  • New timelapse for a new painting, saw a really cool doorgunner photo the other day and I had to design a piece based on it:
    wallpapercraze....
    Sorry for the crappy errors in the video, theres a part where it shrinks for a few minutes before going back to normal, this was due to a live recording I was doing at the time. Still experimenting with a couple of features like the notes and extra floating windows panel, but they dont work out as well as I hoped.
    Going to try something else for the next one. You can view this artwork's hi resolution image at my artstation:

      @Askel V not to be rude but, there is a bullet belt. That holds bullets, with a round there is a casing+bullet when the gun fired the round the casing gets ejected, and it doesn't use caseless ammunition which seems clear. But who knows, great artwork regardless.

      @@austindeems5406 If we're talking rail guns, that could always be a sort of energy transportation piece, like a large wire, or if this is a plasma weapon it could be an insulated piece. Either way you couldn't really shoot a "Gun" in space, so it wouldn't be casings/shells. But yeah, if it were, that'd be accurate.

    • @Chernosjk

    Mass Effect music is the fucking best. Anyone got the link to the compilation he used?
    On a slight note, the whole picture still could use a bit of polish with the shadowing and lighting, in order to not make things look so flat. For example the gun on the rightmost side, there's light all over it coming from nowhere. A lot more lighting work would make the picture feel even more natural. But this is already state of the art work. Fucking amazing.

      It dose, it supports just about anything,I import my 3D sculptures into it to paint over, works great for graphic design type work as well such as vector files. Its still very condensed compared to Photoshop, but if your a starving artist such as myself it gets the job done. lol Happy painting and good luck!

    You can save yourself a lot of headache when cutting up pixels by using the pen tool instead of lasso. Accidentally double clicking when you're 90% there is a bitch. When done with the pen you just control+click (Windows) or Cmd+click (Apple) the thumbnail of the path to get your selection. Especially nice when you need to re-select something accidentally destroyed.

    What type of system requirements would I need to pull something like this off? My program/laptop keeps crashing when I go over board with layers and texture work...alienware? More RAM or a Faster Processor? Very inspirational work Johnson, thank you for showing us how far it really can be pushed when putting your mind too it.!

    • @IIIrdOff
      @IIIrdOff 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      More ram means that u can have bigger resolution and more layers at once. Because, you know, bigger PSD needs more ram to load. In my expirience (and Im nowhere near as good as Johnson), you need atleast 16 GB of ram for this kind of work (but I usually have A LOT of layers, because I like to work nondestructive). Faster proccesor means faster responce. Again if you have a lot of layers with big resolution PS starts to lag a lot, and even zooming and paning can be laggy. But you can workaround that by hiding layers that you dont work at the time, or using smart objects. Also activating GPU helps. Or you can use just a couple of layers merging what you already did.

      I think 12G ram is enough for doing a piece like this. I've got an ~8 year old system and I know I could work on images that are similar in detail to Johnson's stuff (nowhere near as good though). I can work on images at 5000x8000 resolutions without any lag as long as I don't have a ton of other software running. Flipping images might take a couple of seconds and I can't fuck around with a large smudge/clone stamp- tool but other than that, I'm good.

    • @stevenrogers2310
