@ Michael Cohen The entire song, from ," head to tail" is made of entangled" pieces" of different Romanian, NOT Jewish (!) folk songs, starting with, as called, Doina style song ( a song of sorrow, an almost crying chant...), then, a crescendo vibrant rhythm of Hora ( a Romanian folk dance music, expression of joy of life in every aspect of it)...Yes, Aaron Lebedeff put them nicely together, (I personally love it )then " paved" the resulted " song" with Yiddish words, and " spiced" everything with Romanian words in between: mamaliga, carnati, castravete... Post-WWII Romania sought to make amends, but this song lies.

Un mia amica è stata ricoverata in un ospedale in Germania, stava per vomitare perché tutto il loro cibo è a base di salsa di pomodoro bolita,senza un filo d'olio.... Lively Song, great rendition. Only one problem: it is a total lie. Romania was a terrible place for Jews to live. They've had pogroms on a regular basis for hundreds of years. And, per Yad Vashem, during WWII, "380,000 - 400,000 Jews, including the Jews of Transnistria, were murdered in Romanian-controlled areas under the dictatorship of Antonescu". Post-WWII Romania sought to make amends, but this song lies.
