♥️. Hvala na ovako lepom videu
