I got my Addiiesdive "Sumo" two days ago. I was a bit scare since my wrist circumference is 6.5 inch and this watch is a beast. However Seiko designers are kind of wizards and all in all one is able to handle it. I didn't have misalignment issues with the bezel but the bezel action was really poor at the same level of my Casio Duro. On the contrary, lume never reached the level of my Addiiesdive captain Willard although I really like it's bluish tone. It's just a good lume but not outstanding. I agree on your general assessment regarding this piece. If you like big watches this watch will not disappoint. I love particularly all those transitions at the front and on the sides watch case. Another appealing feature it's the way the bezel goes partially into the watch case. I really recommend the Addiiesdive homage version of Seiko MM 300. This piece is a real gem and I reckon they deliver much higher quality in it than with Sumo version. Captain Willard, MM300 and Sumo homage versions are superb values Addiiesdive pieces on overall. It is a great watch, all things considered, and that lume is just amazing. Love the transitional edges on the case too, shame about the misalignment. At least my Willard is absolutely perfect!
Excellent review 👏. Nice looking watch. Just had the yellow dial Steeldive tuna on the yellow rubber strap (real rubber!) delivered last week and it's stunning. The quality surprised me more than I expected. Can't take it off! First time I had comments on a watch I'm wearing, and plenty of them. Might be worth a review if you haven't done one. I do like this one too. I got that zulu strap with the Addies pilot watch. Btw, the Bond NATO is black and grey!
Thanks Brian! The newer bond NATO is black and grey, but the original was actually black green and red in Goldfinger. Bit of trivia, the old film cameras in dark lighting conditions had trouble picking up the colours 🤫
Great review, thanks. I've got the Whale Shark dial which is amazing. The bracelet made the watch way too bulky for my wrist and the lug gap was too annoying on any rubber strap I've tried. I finally just put it on a single pass nato and I think that's the way to go. It's turned into one of my favorites
I love that whale shark dial, that looks class! That wasn't out when I bought this one, but I probably would have stumped for the green anyways, as I hadn't got a green watch at the time. Lug gap is so frustrating! But on the NATO/marine Nationale, that's not an issue. Cheers for watching!
Hi buddy, any chance you could review the manta ray version of this watch, it looks gorgeous on aliexpress site, but I'm just not sure about the dial quality. Hope they release an homage of the 42mm version of this watch, that's the one I'm looking for.

I bought a genuine Seiko Sumo a few years back and never liked it. For the price I paid it felt jangly and cheap and also had misalignment issues. The bezel insert was aluminium. I just felt ripped off and wanted my money back so I flipped it and got almost what I paid for it back. Seiko are not good value for money watches anymore. Their prices are ridiculous. This is why there is a huge homage market now, and embarrasingly for Seiko a lot of them are showing them how it is done.
TBF the Chapter Ring and Bezel will most likely be out on the real Seiko anyway. For the money it looks like a decent watch. The Bracelet is cheap though.
That's fair, I did end up selling mine to a guy who has bought a few watches from me, John. He loves this watch, but his wrist is quite a bit bigger than mine, so suits him perfectly.
It's actually a very bright sunburst green, just the weather when I filmed outside was very grey and overcast, so no sunlight to pick that up! Check the NATO strap shots halfway through, that shows it off a bit
