    So when you drop the rack with the subframe the only thing you had to do was loosen the clamping joint from the column and it all comes down with it? Is there anything done to keep the actual rack from turning or moving? I’m doing a full over haul for boost so I wanna do it how you did as long as it’s not a task just to keep stuff aligned.

    • @bricasata
      @bricasata  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The rack is bolted to the sub frame. Just have to disconnect it from the joint. Comes down with the sub frame

      Before you take anything off. Make sure the wheels are straight. I took painters tape to hold the steering wheel in place. Just be mindful not to move anything steering wise

    Cam you replace a oil pan with put dropping the subframe ?

    • @bricasata
      @bricasata  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I remember you have to drop the subframe to get the oil pan out and reach all the bolts

  • @escondidonative2903

    Hey man how long would you say it takes to drop the subframe? And any tips for realigning it when installing it.

    • @bricasata
      @bricasata  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're familiar with taking apart the front suspension. You can drop the subframe in less than a hour.
      I use the 17mm bolts on either side of the subframe as a reference point when lining it back up. Just loosen the 17 on either enough to slide on and off the tab it lines up with.

    • @escondidonative2903
      @escondidonative2903 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      b00sted_brian wow thanks for the quick reply. Yea I’m pretty familiar with the si. Have air tools too. The part I’m stressing about is reinstalling the subframe as I’ve heard it can be a nightmare. Especially since I’m installing rigid collars for the subframe bolts. Thanks for getting back.

    • @bricasata

      I do it by myself with 2 jacks and a creeper to drop the subframe on so I can move it around. It's not as bad as folks make it sound.

      b00sted_brian hell yea thanks. I have an extra set of hands helping too so shouldn’t be too bad. Thanks man.

    Does the steering rack connect/ disconnect fairly easy to the rack or ia it better to leave it hanging

    • @bricasata

      It was easier for me to just unhook the steering joint and drop it attached to the subframe

    I have to do this job on my 2015 honda civic with cvt trans. How to you support the engine and trans after the subframe is out?

    • @bricasata
      @bricasata  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You still have the passenger and trans mount holding it up. You can always put a jack under the oil pan with a block of wood too

    • @bricasata

      Acia da wolf that’s more work. Easier to just take the 2 bolts and nut off so the lower ball joint bracket can separate. Lca stays on with the subframe.
