I'm not seeing the generate background prompt. I followed the steps up to remove background. It looks like, from the video, that the contextual taskbar changes and has a prompt for a new background, but mine just stays the same or, if I click on the mask in the layer, prompts me to either add or subtract from the mask. How do I get the Generate Background prompt? I don't see it in the help menu either. Thanks!
Hey there! we usually recommend getting the most updated version of Photoshop. A high-performance machine with powerful processors and graphics cards, ideal for professional photo editing and design. Also keep in mind that a fast processor will improve performance, especially for demanding tasks. A fast processor will improve performance, especially for demanding tasks. Also, more RAM will allow you to run multiple programs simultaneously without slowing down (about 32GB).
Thank you for these insights they will prove valuable. Question: Have you by chance heard anything about Adobe offering an upgraded add-on service that enables us - once we have generated various of what we are seeking and found THE one - of then - instead of only give us the - frankly not even close but no cigar - "enhanced version"? That will then produce the AI variation at the same resolution as the original we were working on. I, for one, would be willing to pay a fair price for that. What we have now is, frankly disappointing and irritating.
Hi Erik! While I don't have specific information about that particular feature, I recommend reaching out to Adobe's customer support or community forums. They should be able to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information.
@phlearn Sorry I should have been more specific. I have the latest version of PS, and I don't have an option to replace background in the contextual task bar after removing the background. Love your channel. I have learnt so much over the many years that I've watched your content. Thank you.
Typically, the Generative Fill taskbar appears automatically when you select an area. If not, you can find it by going to Edit > Generative Fill. Let us know how it goes! If you need further help you can always send us an email to support and our team will do their best to guide you.
I have an image that was initially generated by Midjourney and then upscaled using Topaz Gigapixel. Here are the details of the workflow and the issue I'm encountering: Original Image Details: Dimensions: 10752 px x 7168 px Size: 441.0 MB Resolution: 300 pixels/inch Print Size: 91.03 cm x 60.69 cm I resized the image to 50 cm x 40 cm. The new pixel dimensions are 5906 px x 4724 px. The resolution remained at 300 pixels/inch. The file size changed to 159.6 MB. Export Settings: I exported the image as a JPG with the following settings: Format: JPG Quality: High Image Size: 5906 px x 4724 px Scale: 100% Resample: Bicubic Automatic Color Space: Convert to sRGB Issue After Exporting: Upon reopening the exported JPG file in Photoshop, the image size changed to: Width: 208.35 cm Height: 166.65 cm Resolution: 72 pixels/inch Dimensions: 5906 px x 4724 px File Size: 79.8 MB My question is : Why does the print size of the image change to 208.35 cm x 166.65 cm with a resolution of 72 pixels/inch when reopening the file, even though it was set to 50 cm x 40 cm at 300 pixels/inch before export? Could the upscaling process in Topaz Gigapixel affect the resolution and dimensions in a way that leads to this discrepancy? How can I ensure that the image maintains the correct print size of 50 cm x 40 cm with a resolution of 300 pixels/inch throughout the entire workflow, including after exporting and reopening the file?
Which release of Ps are you using? Does your computer system meet (or exceed) required tech specs? Do you have a Ps selection active when you're not getting gen fill to work? Sounds like you might need Adobe tech spt (online chat or phone) if your setup is okay... 💻☎️ If you're just not seeing the Contextual Taskbar, you can open that in the Window menu...click on it near bottom of menu.
@@FotomakerAcademy currently I'm using 2024 version of PS. yes the requirements of my laptop is exceed and I'm using PS without any problem but only generative fill doesn't work. I'm not familiar with ps selection active, what is this?
@@mehrshadmomen5076 Hi! As far as I'm aware you must have an active selection (in other words, you've selected an area of your image and you see "marching ants" - dashed lines that look as if they're moving) for generative fill to work. Do you see a Contextual Taskbar like in the video above? If not, go to the Window menu & click on it to make it visible. If that doesn't work, seems like you need to contact Adobe tech spt.

how do you get the 'generate background' & 'import background' buttons; I have all updated photoshop versions. But when I click remove background, the generate fill buttons turn to "subtract from mask" or "add to mask" buttons. Does anyone know?? I'm using regular photoshop not beta.
I'm new to photoshop. When I click remove background, it doesn't change to generate background, it just gives me options for changing the mask. I just downloaded it, it's not an old version. How the heck do I find the generate background option? Lol! Also, if I do manage to add a new background, what if the subject has pieces of the old background stuck to them? Like between hair strands?
I'm in the same usage situation as you. I can use Remove Background, but must activate that as a Selection then in my Contextual Taskbar type a description for an alternative background. If there are intricate elements in the foreground I typically use Select & Mask (after selecting them) for that clean up. Sometimes just getting the clean mask of the intricate element then inverting it lets me use the Remove Tool or Clone Stamp or Patch Tool for small fixes.

The one feature kind of annoying with Photoshop ai, for me at least, is when you have the exact selection you want, but Photoshop changes the selection when you do generative fill, and sometimes it messes up the image you want to keep.
1. I HATE it when the image generation Photoshop does is called AI. There is NO such thing as AI. There NEVER will be. A machine runs code written by software developers to evaluate billions of images to find the best match for your prompt. It will NEVER be able to think for itself-not in 2024, not in 99924. Period. 2. Now show me this or point me to the video showing this where she has dark curly hair and she's in a park where her background is a bunch of pine trees and PS can do it to a 100MP image instead of 1024 x 1024 pixel blocks.
Thanks for this, it should be very usefull... But as @paulstott5616 asked, is this in Beta only? The plate in the video says Photoshop, but I just updated to 25.12.0 and it isn't available. Thanks again...
@@phlearn Weird, I have the latest release, Updated last night. Doesn't do this. Installed Beta a couple of hours ago and that does. Guess I'll have to hand off back and forth until it gets straightened out. Thanks for the reply.
